DJs, for the most part, have moved on... and the shops that catered specifically to that market have suffered... the shops that appeal to a wider clientele have survived... and despite a few closures there are some really great shops in this city... my picks: Beatnick Atom Heart Cheap Thrills Soundcentral Death of Vinyl as for the chain stores... well... they fucked themselves right in the ass when they replaced knowledgeable staff with people who can run a till and look hip while they're doing it... their focus shifted from having employees that were able to introduce people to music, and sell the back catalog that actually turns a profit, to relying on a 'range' of proven sellers - and a chart wall that might move a lot of units, but has an extremely weak profit margin... Of course, this is just my opinion based on observations made during 10+ years of work in the industry... |

It's just the 1200MK5 and 1210MK5 that are getting discontinued, the 1210MK5G (their current top-of-the-line) isn't, and neither is the 1200 and 1210 MK2. This is straight from someone at Chemical Records.. they freaked out a little also since they sell them.
