i wonder what katsuhiro ottomo thinks about this, was he bought off for it or did hollywood simply raped the whole deal from start to finish with mr burn lawer team from hell or is he passionnatly working on the movie set / prod
i suspect pioneer to be the reason why they want to make it all back from scratch, they must be blattant glouton on the bill of trademarks... simply wanting to release a name from them must be an impossible number , like 47 million or 400 billion..

Which one?
And who'll ruin it IS another question. Americans will probably mess up Ninja Scroll. But I think they could somewhat easily do GITS. ... Hell, japanese would probably mess up Ninja Scroll too. Never seen the movie(s?) but Live Action La Blue Girl wasn't exactly a success from what I hear, and somehow I think it'd have the same feel :p Need to watch Death Note the anime before I watch Death Note the movie(s?).. AND errr... Live Action Initial D was good. From HK, IIRC.

well, at least they have money to fuck up everything but still look good.
from what i saw of anime made to cinema by the japanese, its allways low-budget crappy lines, shitty vfx. whats best, shitty move that looks bad, or shitty movie that looks good? =P
I'm feeling fidgety right now.. |

Devilman was also similar in look, but came off a lot more like a PS2 cutscene with a really high budget.. the quality of this video really doesn't do it justice: There's some other stuff out there also that wasn't toooo bad, like Oldboy and Ichi the Killer.. (and a few others that I'm totally not remembering the name of right now) It can be done right, but everyone is still going to get pissy about it and get pissed off if it's not exactly how THEY want to see it done.. in which case, your copy of the original didn't spontaneously combust, go watch that and stop whining!
I'm feeling like a drama magnet right now.. |
