you get groove by creating "sub-beats" by varying the timing and velocity slightly of your different percussion elements.

Also try running on things other then 4/4, especially for prog.

Not bad, your production is fairly good although very safe.

I find your leads and percussion elements stay fairly static throughout the track, some variation would help keep the track interesting.

Also your second main lead seems to be in conflict with your bassline, try moving it up an octave or changing the sound altogether if that doesn't work.

Of course, but the overall db levels of cars isn't so bad as compared to other things. The white noise sort of background noise can actually be sort of relaxing in a weird way. Which would you rather have at 7:00 am in the morning: a few cars passing by or your neighbor blowing leafs off his lawn?

For sure... like the thing about sound not being able to leave your walls? It's mind boggling how something so stupid can become law. Sound is vibrations... it travels best in denser mediums because of the proximity of the molecules hitting each-other. Add to the fact that brick/concrete is an extremely porous material and the truth of the matter is that scientifically and technically any sound that happens within walls will be transmitted to the outside at one level or another. How can they quantify and prove something like that? If that's the case they'd have to shut down every club/bar/afterhours in Montreal.

All you have to do is walk into court and ask them what the specific numeric pressure and vibration amplitude limits are; or at what specific pascal level is sound to be considered escaping the walls. When they look around like the idiots they all are and tell you that those numbers don't exist (because there pretty much impossible to consistently calculate due to ambient noise) you basically won your case.

I think noise pollution is a problem... but targeting clubs and raves is just an excuse to make more money. All the industrial sectors of Montreal are being rezoned to residential areas and old industrial buildings are being turned into condos. I've spent a good 2 months looking for new venues and every potential building has some fucking residential area near by. I can understand people in quiet suburban areas wanting it quiet at night but if you decide to live in an area where there is nightlife you should deal with the fucking consequences. If we can't make noise downtown or in the plateau where the fuck can we make noise?

It's obvious they don't understand sound, but the way I see it if anybody actually takes a ticket to court it will never pass. A car passing by with an aftermarket exhaust can tip the gauge at 100dbspl even. How can they prove that it wasn't just the traffic that made the spl meter jump? Shit if they ever give me a fine I'll take it straight to court with a smile and the first thing I'll do is plop my degree in Electroacoustics on the table and make sure I use as many technical terms as possible and make everyone's head in the courtroom spin. I'm smiling right now just thinking of the stupid look on the cops face when I start talking about the absorbancy coefficients of the materials making up the walls and the phase interactions of sound when it bounces off parallel surfaces.

Fuck it, after picturing the scene I hope they fine me. If anybody here get's fined send me a message... I'd gladly come and help you defend your case.

I don't know... but just cuz something is free doesn't mean it needs to be badly organized. It looks like everybody "involved" had no idea what they should be doing. Who was in charge of finding a place? Did anybody ever have a meeting to discuss this?

Whatever... promoters will pay the price as usual and life will go on.

As a side note there are a lot of new young kids entering the scene. All they want to do is get fucked up and party. It's something were gonna have to adjust to. If you do things properly you shouldn't have any problems. It's probably the first increase in rave attendance in a while, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Ha first off Noah I can assure you our deco guy has never been to one of your parties, but I'm not in the mood to argue this with you, I'll just counter your cheesy quote with another one and say "great minds think alike". :P

First off I'd like to thank everyone who came out to party with good vibes, we can bring the sound, the lighting, and the deco, but you guys bring the party.

I'd also like to thank everyone who helped out with set-up, take-down, bar, door, and anything else I'm missing. It was greatly appreciated.

I'd also like to thank all the live-acts and djs. Your sets were all amazing; every room we had was jamming.

I have more videos and pictures to post in a bit, but anyone who was there can attest to the success of this party. We took a big risk with this party and I'm glad to say it worked out.

One thing though... is it normal that the ambulances had to come 3 times this party? I know it was a crazy party but come on guys control your drug intake...

^lol plus a couple more thousand for the chill :/

This is gonna be huge, were taking the two biggest scenes in Montreal right now and mixing them into the sickest venue available and not making any concessions when it comes to sound / light / deco. The budget of this rave rivals the budget for many outdoor festivals.

A LOT of people have been asking me about specifics for this event, so let me take the opportunity to clarify what this rave will be about.

- HUGE sound systems with dedicated sound and light technicians + VJs in each room making sure that everything works in harmony. We are promising a light show similar to what you'd see at a professional concert at the Bell Center or Theatre Telus.

- The best venue in Montreal 'nuff said.

- 2 different deco teams working to create original and new deco for each room. We guarantee 2 unique and themed ambiances unlike anything you've seen before.

- Terrasse with chill out music (Covered in the case of rain) complete with shisha bar for when you feel like just relaxing. We will be serving tea and various other drinks as well.

- 6 different headliners covering 3 genres of music ( Dubstep / Psytrance /Chill Out). I urge you to check them out on our page, we've picked the artists we think are amazing, not who's available.

- Friendly security which will make sure your safe, but won't stop you from bringing in anything reasonable such as your own water bottle ;).

All of this for 25$ - 35$ depending when you buy your ticket.
We're trying to bring back 1000 people raves, let's see if it's possible.

The issue at hand is that people with nice venues don't want to go to 8:00 am, and those that are willing are either desperate or really expensive. Also If you reserve the venue very early on before you announce the party, then you run the risk of it being busted, closed down, or raped before your event.

However I know you guys put a lot into this one, you were definitely on top of everything. Sometimes a magnitude of reasons outside of your control hurts your attending. I don't think your party was a failure by any means though; an extra 50 people would have probably made the difference.

Fucking Harper's a broken lying record, he didn't address a single question unless he outright denied it. All he did was consistently repeat that he didn't want an election; which is bs imo. He started his campaign before everyone else... if he really didn't want an election he would have made concessions.

The issue is that the guy looks so calm and composed he guarantees the old fart vote.

Bah I don't know... the way I see it, let people raise their kids the way they want. If you believe that bringing your kid to a festival will do good for him you are entitled to believe that and bring your kid. Maybe that kid would become a crazy dj; start mixing and producing at 8 years old; all jaded and producing minimal by 13.

It becomes a problem I think if the parents decide to indulge and party and not look after the kid.

But to address your statement nads... I would never in 8934721893721 years let anybody else take my kid to a festival. Imagine something happens to your kid... WOW

There are douchbags on both sides (djs & promoters), it's up to you to decide who you want to associate with and who not to do business with.

An agreement is an agreement, if you don't hold up your end your only hurting your rep.

And just to add a little fuel to this fire; The last event I did had 5 of the djs (1/3) asking for more money then was originally agreed upon... we paid them all I believe; but in retrospect I feel a little taken advantage of.

Alright cool, I'm gonna go buy them from the states cuz it's cheaper.

Nice ambiances

But as others said the bass needs some work.

I feel that if you were to move the bass down an octave you'd free up a lot of room in that low mid area and the entire track would breathe a lot better.

Another option would be to grab a kick with a much longer decay as to fill out the whole sub bass region.

but overall nice track

I dunno, I actually found the place really expensive for all the bs I had to put up with.

Apparently it's in demand and he's jacking up his prices.

Not to mention the fact that he'll keep your security deposit

And also the fact that you might as well sign off all your possessions to him when you sign his contract. I feel like posting the thing online, it's a joke. I pray to god nothing major happens at a party there... for the promoters sake. If somebody gets hurt, dies or something breaks the promoter is personally responsible for insuring whatever costs are at hand... think about it.
