 Coolness: 91790 | There are certainly differences between scientific theories and religious beleifs, but most people who think of themselves as "rational" and "scientific" in their outlook are really no different than blind beleivers in faith. Most scientific theories of the past century or so are far too complex for lay people to thoroughly understand, and even if they get the "basic idea", they have no way of verifying it themselves to see if its in fact true. So ultimately it boils down to a matter of faith, its just that "rational" people put their faith in the words of scientists, just as religious people put their faith in the words of priests/clerics/etc. |

And yes, there is many more contradiction in religion. While science is a consensus, religion is suppose to be something personal...And since everyone is unique, everyone should has it's own religion, based on what is your vision of the world. Let's not call it religion, call it spirituality, or whatever, but it's not a religion anymore... Religion is organized spirituality, which is stupid in my opinion. |

Actually, if all the discipline's worked together... we could do something grand. But alot of scholars in particular disciplines are out of touch with other discilplines, which could very well deepen there uunderstanding.
