Yes. Every year, you can count on a bunch of morons to think the best way to show police brutality is by making sure to break a fuckload of shit to MAKE SURE they (and several hundred others) get beat up...

... and then come crying about police brutality : police or not, if you try throwing rocks at anyone, you can rest assured they'll beat your ass to a pulp in return.

Apparently, that never occurs to these retards.

I think the problem he has is the same problem many of us have, these peaceful protests turn into thinly vieled excuses to riot and break peoples things. Civil disobedience is one thing a bunch of bored people looking for for an excuse to throw rocks at the police and smash other people's window is something else.

My patience and support for these events ends once they start breaking innocent peoples windows and destroying their property, that is not civil disobedience that is vandalism.
I'm feeling moodless right now..

SURROUND A POLICE STATION, THROW ROCKS AND MOLOTOV COCTAILS THROUGH THE WINDOWS, SET ALL OF THEIR CARS (AND ONLY THE COP CARS) ON FIRE. A PROTEST DOES JACK SHIT, IT'S JUST LIKE PRAYING; A FEEL-GOOD LOAD OF BULLSHIT TO MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU TRIED SOMETHING WHILE REMAINING AS PASSIVE AND INACTIVE AS YOU CAN COMFORTABLY GET AWAY WITH. POLICE BRUTALITY SHOULD BE MET WITH ONE HUNDRED FOLD THE AMOUNT OF VIOLENCE THEY DISH OUT. LIKE THE QUOTE NA POSTED RIGHT ABOVE; "20 000 HARDCORE MEMBERS, 40 00 COUNTING AFFILIATES, AND 20 000 MORE NOT ORGANIZED BUT READY TO FIGHT...60 000 SOLDIERS; NOW THERE AIN'T BUT 20 000 POLICE IN THE WHOLE [ TOWN....CA ] YOU DIG IT, CAN YOU DIG IT!" REVOLUTION AND CHANGE DOESN'T HAPPEN WITH PEACE AND PROTEST, IT HAPPENS WITH VIOLENCE AND FORCE. A MAN NEVER TRULY ACTS UNTILL ANOTHER MAN TRULY DIES. WHAT PEOPLE NEED TO DO IS TAKE WHAT THE KIDS IN FRANCE ARE DOING, BUT BUMP IT TO A MORE FOCUSED ATTACK; WHERE THOSE KIDS WENT WRONG IS THAT THEY TRASHED STORES AND THEIR NEIGHBORS CARS AND HOMES. THAT'S NOT GOING TO ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING OTHER THAN GET THE GENERAL POPULATION TO AGREE WITH THE COPS FOR USING EXTREME VIOLENCE. IN CASE YOU HAVEN'T NOTICED, THE ONLY THINGS THAT MATTER TO MOST PEOPLE ARE THEIR STUFF AND THEIR MONEY. SO IF ANYONE ACTUALLY DOES SOMETHING, THEY SHOULDN'T BE FLIPPING OVER CIVILIAN'S CARS OR BREAKING SHOP WINDOWS, THEY SHOULD INSTEAD BE CONCENTRATING THEIR EFFORTS ON THE PEOPLE THAT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH; THE POLICE. HELL, IF YOU LOOK OVER AT THE UK, THE POLICE IS SCARED OF TEENAGERS! [ WWW.TELEGRAPH.CO.UK ]

dude i don't know about this, your essentially talking about terrorism, if you do this the government will call in the army, this what they do in afganistan they roll into a town and torch the police post in a city, then the US goes after them with helicopter gunships... look at the flq crisis, one mail bomb and a kidnapping and there was tanks on st catherine's...i think it's kinda juvenile to talk like this, it shows that you don't really know what revolution is all about (it's in your mind man). Anyway if 200 people start throwing rocks and molotov cocktails at the cop station at guy and rene, you don't think some of the people inside will be hurt possibly? How long will it be before they start firing tear gas and possibly live rounds at you? If you hurt a cop IT IS ON for them in their minds, just like if you raise a gun at cops they will air hole you in 2 seconds without even think about it.

here are some pointers about the cops:

the cops are not there to protect you, they are there to protect the social order set up to maintane control by very very rich people. This is why the cops will always intervene when you start trashing business' because these are owned by people with money.

cops like to be violent, they enjoy it, they may pretend that it's 'just part of the job' but really deep down they like it, it's a power thing.

above all else cops are not that bright...but of course they like most people who are not very bright don't want to admit it, they like to bust someone down who thinks that they are smarter than them, this is where you can really help yourself out by pretending that you are stupid (like borderline retarded) if you ever have to deal with them. Above all else never ever start getting fresh (literally smarting of to them) by dissing them to their face by saying something sarcastic or something, they will just give you a harder time for it.

enjoy your dealing with the boys in blue...

i do just want to say also that on one point i definetly do agree with fred...change rarely happens through peaceful means (when it does it's the exception rather than the rule), but this means being willing to kill for what you believe in and possibly die if necessary, and that's powerful shit...
I'm feeling surly right now..

Wait, freedom of speech only works if it's one way ? I'm not entitled to my opinion but you are ? So I should shut up ?

If I was really bitching, I would say nothing constructive. Bitching if saying " protests suck " but offer nothing to explain why you think they suck. What I'm doing is called " constructive criticism ".

That's a bit of waht turns me off about protesting : it's about imposing your point of view upon others, not much dialogue and discussion happening there.

If words are weapons, why cover your ears ?

The bitching part to me mostly consist in these two words : morons and retards. not that I feel personaly concerned about it (I don't usualy break anything in thse situations) but, anyway at some point I understand people doing so.............................

anyway, I get your point now, and I won't start bitching myself.

Cool dude, I appreciate it.

I sincerely hope it goes well for you and those who are going with you. If you feel it's important to do that, who am I to discuss, really. :)

Enjoy and don't hesitate to initiate some " protester brutality " upon those who break everything. Hopefully they won't show up this year. HOPEFULLY. Heh.

is it really propaganda? Here is a little experiment you can try (though you may want to clear your day planner if you do this...) fire a gun in the air in wesmount or hamstead and see how long it takes the cops to get there, minutes i would say...do the same thing in verdun or point st charles and you'll wait a while for them to show up...

on the subject of cops enjoying violence, it's totally true, they're muscle [ heads...ca ] may be a bit different in this respect because you have to go to school for atleast three years to be a cop anywhere in canada, but in the states (especially small towns) you can do it straight out of high school, in some places they actually don't even want people who have university to become cops...

if you protest the cops will often say it's matter of public safety but really it's matter of public order, namely the order established by people in power...
I'm feeling surly right now..

I attest, number of times I heard things like "ha ouai! y va avoir de l'action a soir" or e few days ago a the municipal court a random cop "astheure les anti-émeutes, c des moumoune , dans mon temps on leur rentrait d'dans direct", etc, etc, etc.

If not all cops like violence, all fucking anti-emeute likes it, they get their kick out off it

I think these sorts of protests have to be more secretive if they want to be successful, rather than these pubic anger-fests that go nowhere, and if people want to start a revolution they really have to stop trying to use legal means within the democracy to do so, while refraining from informing the populace on the rules, leading to chaos. If we want the world to change, I think we will have to really come up with some sort of ingenious, contrived plan that goes under the radar, or decide to form militias all over the place and try to take control by other means. Unfortunately, all the right wingers already chose the latter option, and it's kind of hard to fight people with guns with attempts at common-sense politics. So it's either let hegemony roll on or become some sort of freedom fighter and try to overthrow things. I figure that's not my game, and really, violence is disgusting, but when you consider that the paramilitary wing of the government is in essence violent, it stands to reason you will have to face violence one way or another in order to overcome it. None of us regular folks can sit down with Kissinger or Rothschild and tell them to tame down the control regime, none of us regular folks are going to be able to say "hey you know what, I'm not down with the North American Union, I'm not down with the endless march of capitalism" and get through to the right people. You ever get pissed off when some asshole-run company gets a hireling to call you about money, only to realize that the guy is just working for a guy working for a guy working for the man, and that you will never, ever get through to the right people? They don't want to know, and they don't want to listen. It's about the same when you're dealing with paramilitary organizations like the Police Force. They'll stop if it becomes a PR issue, but no one would obey any laws if there wasn't the threat of a good beatdown.

Well OK, I sound a little schizo, but seriously, I saw Zeitgeist a while ago and it opened up my paranoia Pandora's box. It's probably an exaggeration, but I still don't feel much hope in the meek folk overthrowing Big Money. And a bunch of punks getting pissed off are not going to chill out the boys in blue. It's like protesters really just want to see how far the other side will go sometimes.
I'm feeling the feeling right now..
