Great venue although too big for the ammount of people who showed up. Room 2 was too small to be considered a second room and had sub par sound (I have better sound in my bathroom for christ's sake). I came for the DnB mostly and was sadly dissapointed. I don't get why the windows werent taped up with cardboard or w/e to make the place pitch black or as close to it as you can, even in the early morning (probably because there was 0 lights lol). This is a classic case of bad promotion, no offense to any involved but let's call things as they are. This venue had great potential, could've housed a much better sound system. Party should've been one room only with a chill room period. Could have had a MUCH better result with A LOT more preparation. In the late 90's and early 2000 I helped quite a few promoters set up a boat load of parties and it seriously takes weeks of effort to pull off. We'd spend weeks working on decorations, making sure the venue was A1 with a backup if necessary, the sound was rented weeks in advance and for 20$+/head there was international talent involved. When came time to set up NO ONE got stoned appart for the occasional joint and the setting up started as early as possible the day of if not the day before. Also, promotion means just that, to PROMOTE your party... Were there even any flyers for this event? Was it promoted in any prior events or was it just off ravewave? I really felt like "the rave since was dieing" when I saw the empty room... Is it just me or would this have been 10 years ago that place woulda been JAM FUCKING PACKED... Then again shuttle busses are a thing of the past unless I'm mistaken and the venue was slightly out of the way of public transportation. I think I might just stick to DnB/Breaks/Electro club nights because I was sorely dissapointed... Don't get me wrong I'll give this "new era of raving" another shot (I actually hadn't gone to an actual "rave" in about 5-6 years prior to just a few weeks ago) but I definitely wont have high expectations. |
