Went by Berri yesterday, didn't actually notice any sound, but then again I'm probably too old. I've tested myself, and I know some of these mosquito sounds I can't hear anymore.

It IS bad. Join the facebook group perhaps? I know this sounds lame, but if there are enough people joining it, might act as a "petition" of sorts...

really if i was in mtl i would do something about it.. i know quebec is not perfect but we really do have often socialist ways... but when i see stuff like that it makes me sad in a way..

if i understood right, they are installing that system because of the "indesirable".. but these people will not go away.. instead of looking and do something or investigate about poverty or mental illness ect. you know i don;t find it fun to see street kids or mental homeless people or whatever misery can bring to a human but if at least our society is ready to tolerate and do nothing about it, i would prefer to see it and having it in my face instead of having a sound installation to hide or push away the problem.. that's so 1984 style.

it's like some of these big american city.. they pushed all the people considerated crap outside the border of the city... so like that people don't see it too much... it's look like refugee camp.

I'm feeling hitched right now..

And besides, the REAL undesirables are well over the age of 16.
I first heard about this as a means to combat graffiti, which is ridiculous, because most serious writer s are over the age 18, and I highly doubt some frequency is going to be deter them, and all the little kids are in bed past midnight anyways. So what's the fucking point? It's not even like that homeless dude passed out on a bench is going to be bother by this, the guys licked, and hes 50.
Just get more cops to patrol the stations where they're needed. Problem solved.
I'm feeling cool right now..

People, people, calm down.

It's the city's zombie plan, to prevent zombies from overrunning the metro.

The high pitched noise can only be heard by zombies.

Or a regular human being who's been out and hadn't had enough sleep, is drunk or proceeded to smoke a 3 1/2 in under 15 minutes.

I think you're right about those "speakers" (if that's what you want to believe, alex O_0) in the metro. but the device is real, and the city IS going to be using them very soon... If not already... in the metros... to ward off wayward youths.

[ news.sympatico.msn.ca ] =alex sucks, lol

Despite all the conspiracy theories thrown around here, does anyone have proof that this system is installed or will be installed ANYWHERE in Montreal ?

BTW Mico, Alex clearly did not fail as the article mentions Mosquito systems in British Columbia. No word on Quebec or Montreal. :)

what are you talking about? It's right there in the article. Mind you, it does say that they aren't planning on using them.

"The city of Montreal was recently considering the Mosquito alarm as a way to curb graffiti; while officials now insist it's off the table, young Montrealers might have to contend with them anyway. Gibson's local dealer has fielded inquiries from stores, schools, and even hockey rinks in the city."

And I know Alex didn't fail. Because those speakers ARE just speakers. I just wanted to believe in the Mosquito so bad. So, so bad.

anyway, selon moi, the only fact that this system (or no system..) haven't been largely communicated and understood clearly by the population or users is fucked up.

by what i read here, it seems even the employees (police or subway) don't even have and propagates the same instructions or informations. c'est louche.
