I mean would the world of electronic music even exist with out both of these factors? I sometimes wonder if the tree's had grey leaves before the hippies, and LSD brought colour to our planet, And who in the world lives up enough to there own ideals to call down someone else for not attaining theirs. I mean shit what is a hippy anyways, Today I read a post from a guy with dreads down to his ass, who use to always go to psy trance parties 5 years ago, bitching about hippies, Now I hate being called a hippy(not cutting my beard or my hair is my way of saying fuck you) At least a hippy can spell P-L-U-R, and at least they have ideals that they don't live up to. Have fun with that :P |

Who and what would I be rebeling against, my teenage agnst is less and less every day. My hairs long, cause I like it and well if all you see is a hippy, well, that would be the "fuck you" To think I should cut my hair when I like it so idiots don't say hey you have long hair and a beard, you your a fuckin hippy. Long hair and beards have been arround foreven, hippies 40 years? Call me a viking if you must, but shit what is a Hippy anyways, The guy with dreads who listens to DNB isn't (why) and I would be considered one (why?) cause I listen to psy? so if you call me a hippy I reserve the right to hit you in the head, as the only way to prove my inocence;) non-violence being a primary hippy trait. |

hippies and psy didnt invented shit about the electronic music even in the 70 and later hippies were against electronic music, it was all about guitars and stuff electronic music started with house in the middle of the 80's .... psy came along wayyy later ... the only thing hippies invented is lazyness and self dergadation... and its not about the beard or the dreads ... its about fucking dancing BAREFOOT! haha in fact its about thinking that you live with the nature because you think you do stuff wich is good for the nature but if you really wanted to be good with nature, you woulndt dress at all niether eat something that is processed, you would kill your own animals, oh yeah you dont want to kill animals, then get your own vegetables, directly from soil and trees... and you wouldnt get to a rave because rave is 100% un-natural... all the equipement is made in factories that pollutes, as vinyls/cd, uses a lot of electricity that we have to cut forest and changes rivers to do ...if not nuclear electricity... and the music is made with gear that were made by polluting ... so hippies are the biggest scams ever...by living they contradicts themselfs ... its not because you try something new that you started a movement and its not the mood who started all the *techno* music (including psy) its the fucking 808, 909 and 303 in the middle/late 80 with detroit house/techno and stuff thier music is still called prog rock, not eletro-tech-proc-rock ... there is electronic music with uses natural instruments, like house, but its not called house rock or classical house i think were just arguing over a thin line who will never be exactly defined, to know were electronic music start according to ishkur's guide to electronic music, it all started in the cave ages with some homosapiens hitting rock constantly, it made the first tribal house track!!! lol but i still hold to that pink floyd, even if they *used* a synth in thier music, they didnt start electronic music ... in fact it would have been started by early hiphop sampling and making beats with the 808 .... before, it was just experimentations ... |

What you just said makes no sense in my opinion. Its not because you don't do everything that is humanly possible to help the Earth that you're a scam. There's a margin between one extreme and the other... Think about your values: do you respect them in every way possible and spend all your time putting them in practice? mantronik was an early hip hop pioneer and he DID use a moog, among other things. i'm just asking whether or not we'd be here today (with techno, psy and everything else) if it wasnt for these early pioneers; the pioneers who first invented synthesizers and then the pioneers who took a chance by incorporating the new invention into their own music. in fact, would we even be where we are without hippies and lsd in the 1st place? would the synthesizer have even caught on in the mainstream music scene of the 60's and 70's if it weren't for flower power, expanding the mind and lsd? an academic discussion at this point, but still worth pondering over i think... |

 Coolness: 166485 | I don't mind hippie principles, it's just that like ALL other scenes, they tend to do nothing about nothing...I love the music of the times though...but today's "hippies" who listen to Psy are actually more comendable, at least at Psy parties everyone seems united, and they have a good positive time...they just aren't really hippies, and if you look at what most of the hippies actually became (yuppies), I wouldn't want to call myself a hippy...but I like today's Psy tripping free-spirited earth-loving techno-heads...
