Hahaha... so true Fishead...I'm often dumbfounded by the ignorance out there...

Simply put...

A breakbeat is a non 4X4 beat, you can read the quote of mine that Mayday pulled up, its explained pretty well...or just do your own research on the internet...

I'm happy to see Saphir supports the music from time to time, so big up yourselves!

Dj Bliss is one of Montreal's most fervent supporters of the breaks genre. Inspired by djs such as Afrika Bambaataa, Krafty Kuts, Dj Czech & Coldcut, Bliss's approach to the breaks genre has remained resolutely eclectic and far reaching. A devout record digger, he has literally spent thousands of hours playing, researching and collecting breakbeat music over the years and currently owns Montreal's largest and most extensive breaks collection. His weekly breaks events have been running for 7 years now.

Starting in 1999, Bliss co-founded The Grill with Dj T'cha. Not only does the Grill remain the most successful breaks night in Montreal's history, it was also the first night of its kind in Montreal. Created to fill the void in a city where breaks were severely lacking, its success not only popularized breaks but also paved the way for other upcoming breaks djs such as the Broken Crew.

Not content with being the first night to introduce Montrealers to the nu skool breaks sound, T'cha and Bliss decided that a breaks night should cover the full spectrum of breakbeat related music. A typical night at the Grill would feature the latest in nu skool, as well as BBoy Breaks, original funk, rock & baggy breaks, latin breaks, broken beat, 2 step, downtempo, hip house & hip hop breaks, electro funk & idm to name a few.

Over its 4 years of existence, the Grill not only pioneered the concept of guest djs, it also was the first clubnight to introduce international breakbeat superstars in an intimate setting and at an affordable cost. Its overwhelming success earned it accolades both locally and from all over the globe with British breakbeat superstars like Dj Scissorkicks picking it as the setting for his North American mix cd recording.

From the Grill, Bliss went on to create Apesh!t, a weekly breaks night similar to the Grill but also with an added focus on Electro funk. It is also the only Electro funk weekly in Montreals history.

In 2004, Bliss founded Brunch in Breaks which has been running for 2 years now. Its remains Montreals only downtempo breaks weekly and for a time was Montreals only breaks weekly.

In 2006 T'cha and Bliss reunite at BOA to continue Montreals longest running breaks weekly (7 years!) dropping a mish mash of breakbeat flavors on a party tip

Its a weekly...its actually been running for a couple of months, I just wasn't promoting it a lot out of respect for Kunta...but its actually picking up...Its pretty laidback and funky so don't expect strobe lights and super heavy music...Anyhow...

I want to have the Planete Break guys come play with us, I just suck at Flyer design so if you can help me in that department lets do this!

Starting in 1999, Bliss co-founded The Grill with Dj T’cha. Not only does the Grill remain the most successful breaks night in Montreal’s history, it was also the first night of its kind in Montreal. Created to fill the void in a city where breaks were severely lacking, its success not only popularized breaks but also paved the way for other upcoming breaks djs such as the Broken Crew.

From the Grill, Bliss went on to create Apesh!t, a weekly breaks night similar to the Grill but also with an added focus on Electro funk. It also remains the only Electro funk weekly in Montreals history. In 2004 Bliss lost his night of 4 1/2 years to local promoters Broken Crew in a very controversial takeover. However their unsuccessful attempts at trying to recreate the Grill and a narrow focus on nu skool breaks resulted in a shortlived pale imitation. Bliss regained control of his night later that year.

Also in 2004, Bliss founded Brunch in Breaks which has been running for 2 years now. Its remains Montreals only downtempo breaks weekly and for a time was Montreals only breaks weekly.

In 2006 T’cha and Bliss reunite at BOA (5301 St Laurent) to continue Montreals longest breaks weekly (7 years now!) dropping a mish mash of breakbeat flavors.

Come celebrate their Halloween reunion bash this coming Friday!

LIBRA:

Libra is balance. Libra will work with concentration and relax with dedication. (- too funny

Some Libras do seek perfection, which can make life trying for those who live with them, however the sex is always awesome.

Love is important to Libra. If you are lucky to hook up with a Libra, your home will be filled with art and music.

I think you guys did a great job with your night Patrick,

As one of the guests to ever play at Planete Break when you guys were at Soho,
to my recent appearances, I've always had a blast and really enjoyed your parties...

I don't think the concept was the problem, Montreal needs a breaks night like yours, I think it has more to do with the bar management who don't seem to know what the hell they're doin"

I'd say check out another spot and keep rollin

How about taking over Mix Thursdays and makin it into a real breaks night? (jokes :)

Those Bones breaks records are awesome...

I haven't played those since I was doing the Grill lol! Funny though I just dug one out yesterday and thinking how I hadn't played it awhile...

I'll bet you good money though that he won't be playing much in terms of breaks,

I'd categorize him more as a techno dj nowadays...

P.S. Nice booking Steve!!!

Dope party!

Great set from Kai and Somsay who got that place nice and warmed up...

As for the Hooligan, what can I say, he was on point all night...I loved every single track...From the booty to the rock breaks...he covered so many bases...I even heard a little dnb and breaky techno thrown in for good measure...never boring and never redundant...and seeing him with Pinky ripping up the decks with the scratching was beautiful! They all had the girls going nuts and I've haven't seen so many hot women at a breaks party like that in ages...

So Big up the Kings of Mtl Breaks, you guys never dissapoint!
