I've used it many times, I'd say it's about equal to a properly patched windows system... and despite what people think programs can and do crash in it and I've seen the whole OS die before also...

AMD cost nothing.

The processor becomes shitty after a few months.

I've had one in my pc for over two years, a pc which I never turn off...

I've got two OS X boxes, and i've never seen either have the system crash. i remember leaving my G4 on for more than 5 months, when in and out of sleeping hundreds of times, never had to reboot it. Only reason i had to restart it after 5 months was because of a power failure.

well I had an xp install survive my hard drive physically fucking up and losing/misplacing about a gig of information... After I ran chkdsk I rebooted and expected the system to be completely dead but it still booted (although I was missing internet explorer (the actual program!) and some of my drivers, and a lot of my programs)...

um.. recover?

lets see, i had an iMac with OS 9 installed on it, i then installed OS X on it, my sister (the uer of the computer) then noticed she didn't have Word for OS X, so i switched back to 9.. since i figured she wasn't going to need it anymore, i dragged all the core folders of OS X into the trash and deleted em.

few months later my sister gave me her comp, i then noticed OS X was still available for boot.. so i started up, worked fine, minus all the standard applications..

seems like just about any OS can do that scotty..
