I need the collective help figuring something out. I have a project coming up and I would like y'all to nominate who you think should reprazent as "The" DJ for each style. Think local, think up-and-coming.
Here's the styles to consider:
1)Jungle
2)Hip Hop
3)Breakbeats
4)Reggae
5)House/Techno
I'd like to see this be a proactive opinion poll. Don't go stepping on any particular DJ cuz they aren't your fav, but I'd certainly like to know about why a particular selection may not be good. Discuss!

Yay! I'm back...no internet sucks. But now I have a more frequent access. Oli and I are gonna jam this eve and all are welcome. The big day is going on on Weds at 7pm at the Fusion office (1270 St. Mathieu @ Ste. Catherine around the corner form where Cloud6 went down).
Producers: You should come with a CD with wavs including,
a)Scotty's original sample
b)Your remix
c)the loops that comprise your remix
d)any other samples you used (ie. cymbal crashes, vocal samples, spaecial drum builds etc...)
Bonus E) Any work you may have done on my Metamorphasis track. It's available on Scotty's ftp til tomorrow or just bring in any DnB beats you may have created in 170bpm.
Don't worry if nothing goes right. We're still figuring things out.
Here's the guest list: David, Oliver, Olivier, Scotty, Eldar, Johnny (administrator), Sami (founder), Fred, Dominic, Lee (plus whoever he will need in order to film), Noah, Seb, Stabba, Somsay & Co.
Anyway, we producers will do our work, the camera crew will film, then leave after interviewing a few of the people. After the session everyone is invited to the Fusion Presents Network Party @ Publix on St. Laurent where industry people are invited to mingle and do business every Wednesday nite.

that is gorgeous! I like how it steps away from the norm in almost every way. We got some ideas to work out for camp, but Johnny is reaaly keen on having you and whoever you want/respect to paint the studio walls inside out! We also need to commission someone to design the FP tag so we can pro-spay the company car so start thinking!

Remarkable construction.

Some pretty damn potent tracks. You have a great ear for constructing a track. It sounds sample driven though. Are you actually composing the tracks or are you using a program like Reason as a MixMan Studio? At any rate, building your own original sound will no doubt be impressive! If you ever want access to some beat-building equip, let me know vis a vis APrime. Get some analogue up in this biatch! Looking forward to meeting you G. Peace

I'm using the Audiophile Delta which isn't too bad. It certainly makes good quality recording! It's the right card between being too expensive (you can find for $250-500 I'm sure) but delivering the massive goods.

We have an opportunity to do a pre-emptive project together, as our first project.
Mike (Stabba) is making a mix cd and expressed an interest in one of my tracks provided some changes could be made. What I'd love to try is this: download the massive wav file I just uploaded to the ftp, then come up with some badass drums to go along with the musical element I posted. When we meet up on Weds 17 we'll still do the wav-swapping remix but we'll do it with the final product in mind. We could rename the track as a group remix of my track and perhaps get some distribution out there.
If you're interested in giving it a shot get the file, do the mix, and we'll see what happens in the studio.
ScottyP's sample will still need to be remixed by the 17th. This is bonus project fo ya!

I'm soooooo stoked! This crew is beyond my hopes already and we ain't even done shit. There are already 3 wavs on the ftp, but since Scotty took the initiative to not only post the first, but to creat the damn ftp, I nominate his sample for our round 1 remix due back on the 17th. Does anyone (esp Scott) object?
This round will be a straight remix. I think Scott's track is open to substantial interpretation so it'll be interesting to see what we come up with, and it may be a challenge to find which of our tracks will mesh. I like.
Let me know if this shit won't fly and we'll pick a new file. Until I hear otherwise, I'm gonna go ahead and jam this track.

I had a really valid question: What do I do with a DJ form if I'm a Producer? The form is only a tool to facilitate our info gathering. I can get by with an email that simply states the following:
Name, Producer Name, Style(s), Equipment, Projects (past and present), Live Shows, and Major Influences.
That should be enough to create a profile. BY the time you respond to this change though, I'll have the Official FP Producer Forum Application, hot off the press so I can send that if you like.

I'm reprazenting a company called Fusion Presents which is an artist development and management group. We have established a relationship with quite a few venues and are presently recruiting musical artists to join our family of entertainers. I'm in charge of hunting Djs. In addition to regular showcase nights, we're looking at getting a permit for the Tams so we can set up decks hassle-free, and setting up a regular battle night at one of our bars. With sponsorship from L'Oreal, Air Canada, and other companies we're looking to expand our influence beyond Montreal. Way beyond. We opened an office on St. Mathieu @ Ste. Cath and we are presently building our studio at that location. It's currently free to join FP and use its services and resources, but as of Sept 1 there will be a membership fee for new artists so let's move!
