13 assassins by Takashi Miike (2010 Japan)

it's a modern homage to Seven Samurai (1954 Japan). Lots of talking 'till one final battle orgy of death.

Inspired, sure. Homage? Doubtful. Seven Samurai can be resumed as "understanding Confucism through hardships". It's a great movie (definitely one of the most inspirational) but there's a definite philosophical, quasi-religious undertone to it. The main focus is about the social classes and especially about the warrior class better understanding their role in preserving the lower class so as to support you own.

13 Assassins, well... Takashi Miike has never been one for philosophy, other than "blood is the cure for what ails everyone"...
I'm feeling cromulent right now..

We Are What We Are (2010 Mexico)

The eldest son has to take care of the family after the father dies.
Strong start weak finish.

A Serbia Film (2010 Serbia, uncut version)

"An aging porn star agrees to participate in an "art film" in order to make a clean break from the business"

A disturbing film, but don't believe the hype. It's weird how people get shocked when it's on video, but they don't when it's black and white text on the news.

I went to the theatre this Saturday and I was originally going to see Scream 4 but changed my mind when I saw the trailer for Insidious.

Insidious is made by the people who did Paranormal Activity and Saw..
During the opening credits I was kinda doubting it but it turned out to be a good movie..
I don't like spending money on movies in theatres, I usually wait until I can rent them or download them or stream them, but I'm happy that I went to see it (=
Anyways, here's the trailer..

The whole way through the movie, you can pretty much tell what's going to happen next, but there are some parts that still make you jump, which I loved (=

I don't want to ruin anything for this movie because if I say anything you guys won't even have to watch it XD
But I definitely recommend this, it was worth it!
I'm feeling impatient right now..

Kevin Smith's Red State.

Pretty awesome movie. Something Screwhead would probably really enjoy. :D Kevin Smith should do more of these and fewer Clerk-type movies!

agreed but im shure there is worse , even if that one is off the richter mental scale...
the ban era of 1980 had some similar extravaganza of the kind . but yea cant mellow it , its completely sick . but same as the rape scene in " cest arriver pres de chez vous " or "last house on the left 1st vers" etc.. unless your metaly ill that movie isnt advised imho. and even so.

saw priest . its got the post apocalyptic + story i was looking for , but man oh man did they fuckup the zerg rush. , who the hell zerg rush using a single transport.

i rewatch lords of illusion a thousand times and is logically infaiible , but priest fell on my other end of scale , even if it has some goodies. the ending raped my expectations of a non sissy ending that doesnt look like it has too hurry up to throwup on me for no reason....

5/10

toxic advenger , nukem high , toxic advenger 2 even , i would watch 2 times each before thinking of priest , and by god the first animated bit was amazing... shame it left me half way *complete

d* could have been the bomb but i feel they fuked it up as they fucked up t3

yeah Priest was alright, but really I was more interested in what life inside the city was like than in anything with the vampires.. It reminded me a lot of Judge Dredd/Mega City One, but instead of Judges/Cops running the whole thing, it was the church/priests/religion.. I'd be much more interested in a movie set in the city and without the vampires than I was in how the movie itself turned out lol

Lord of Illusions.. man I haven't seen that since the 90s.. I think it's high time I watch it again, because I remember that I *really* liked it way back then..
I'm feeling like a drama magnet right now..

hmm, I dunno.. ok 99% of them so far have been fucking awesome, but Dread kinda flopped for me.. The movie just didn't really seem to get it for me.. ok, I didn't read the actual story, but I've read the comic adaption of it and I *loved* the comic version.. the movie seems like they took the general concept of the story, but stripped out anything edgy or perverse about it, which is really what the whole thing was about IMO...
I'm feeling like a drama magnet right now..

Ah, I haven't seen it.

I remember reading Barker's Book of Blood series when I started high school. One day in class we were asked to reach a couple paragraphs from a book we were reading. I read them the introduction of the first book of blood.

No one really talked to me in that class after that day...

That's how I knew Barker was going to be someone I enjoyed following :P
