One month ago, [ mtldnb.com ] lauched it's Second Production Contest. Yesterday was the deadline for track submission and today is Judgement day. You are invited to vote and give your UNBIASED opinions of the entries (see *Disclaimer).

The main goal of this contest is to showcase production and engineering talent amongst the forum members. Contestants were given access to a sample pack containing a restricted amount of samples (sounds) from which to build a track. By giving restriction to only the samples we MUST focus on the originality, production & engineering skills of each remix.

The only rules were that the producer had to use ALL and ONLY the given samples and build a track of duration 5 to 7 minutes in length.

Politicaly correct on [ mtldnb.com ] & then talking shit on [ rave.ca ]

1- Dieselboy loves Montreal & a comment like this wont stop him from coming here to enjoy himself. He knows better. trust.

2- I can assure you its the "real" Dieselboy cause i know him personnaly.

3- [ mtldnb.com ] is known for fake accounts & negativity? Are you kidding me? Are you scared by confrontation? Its from discussing our difference that we evolve.

We will be doing a interview with the man himself this week, so come read what he has to say about Montreal & explain himself on the situation.

TEEBEE - Subtitles music . Metalheadz . Photek Productions . [Norway]

DJ/producer Teebee spent ten years making his mark on the Norwegian drum 'n' bass scene, but it only took one album and a handful of singles (on labels like Rugged Vinyl and Moving Shadow) to establish him as a major player in the elitist UK drum 'n' bass scene. The 2000 release of his debut album, Black Science Labs, showed the world that Teebee could both play by jungle's rules and fuck with them. The record was an unpredictable mix of sounds that twisted traditional drum 'n' bass formulas but retained a sleek, noirish sound. It was a departure from the UK's traditional pantheon of hip-hop and reggae influence, and it took lots of scenesters by surprise.

His follow-up album, Through the Eyes of a Scorpion, was a dark dancefloor rager that retained the painstaking beat structures of his debut while fine-tuning his hard edge. Teebee has become known for a style that doesn't so much straight-out pummel you but sneaks up quietly from behind and fucks with you. He has often credited this approach as an outcropping of his devotion to martial arts. (He practices Hung Gar kung fu.)

Fast forward to the present, and Teebee now needs no introduction. He's become one of the major successes of the UK's forward-thinking Certificate 18 label, as well as winning the "Best International Producer" award from Knowledge Magazine in 2001. He's gotten raves from all the major players in D&B, including Grooverider and Fabio, Andy C, Ed Rush and Optical and Bad Company. He's had releases on numerous labels, including Prototype, Juice, Creative Source, Moving Shadow, and many more, as well as releasing several mysteriously haunting R&B-flavored drum 'n' bass bootlegs.

Additionally, he plays DJ gigs around the world, creating a stir with head-banging sets that run the gamut between dark and melodic sounds. More so than most DJs, he really gets involved in his sets, dancing about, pumping his fists, and transmitting an intense energy to the crowd.

PRODUCTION CONTEST V.2

After the overwhelming results of our first produciton contest, the wheels are in motion for the second installment. The rules are pretty much the same as the first production contest: Anyone around the world can participate, they have to be a member of the board & they have to write a "breakbeat oriented" track between 5 and 7 minutes in length strictly with the sample pack we provide.

The main difference this time is that the producers will have to work with a vocal. The man who was nice enough to surrender his voice to this experiment is recognised worlwide as a longtime underground party rockin champion by the name of Jamalsky.

LETS ROCK! 8)

Yeah thats right, DJ DOMINIK from Toronto, the one and only who started the CHC (Canadian Hardcore collective) who use to be known as Canadian King of Hadcore, from the early 90s to late 2000's. He will be playing an dnb set for you tech heads. Hes a sick DJ and im glad to have him play the Dawg for the first time. Hes actually the first DJ i have ever booked for a "rave". Rue: Originally from Chicago, she relocated her record crates to Montreal this year. DJ Rue is a newcomer to the MTL scene, but not a newcomer in other sense of the word. She plays a blend of hard step, funky atmospheric, and trancey electro n'bass. Having recently gained a sponsorship from kangaROOS, she might give you some free stuff if you are nice. Expect her to rock the casbah.

18th
SHADOW-LAW RECORDINGS TOUR
NOISIA . SLR . Subtitle . Nerve . Payload . [Netherlands]
& PACIFIC . SLR . Subtitles . C4C . Habit . Rehab . [Vancouver, CA]

NOISIA: Hail from Groningen and consist of Nik Roos (20), Martijn van Sonderen (20) and Thijs de Vlieger (21). It all started in 1998, when the three were in the same school and developed an interest for drum 'n bass and producing, buying cd's and checking the net. Records like "Inside the Machine" (BC), "Wormhole" (Ed Rush&Optical) and "Molten Beats" (Ram Trilogy) and releases on labels such as Subtitles and Audio Blueprint carried the vibe they were after.

After a couple of tunes, Noisia started to get in touch with likeminded souls all over the world through the wonderful medium called AOL Messenger. Mayhem from Shadow Law Recordings and dj Cyanide (Armada Records) 'discovered' them, mayhem visited Holland and they did a tune together called Tomahawk. Interest grew and various labels wanted to get their hands on their music. Tomahawk got signed to Nerve Recordings and that got people's attention. From there it rolled and rolled, to where Noisia is now with a whole bunch
of releases out and forthcoming on labels such as Subtitles, Nerve, Habit, Armada, Monkey Business, Blindside, Payload, Shadow Law, and Holland's very own Citrus and Fokuz!

After they realized people were really into their music, they quickly picked up the dj'ing side of drumnbass as well, so they could play people the music they love themselves, and of course test their own tunes on floors all over the world. After they decided to accept bookings, people from all over the world showed interest. They've now played in places like Budapest, Moscow, Berlin, Melkweg Amsterdam, Nighttown Rotterdam and Tivoli Utrecht, alongside well established dj's/producers such as cause 4 concern, black sun empire and ed rush.

PACIFIC: A veteran dj of the Canadian scene with over 10 years of experience behind the decks, Pacific looks set to make his mark on the international drum n bass community. Comin’ correct with a tough yet musical style, Pacific’s productions are best described as rollin’, deep and techy. It’s a style closely related to his dj policy, “always keep ‘em moving” and has been developed carefully over the past 5 years at Automatic, his long-standing residency in hometown Vancouver BC. Playing alongside a who’s who of touring dnb talent, Pacific has achieved a confidence that enables him to control any floor with precision and taste. Not content with anthem-bashing, his sets are more of a journey, moving smoothly between peaks and valleys, consistently upfront but always with room for the classic tune. Forthcoming releases signed to Subtitles, C4C Recordings, Habit, and SLR are already creating big-league buzz amongst the more forward-thinking djs. With Doc Scott, Matrix, TeeBee, C4C, DJ Lee, Flight, Pendulum, Concord Dawn and a host of others rinsing the Pacific sound, the future looks bright for the deeper shades of dnb.

23rd
Royal Rumble

Royal Rumble: Tag team between the all mighty resident and Stabba for the whole night. Can you handle it?

30th
DIGITAL NOIZE TOUR 2004
CAPITAL J & MC JD . Mix n blen . Wikkid . N20 . Toronto

"What's His Name ???? --> Capital J: Hailing from London, ON, as the scratch champion since he was 14 years old, this incredibly exciting DJ / Producer is one of the most blow-up stars of Canadian drum and bass. Hit after hit including "Evil Streets," on Mix 'N Blen, "Diss Da' Program" on N20 and "What is a DJ?" & "The Throwdown" on Montreal's own Wikkid Records. His tunes have been massively caned by DJ Craze and Kenny Ken all over the planet, and two new Wikkid 12"s are already in the works for release this summer. Coming with dub after dub at the speed of sound, his scratching and cutting will cause serious dubplate brain damage.

MC JD: He is one of the most recognized MCs in Toronto’s flourishing drum‘n’bass/jungle scene and has been rocking stages since the early 1990’s. JD’s quick fast lyrics and smooth ragga flow are sure to get any dance floor jumpin’. Not only does he have an amazing flow but a stage presence second to none. His versatility, originality, creativity and a style which many cannot duplicate or imitate puts him on top as one of North America’s premier drum and bass/jungle mc’s.
