I came for the DnB mostly and was sadly dissapointed. I don't get why the windows werent taped up with cardboard or w/e to make the place pitch black or as close to it as you can, even in the early morning (probably because there was 0 lights lol).

This is a classic case of bad promotion, no offense to any involved but let's call things as they are. This venue had great potential, could've housed a much better sound system. Party should've been one room only with a chill room period. Could have had a MUCH better result with A LOT more preparation.

In the late 90's and early 2000 I helped quite a few promoters set up a boat load of parties and it seriously takes weeks of effort to pull off. We'd spend weeks working on decorations, making sure the venue was A1 with a backup if necessary, the sound was rented weeks in advance and for 20$+/head there was international talent involved. When came time to set up NO ONE got stoned appart for the occasional joint and the setting up started as early as possible the day of if not the day before. Also, promotion means just that, to PROMOTE your party... Were there even any flyers for this event? Was it promoted in any prior events or was it just off ravewave?

I really felt like "the rave since was dieing" when I saw the empty room... Is it just me or would this have been 10 years ago that place woulda been JAM FUCKING PACKED... Then again shuttle busses are a thing of the past unless I'm mistaken and the venue was slightly out of the way of public transportation.

I think I might just stick to DnB/Breaks/Electro club nights because I was sorely dissapointed... Don't get me wrong I'll give this "new era of raving" another shot (I actually hadn't gone to an actual "rave" in about 5-6 years prior to just a few weeks ago) but I definitely wont have high expectations.

Couldnt agree more with Pat. I remember we'd spend 3 days setting up deco and such prior to the party, and sound was ALWAYS taken care of weeks ahead. Shuttle buses were about 200$ per bus for the night, well that was for arrival(correct me if I'm wrong) so it's really not that much when you think about all those extra heads who woulda showed up cause they had no transportation.

Maybe the party was amazing for ppl who just started raving, which is great-good for them, but for people like myself who no longer rely on drugs to stay up all night and enjoy the parties no matter how it turns out, it can be frustrating when there's a lack of planning and the sound is shitty. I'm sure I'm not the only one who only goes out for 3-4 hours just to dance. Damn I wish Louis Duclos and Michael Swenty were still around, they sure knew how to throw some serious parties... LOL

What the fuck happened ? Are promoters allergic to ORGANIZATION now ?

It's when I hear shit like that that makes me glad I ditched the rave scene. And Lord knows, I was an AVID FIGHTER and defender of it for so long but the sense of belonging is long gone...because of crap like that.

I have to side with Host on this one as well. I did my fair share of spinning in raves. Hell, I did it non-stop for about 3 years. And I've seen ( and dealt with ) this kind of situation happen many times.

I can understand a promoter can run into some problems while making a party but throwing a party isn't a 3 step program where you just 1. rent the venue, 2. bring the stuff the day of the party and drop it on the floor ( it should magically get hooked up by itself ) and 3. let people in.

You need MANPOWER. Ok no wait, I should say RELIABLE MANPOWER. Promoters, GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER YOU LAZY BASTARDS. Even considered, oh I don't know, HOLD AN ACTUAL MEETING to discuss what needs to be done. And I'm not talking about a 15 MINUTES CONVERSATION ON MSN. I'm talking about setting up strict rules about WHO DOES WHAT, what time they have to bring their asses and gear in and who can compensate if they can't show up. Like, erm, actual promoters do because... you know... they can actually promote and stuff.

Yeah, it sounds like fucking work, doesn't it ? That's because throwing a rave doesn't involve just showing up and waiting for shit to happen on its own. It REQUIRES manual and psychological labor, sweat, sometimes blood and mostly, a fucking BACKUP PLAN, a concept that seems to elude you young guns. It's called a PLAN B. It's stuff that lucid, intelligent and smart people do to not end up looking like retards who can barely tie their shoelaces together.

Honestly, if condo builders were run by the same people who (attempt to) throw raves, this city would be a crumbling wasteland of ineffectiveness and half-baked makeshift buildings held together with duct tape and string.

I sorely miss the yesteryears of MINITANK productions. Man, these guys threw parties as if they'd studied that shit at Harvard. Even their very first party was NOTHING compared to what I'm seeing here and elsewhere today.

PROMOTING PARTIES.....YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG.
I'm feeling belkin n52te right now..
