I'm not very familiar with any psy dj honestly, because I don't know the genre so well just yet. Does your question include producers?

My interest for psy, mostly the full-on, uplifting and melodic sound, has been growing very quickly recently. I hope I can get to dance to stuff like Electro Sun or Sesto Sento, I mean not necessarily themselves on stage, but overall melodic and full-on sets. That would have me bringing friends, drinking lots and partying pretty hard ;)

^^^ Yup, and that list even seems like a bare minimum to me. what about regular staff (door, stalls, bars, coatcheck, etc.) or promotion (flyers, posters, online/magazine/newspaper ads, etc.). Those seem costly too.

What kind of security do you get for 250$ though? I assumed it would cost way more than that to hire professional security.

ABOUT THE PARTY...
The circumstances are very sad and unfortunate, I hope Simon gets better soon.

That being said, I don't recall seeing a single flyer anywhere for this party. If that says anything about the whole promotion effort, the cancellation might be for the best after all... We wouldn't have wanted to see you guys under a pile of debts because of low attendance.

On a more personal note, I'm also slightly annoyed. I actually learned about the cancellation through word of mouth, and pretty much by coincidence! I had a busy day on friday, and I wasn't on the internet, checking [ rave.ca ] every now and then to make sure the party was still happening. A personal phone call, no matter how last minute, would have been greatly appreciated.

Nobody dissed Hardcore here, what the hell are you on about Martin? And Tuez, psy and harcore catter to different crowds, so there's no taking over going on. If Hardcore isn't as strong as it once was, it's nobody else's responsibility than the people involved in it. Psy parties in & around Montreal showcase real care in deco, sound and overall quality, which results in great vibes. No wonder they get a strong following, and clearly deserved the main room Friday.

The party was great! A big thanks to everybody involved, I had a really good time. S3rl gave us a great show, and from what I heard Principles Of Flight really surprised me. I was really unimpressed by what I had heard on their myspace, but their sound was groovy and funky enough. It's really too bad that the dnb/dubstep room was left unoccupied for most of the night... I think the Hardcore crowd could have benefited from a bigger, more ventilated room with better sound, but oh well! ;)

I find it amusing to hear people say that the Happy/UK Hardcore scene has gone commercial over here in Montreal. I think it's actually the complete opposite right now, and would love for it to go commercial so we could move on from loft parties. This weekend's party was a HUGE step in the good direction IMO.


the whole ''sound'' topic really got my attention too:

Rooms that aren't designed for the acoustics are the worst for sound quality, not outdoors.

About 9 rave venues out of 10 have TERRIBLE acoustics, so outdoor parties are definitely a plus for the sound, unless you are in a perfectly designed room. And not only does the design of the place needs to be flawless, but the speakers must be set-up in a precise and scientific pattern to achieve the perfect acoustic result. Bottom line is, I've never been to a rave with good acoustics, unless it was thrown in a club or theater environment.

With the way it folds and stuff, this is certainly one of the coolest flyers I've seen. I'm looking forward to a party that is as sick as the flyer!

C'était dément! Adrenokrohm est bel et bien sur son dernier album, Phantasmatika (2007), qui est excellent. Je suis loin d'être érudit du psy, mais j'ajoute Hyper Frequencies à ma courte liste d'aristes favoris, près de Skazi et Infected Mushroom.

Indeed, that was beautifully executed! These fire dancers are really good entertainers and they compliment Eclipse's psychedelic vibe perfectly. I was dancing on the main floor right next to them, saturday at midnight, when they began by setting the eclipse logo on fire, and I sat right in front of them to get the best view! Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera on me at that point.

I took a short film of the dancefloor during Juno Reactor's DJ Set on saturday. Here it is:




On my end, I would really like to identify that song that was playing on saturday night at midnight during the fire show, when the eclipse '10 logo was set on fire. It had a distorted and warped vocal that went something like: ''quelqu'un voudrait du lsd?''. It was completely insane!

The song played during the Hyper Frequencies live act, and I'm downloading some of their stuff as we speak so I might be able to find it soon :)

I concur, it is the best Eclipse I've been sor far as well! 2008 was rockin even with all the mud, 2006 will always shine as my very first, but the 10th anniversary really stepped it up.

The music was very well balanced this year in my opinion. The minimal sound was mostly kept for daytime chilling, and we didn't have to wait until the early morning to get our dose of full-on madness. Looking back on it all, I'm very glad to say that my favorite set has been the one of our very own Psydraulix: easy going, funky and energetic psy-trance that doesn't drag on forever and varies as much as can me. The Juno Reactor dj set was pure ear-candy, despite the choppy mixing. I'm a happy hardcore fanatic, and I only fancy psy-trance once a year for Eclipse, but this years music was very interesting and diversified in my opinion.

The deco was completely OFF THE HOOK! After a few years of plain white sheets that would only be interesting to watch in night-time when lit-up by blacklights and visualisations, this year's decor truly felt immersive and artistic. The paintings, the colors and the shapes were to die for.
