Binoculars... Better safe then sorry... Seems like the other boats didn't need these things... Look at any video of the USA attacking anywhere. If you have a weapon (and sometimes if it looks like you have one) it's a reason to bomb or kill... It's reality. Provoking does not do anyone any good.

And what image with the wrong tags could easily been a date problem on the camera... I have that happen to me a lot on my old camera when I took out the batteries... Anyways, we are not there, we don't really know anything...

The Nikon D2XS didn't even exist in Feb 2006...

I had always questioned the reliability of memri's translations but a friend of mine who speaks arabic as a mother tongue said they were generally reliable.

tako, I dont have a problem with jews. I <3 jews. Especially the ky00t girls with brown hair. And that really hot one from star wars I want to marry. I only have a problem with israeli foriegn policy. Theres a difference, dontcha know?

Most Israelis are actually pro-palestine believe it or not...And im guessing your in the not side based on you comments.

So, for example, the largest political party in Israel is Kadima. And they actually support unilateral disengagement and a 2 state solution. But they don't control power right now because they werent able to form a coalition.

Instead, the second biggest party, Likud, is like the conservative party of Canada; a lot of moderates, but a lot of right wing folk who dislike the idea of palestinan statehood. Think of it as a combination of Fiscal Conservatives with Social Conservatives. For example, a lot of people who vote conservative in Canada are Pro-choice, and vote conservative for the fiscal and economic policies rather than the social policies. But theres no option for social liberalism and fiscal conservatism, so you choose which is more important to you. So Lukid can never really stop settlements because a large part of their base are hardliners.

Further, for Lukud to form a coalition, they found friends in United Torah Judaism who believe in expansion of israel via illegal settlements and are against the creation of a palestinian state.

In essence, Israeli politics is really fucked up, and results in a rediculous foriegn policy most israelis themselves don't support. Its a lot like Canada, where even though the country has left leaning social values, the right wing party is in power...

Futher, it would be political suicide to form a coalition with the Arab parties which are always pro-palestine, so that kind of puts the chance of a pro-palestine governement at a disadvantage.

For a 2-state solution to even be on the table, Kadima has to be power. And right now theyre not...so settlements expand, protesters are shot, flotillas are hijacked, and no peace process occurs....
I'm feeling a overhang right now..

There's the proposed 1 State solution. Israel and Palestine forming into 1 state. However, that's not popular on either side.

I think both sides have shitty leaders. Israel has too many ultra conservatives who want to turn the state into SPARTA. and HAMAS, well, HAMAS is a recognized terrorist group.

Imagine if the FLQ (except much worse) were the party in power in Quebec.. How do you think Canada would react?

i told you guys, it's not worth arguing about, in fact, as far as i know neither one of you is, Jewish, Palestinian, Muslim or Israeli, so why get involved it's purely academic debating society shit, not trying to insult you guys but your not gonna solve anything, it doesn't mater how much you know or research about the conflict or believe in your position. It's pointless. It's not like who ever you are arguing with about this (especially if they actually have something invested in this thing, like family or ancestry) are going to say 'you know what you re right my side is wrong and we should just get the fuck out, israel/palestine belongs to you' never gonna happen. This is one of those blood feuds that's gonna go on for ever and ever.

Think about it when was the last time the sides negotiated? Israel has it's wall, all the Palestinians can do is pitch a couple of rockets every now and then from gaza, most people in the west bank are completely dejected and apathetic about politics and are just looking forward to the world cup next week...

so why bother, this flotilla thing was pure theater.
I'm feeling surly right now..

The other ships with supplies were let in...
There was only ONE ship who had violent people on it...
I don't understand what the problem is...
The same thing would have happened anywhere else in the world...

You can not start smuggling in weapons to any country... Period...

The reason the ships were boarded was to prevent this. None of the other ships has problems with this. And their supplies reached the destination with no problems...

Hamas rejects flotilla goods while activists remain in jail

Washington - Gaza officials have refused roughly 20 truckloads of aid confiscated from the "Freedom Flotilla," saying the goods were broken and that they would not accept goods while any flotilla activists were still detained, Ma'an News Agency reported Wednesday.

Hamas Minister of Social Affairs Ahmed Al-Kurd called the Israeli delivery a "media campaign" meant to "divert the attention of the world from their acts of piracy." Al-Kurd said the goods brought to Gaza were broken or missing parts. Among the items delivered were a set of electric wheelchairs, presented with their batteries missing, Ma'an said.

"We will refuse the aid as long as the victims of Israel's attack remain in prison. Without exception we demand their release," Al-Kurd said during a Gaza City press conference.

Israeli military officials released a statement responding to the refusal: "Unfortunately, the Hamas terror organization is unwilling to accept the cargo and the trucks filled with humanitarian aid have not been allowed to enter the Gaza Strip. It appears that Hamas is in fact stopping the transfer of the humanitarian aid."

The "Freedom Flotilla" ships were loaded with more approximately 10,000 tons of goods. Tuesday, the Israeli Defense Force Spokesperson's Unit released a video of boxes and supplies, prssumably from the flotilla ships, being loaded into trucks.

Denying humanitarian aid for political gain!

why would any ship be arrested in international waters? as in belong to anyone, even the cruelest, most barbaric, most lawless countries.

they were shot at before any of their violent retaliation. everyone, as in all human beings, under any circumstance has the right to defend themselves. pretty much the same apply to a group of person, some of the group get harmed, they then have the right to all means necessary to repel the threat, as in a real threat, not just a fear of one ; having a weapon on you is a fear of threat, being shot or having it wielded at you is a real threat, even with weapons on board it's a potential threat, being shot at is a real threat.

second, isn't it to the Palestinians to decide if they want to block incoming weapons, or do you approve of Israelite occupation of Palestine?

(CNN) -- Some of the first accounts emerged Tuesday from eyewitnesses who were aboard several boats stormed by Israeli forces as they approached Gaza the day before.

Hanin Zoabi, a member of the Israeli parliament, was on board the Miva Marmara, the ship that was the scene of a confrontation between activists and Israeli soldiers. That clash left at least nine people dead.

The Israeli Navy fired on the ships five minutes before commandos descended from ropes that dangled from helicopters, Zoabi said during a press conference in Nazareth, Israel. She said passengers on board the ship were unarmed.

Well that settles that Nuclear. That settles that. Israeli MP basicly faults her own army. And she was on the ship. Just goes to my point that most israelis are actually all for a 2-state solution and support palestines right to independance and freedom of movement
