Nu Ravers are garbage Klaxons-following bullshit... the mix of indie and "rave influences". They called themselves "Nu Rave"; the Klaxons at least, and to a lesser extent Crystal Castles, and to a way lesser extent CSS, who actually could call themselves that without being totally full of shit.

Then you get these local posers and they play with MSTRKRFT. NROTB fucking sucks.

Nuff said.

Yeah I'm an old raver. As in no longer consider it a rave, battle when I dance, too jaded with all the b.s. to take the word "Rave" as more than a marketing scheme.

P.S.: You still have to market things, even if they're underground. Hence the term's usage and popularity.

It's all relative, really.

Personally, after nearly 8-years of partying, the only thing I can call myself is a drug addict.

Old school, nu school.... wotevur. I think it's just a label older ravers use to make themselves sound cooler cause they're ashamed they havent left the rave scene yet hahaha I dunno... when someone claims to be oldschool, I find it usually comes with a bit of pretension.

I'm an old raver. Oldskool. From the days when it was all about mind-exploding, wholesome, F-U-N. Some people even actually believed in PLUR. Oldskool ravers couldn't get enough electronic music, and you would NEVER EVER have caught one listening to the radio, or to alternative/metal/punk/commercial/whatever else that's full of shitty vibes. Oldskool ravers could do the caterpillar, and the general openness of the scene made it good.

Nu raverz are all about "being cool". Just like every other crowd. They are so bland, so AVERAGE... The only thing they kept from the original is the word "rave".

That's why I don't think you'll ever see me at a "rave" again. Afterhours are the only place you can find any remnant of the original vibe.
I'm feeling plur right now..

ya un truc que je comprend pas par exemple, comment peut tu juger ''Nu raverz are all about "being cool". Just like every other crowd. They are so bland, so AVERAGE... The only thing they kept from the original is the word "rave".'' pour te citer si tu ne va plus dans les ''rave''.

I agree and disagree with so much of this, I'd be considered old skool due to the fact I've been into electronic music as long as I can remember. I believed PLUR and I still do, not just to be cool. I'd also be considered Nu-Rave though as my first party was actually one year ago today.

I agree with you on the "afterhours comment" for sure, I am a regular at afterhours and ya sure theres alot of the "gino" type clubbers but they're all there for what we are, the music and the dancing. When I go to clubs there's always that one guy that is all up on me it's like "I came here to dance, not to have you try to take me home" at afterhours that doesn't happen. It's just friends out to have fun and enjoy the music.
I'm feeling like relaxing right now..

Dude, just cause you threw a party one year ago dosen't make you nu rave!

I agree 100 percent with horus,

As an ANCIENT RAVER who's been listening to electronic music since 1988,

I find this "nu" scene pretentious, musically uneducated and not the most friendly

I miss the days when rave was "underground",

When it wasn't about formulas, fashion and who's cooler than who,

It just about coming together and having a good time :)

I kind of agree with you on this one, especially with the I love neon/Nu ravers on the block scene. It's always a competition: who's the most fashionable, the biggest freak, the most outrageous, etc etc. People spend the entire night taking facebook/myspace pictures where they pretend to be having a blast then when the flash stops they all look bored to death. Fake smiles, drama queens, backstabbing frenemies, and way too much fuckin coke. BO-RINNNGGGGG!!!

Yeah, some new kids come into their first party blasé as all Hell but then again, stick around for the star status they think it grants them. Or spend a shitload of time trying attain that status, all the while missing the whole point ( and a lot of awesome live PAs, DJs and performers ) of raving in the process...

... then 3 months later, stop partying altogether because " dude, I've been raving way too hard. Besides, these partys are, like, played out, you know ? "

Hey, I'm not generalizing but I've seen this behavior quite a whole lot lately. :(
I'm feeling crookers right now..

Nu rave isn't people from a few years ago, it's this shitty indie rock thing. It has nothing to do with what we call raves. I swear, it's b.s.

OLD SKOOL? NU SKOOL? SKOOL'S OUT MOTHERFUCKAS! LET'S PARTY!
