Meh it could take longer than that, the powers that be may wait until Obama promotes ideas that go against their profit. I personally believe that the president of the states is completely irrelevant whoever he is, anyone who isnt blind can see that a greater force is behind US politics if not global politics.

I could go on and on, and yes I'm a conspiray theorist (is that even a word?) and this election stinks.

The US is in recession, yet McCain wants to extend the war in Iraq. Where the fuck will he come up with the money for that ? More taxes ? Yeah, I'm sure ALL americans will agree to that. And he also has a very good plan for global warming : moreless ignore it.

McCain only has plans for reducing taxes, no increasing any.

Oh ok, I see.

So McCain will LOWER taxes for families with an income OVER 2.87$ mil ? Wow. What a fucking genius. Apparently, families on the brink of poverty is of no importance to McCain.

So lower taxes for the few rich families and keep poor people overtaxed ( they are in greater numbers anyway, right ? )

Well, although cutting back on wealthiest's taxes might help the US keep some of it's money inside of the country (USA has the largest number of financial expatriations every year) - I can hardly see how his expansion politics, combined with a recession to deal with and the promises of lower taxes can possibly fly.

Obama on the other hand is definitely going to drive a lot of money out of the country, along with employment, by raising the bar this high for the demographic that creates the most jobs ... but in the short term, his politic might just be a good fix to the housing burst and economic instability.

I only hope he's already got his next step figured ...

If you look at the numbers it's not status quo but rather a better way of taxation. If implemented the rich lose 11% and the truly poor gain 5.5% I find it decent.

Pat, the problem is you can't make the equation that easily.

First of all, the rich creates most of the country's jobs and employment - providing millions of families with an income they couldn't get by without.

By raising their taxes 11% (which is a fucking huge cut, believe me), Obama would only drive them and their money out of the country - resulting in a loss of job - as well as hundreds of millions of tax dollars.

Before toying around with numbers, someone should have a closer look at the way tax dollars are really spent ...

This is utter bullshit. The US used to be comprised mostly of middle class citizens who held stock in much of the companies. Now there are poor and rich, and the rich are the ones holding all the stock. By raising the taxes for the rich and lowering them for everyone else money is redistributed to those in the poor and middle class. More money in the middle class is better for everyone.

If you want to decrease the money leaving the country, then close the loopholes that allow rich people to set up offshore accounts and evade the taxes that they should be paying.

I dont see why its "right" to raise taxes for those already paying the most tax, and lowering tax for the people who contribute the least to general tax revenues.

If anything, taxes should be higher for the poor since they use more services provided with taxes, such as public schools and medicare.

Or they can choose to work harder, or they could choose to waste less money on frivolous items.

I fail to understand why you're worried about people making $20 000 a year, when that puts in them in the top 10% of earners worldwide.

Wouldnt it be more noble to fight a worthy cause like real poverty? Yes, Im suggesting you be more like Gonzo

you have to remember, the states isnt as middle class as us, theres a faaaar greater percentage above and below it. By your logic, they should just exterminate some states and let the suburbs sprawl out. Ignore a problem and/or throw money at it and its solved? Hasnt been working so far has it, class separation increases every year.

Those "loopholes" as you call them is actually the same infrastructure that makes international commerce possible. There's no way to fix it - and no one should even try to.

Let's see .... middle class bought stocks.
middle class got fucked in the 80's crash.
middle class got poor.
middle class got rich.

What made the difference ?
Some of them knew what they were doing while the remaining underachievers followed blindly

More money in the country is better than no money in the country.
If you're not happy with your boss giving you the opportunity to bring some good ol' cash at home, then fuck it, there are millions of people praying every day for big shot investors to set foot in their little bamboo towns.

P.S: Even a 12,000$ Annual income puts you in the 70% of the planet's richest - so quit the whining.

Oh, and for your information: Anyone who does a proper job setting up offshore accounts and corporations doesn't legally have to pay any taxes. They are not evading anything, nor are they entitled to give anything to the state.

Well by that, McCains plan is no worse than Obama's. In fact you could argue it might be better, because he's clearly not trying to throw money at the problem, hes taking it away.

Perhaps if poor people are taxed more it will solve the problem. They might decide they'll need to get education and skills rather than try and get by on subsidies.

Rich people, you could argue, at least try to solve the problem. Buffet and Gates have donated an excess of $100B to Africa, while other rich people open inner city education foundations, abortion clinics, and give endowments to universities. Poor people on the other hand spend extra money on shit that helps nobody like new clothes, new cell phones and more big-macs.

We're not talking about the philanthropy of (very few) have's here, this is about the state. The state is far from philanthropic.
