MSG stimulates specific receptors located in taste buds such as the amino acid receptor T1R1/T1R3 or other glutamate receptors like the metabotropic receptors (mGluR4 and mGluR1) which induce the taste known as umami, one of the five basic tastes (the word umami is a loanword from Japanese; it is also referred to as "savory" or "meaty").

How messed up is that !

Thog, that's like saying "doesn't a metal hip get dirty ?" XD

It's all folded in a tube, they insert it, it unfolds and it sets into place. No operation. It is akin to an abortion, but the tube is much, much smaller. You have to get an obstetrician/gynecologist to do it, because if it's done improperly, it can pierce the uterus' wall (very rare). So don't let a generalist do it.

Mine took like 20 seconds to install. Thank God, cause my gyn is an old catholic who doesn't believe in pain killers. Those breathing tricks I learned when I got my piercings helped a damn lot !

Screwhead, that is exactly my point; they believed a lot of things because they didn't know better.

Radio waves are now used using possibilities offered by the world we live in, possibilities which were already there back then. We didn't modify the air to make it accept radio waves; we discovered how to use them.

We make discoveries, and then we research how come it works.

I'm pretty sure you can find people in Africa who would see radio emissions as magic. Those people, like the people in 13th century, were not raised with our technology and don't see it matter-of-factly as we do.

What would radio communications be considered as, in the XIII th century, if not magic ?

They didn't have the answers back then. There's a lot of things we don't have the answers for now.

The way I see it, science is limited to what man is ready to accept as possibility and to the hypothesis that have been explored or not, that have been thought of or not.
Since there are an infinity of possibilities (therefore of hypothesis), I think any faith could, in theory, be right. Or wrong. Even if something's "proven" right, there's nothing to say it won't be "proven" wrong 5 years later.
But then again, I'm the type who doesn't even believe fully in what she sees with her own eyes, so...

If we'd be rational, we'd all be like robots !

The rational part can keep control over the irrational part, I suppose.

(I think I usually see the "irrational" sphere referred to as the "creative" side, though.)

Nah, it isn't a nuvaring. Those release hormones, which is exactly what I want to avoid. Most women have a type of IUD which releases progesterone, but there's a type which uses copper instead, which is what I have.

An IUD is a stérilet, btw. I always found the English term to be scary !

Anyway, it stays in for 3 years, costs less than pills and I don't have all the weird side effects of pills (I've been on 3 types of pills, all of them would leave me with various degrees of depression and constant light nausea. Not to mention the risks of embolism!).

I'm just saying...
I got off the pill about 8 months ago, after being on it for almost 8 years, and it's like a veil has lifted off my eyes/mind. A veil of what, I dunno, but I do know that I feel much better and have much more control over my emotions.

I'm not absolutely sane either, but that would be boring ! :)

Yes, I've read the stuff on your profile a while back (which is surprising, considering how I dislike reading long texts on a computer screen)...
I can't say I understand fully, but having spent a good part of my life with trust issues, I think I can relate to the feeling.
All I can say is I hope you find happiness, you seem like a decent person :)

Are you always so full of pessimism ? I'd rather love and get my heart broken, get over it and start the cycle again, then spend the rest of my days being wary of love... that just sounds like a perpetual "peine d'amour" to me.

Define "long distance"

Montreal-Singapore or Montreal-Quebec ? :P

Personally, if it was such a long distance that it could be a serious problem, I'd consider moving, rather than breaking up, if the person was important enough to me.
