You can't see the benefits of making a concerted effort to be creative while engaged in a creative endeavour? Seriously?

first of all, i'm with nfrm here on the whole CD/vinyl, beatmatching/trainwrecking debate

second of all, I NEVER trainwreck. hahaha. once in a while, either due to skipping (usually) or the fact that i'm trying to mix on 3 decks (like on tuesday... just totally LOST the 3 deck vibe while mixing on the radio show).. but honestly, i dont wanna sound all poncey and shit (whatever the fuck that means/? anyone? colin?) i dont wanna sound pompous, but anyone who's been mixing for awhile knows that it's fairly easy to avoid a trainwreck if you concentrate, and that a trainwreck is really the only truly ugly thing a DJ can do in a set. it always sounds better to, for example, do a sudden cut, a pullback, or any cheap trick if your fucked for space, don't have time to beatmatch, etc.

third of all, i agree with the roughness edge, fishead, milton, re. jeff mills, i've always wanted to bring a raw, live sound to techno -but it can be done without trainwrecking, imo... i'm more about crunching the bass totally in the reds on one channel, for example, and riding the hi-s and a bito mids on the other.. creates a raw dirty sound... for example

lastly, i think (at least for ME) the reason i prefer vinyl has nothing to do with the actual mixing application of the medium, but has everything to do with OWNERSHIP, and CONSUMERISM in a COMMERCIALATED bullshit world yo. As a DJ, I like to have a fucking ton of records, I like to be able to pull out a slab of wax that I OWN, that others might not own, a rare white label, or a copy of planet rhythm uk number one, it has way more of an impact than playing a CD (which is invisible to the onlooker)... fact is when I play CDs it's cause i'm playing shit I DON'T OWN, or hasn't been pressed... in a sense it does come down to image, to ownership, to all these values that i am completely opposed to, yet, through techno and DJing and vinyl, have found a way to deal with happily in the modern world. In essence, my argument is that in this 21st century capitalist hell, we all express ourselves, inevitably, by what we DO (or what we DON'T) choose to consume. In my case, I express myself with RECORDS... if you're expressing yourself with MP3's, well, anyone can own that shit in a second if they have hi-speed internet, so basically your less authentic.. (no shots intended at CD-DJs, i have mad respect to you.. just trying to express my OWN point of view... WHY i DO what i DO.. not saying I'm RIGHT or CORRECT or anything) bung

I think this argument is silly... Musork have you listened to one of ian's mixes? Just curious about that becuase you compare him to fishhead.. Comparing one of ian's prog house/trance sets to one of fishheads sets is like comparing apples and llama's.. Silly...

Ian's mixes are clean and consistant which I like! Fishheads are are unpredictable and cool and go all over the place (from the times I have heard him) which I like!

Different strokes for different folks and genres..

LOL. Thats not necessary. I thought we all agreed that its not about the media its about the quality of the overall mix? Based on what you said I take it you don't agree and you think that a mix is only good if its done on vinyl. Enough of this bigotry, can't we all get along?

really the more this thread progeesses the more this thread has nothing to do with techno or house and by all rights should be booted outta here but since I gave up my moderator dutues a long time ago and noah has been dragging his ass about removing my name from the forums as moderator...so I cant be bothered to move this thread to the correct forum as its not been my job for the last 2 months...
as for cds vs turntables I equally dont care about it as im not a fucking dj I am a live artists... I can tell you though that I find the amount of turntablist skills involved in djing with turntables requires much more still the djing with cd players.. when was the last time you saw a dj with cd players juggle any beats ...
visually djing with turntalbes looks nicer the cds like I said I dont care this arument is as mature as argueing how has a bigger dick...
I guess djneoprimeform has proven to us that he is/has the biggest dick of the all...
dont worry all the trance heads still worship you...

hehe nice.

also... i have seen some tight juggling with the cdj1000s. but most of the people who know how to jugle use vinyl because they have been using vinyl for so long. its hard for a new technology to take off quicly, just give it time.

That totally makes you the better man. People who chose to take up DJing instead of producing are OBVIOUSLY less important. hell, less talented also.

No matter how many times i re-read that comment, i can't help but feel that it is not infact me being immature.. even though i'm like half your age, maybe it's you who should grow up. i have yet to use any abusive language, yet you keep slandering me and myspelling my dj name.. for what? makes you come off as right? come off as tougher? really, whats the point?

lastly, prehaps you should check your own spelling, instead of ridding my ass about mistyping 'arrogance'.

I'd say this is true in many cases

There would be no music to play if nobody made it, however a lot of people who produce also DJ and vice versa... The few DJs who I honestly think have a talent at DJing are also pretty damn cool to watch also whether it be from awesome track selection to doing creative/original things in the mix...

I love how this neoprimerform dude puts words in peoples mouths... or tries to read between the lines dude what I type is what I mean I neversaid that any dj has less or more talent then a producer... I said I gave up djing back in 95 because iI wanted to consentrait on producing... and playing live... jesus get a fucking grip not everyword that coes out of someones mouth is a diss...
now why dont you go and play in the trance sand box or some thing else leave thier forum alone that only time we have problems in this forum is when you show up...
other wise we are all happy as can be...

why take this into a personal way...
I dont care that you dont like my music honestly... I dont expect everyone to...
how ever someone out there must like what I do since Im signed to a number of labels and in negotiations with 2 more from europe.
someone must like my music if you can find it in stores all over north american, europe and asia.
some one must like my music since my records keep getting reviewed.
someone must like my music if I play regular gigs all over the place, and am being forced litterly by noise facotry records to tour europe and asia this year becasue they get some many requests...
someone must like my music if these tours and records of mine are all paid for by other people ...
hummm do you see a common thread here...
can you say any of these things for you self?
no
also I have never said a word about your music you know why as its NOT YOUR MUSIC!!!! your a DJ you play other peoples music I play my own I make my own music I dont need to play other peoples music!!!!!!!1
no go a away like I asked you as your polluting my feild of vision with your digital detrittus you call text...

if you want to leave this thread, that's entirely up to you, i've been a member of this board for several years, i feel no reason to leave at your request.
