Definitely, but spite and criticism are two different things, and spite has a very poor constructive value.

why?

There are so many parties without it, I can't understand how someone that doesn't like Happy Hardcore would go to so many Happy Hardcore parties that they would get tired of it enough to say stuff like that.

I also never knew your feelings toward this music were so intense :P

For example, I don't like Dubstep, so I don't go to dubstep events, therefore I don't hear enough/know enough about it to even bother complain. Why torture yourselves?

I think that's pretty a pretty cheesy track already. This melody would make a killer riff for a Hardcore remix! =P Of course it's not really dance music in it's original version, and I don't see myself getting down to it on the dancefloor. It's good listening music though, I agree!

HHC definitely insn't always the best to bring you in deep introspection and trance feelings, but it's party music after all. It can be very uplifting and energetic, which is a good thing in my book.

In the end it is really a matter of taste, like you say. I tend to listen to happy and melodic music more than anything else, no matter what genre I'm listening to.

Happy Hardcore, dead? In Montreal, it's definitely at an all time low, then again it's the case with a lot of other underground music genres over here. However, it's at an all time high in it's homeland, the UK.

The genre sometimes goes under the name UK Hardcore nowadays. I guess it's to better represent the variety in sounds, that aren't always as sugary as they used to be back in the 90's. A lot of it still is, though.

Now, here's a mix of mine, for those who haven't jumped on the ''I hate HHC'' bandwagon yet =P

I don't know man... A bunch of friends are going to SOMA... I'm not THAT into psy-trance, but I don't want to abandon the crew for NYE... Next one after new years though, we're there for sure!!

it was good times indeed! I was super glad to see you and Jessie there. Oh btw, was that Gobstopper chatting with us outside early in the night? Alex thought it was, I wasn't so sure...

I was so MAD I didn't have any demo cds to hand out! This was a golden occasion for promotion... Next time... next time...

This was my first party in Toronto since the ''Smile!'' attempt, in 2008. I had been to Hullabaloos in 2004/5, but being away from the Toronto scene for so long, I wondered if it was still as crazy as it used to be.

After last night, I can attest it still is. There is definitely not as many kandy as there used to be, but the vibe is still amazing, and the music is still as sweet.

Last night the sound was perfect, and I really liked the venue overall. Nice central location + totally legal and safe.

I had never seen anything like that total request set, and I loved the idea! I was not quite sure what to expect, but it was totally fun.

I'll be going back to TO soon =) Shout out to other Montrealers craving for some awesome HHC parties, it would be great to have 2 carloads going next time ;)

Aww, just for you Ashley: I basically said I am pleased to see all the commodities they will be offering at that event (EMS, Freebies, Deco, MC's, etc.), since we don't see that much anymore at Hardcore parties here in Montreal these last few years. I'm also very pleased with the fact that they are announcing their venue on the flyer, as opposed to 24 hours in advance. I think it's much more convenient for ravers this way.

I'm also totally down for a road-trip to TO! Any other crazy Montrealers in?

Effectivement, le line-up est super intéressant. L'album The Sound Of Hardcore 2009 mixé par Billy Daniel Bunter est malade, alors j'suis certain que son set sera à la hauteur.

***
- TRIP, Hard Corps, and Happy Rave booths!
- World class decor from our own Dream Builders!
- Fresh fruit and candy all night to keep your energy up!
- Free CDs and other giveaways!
- EMS for your safety!
- The traditional NC Kandie Kontest - dress your best and brightest to win the prize!
- FREE Glowsticks for the first 300 attendees - come early to get your votesticks!
- And most important of all, that one-of-a-kind, feel-it-in-your-soul, positively-intense, Happiest-Hardcore vibe that YOU bring with you to each and every one of our events!
***

Even if it is a matter of opinion in the end, as an actual Happy Hardcore dj and enthusiast, I can attest: Orbit1's set sounded nothing like an old cd, had plenty of punch and energy and contained many upfront and exclusive tracks. The people dancing seemed to agree with me very much. Having him as a headliner in Montreal is an honor, and for him and Milo not to get paid is a shame.

That being said, I still want to thank J.S. and Cya for throwing a great party!

Si ils ont une attraction intéressante côté UK/Freeform/Happy Hardcore, count me in. Sinon, j'vais avoir mon baptême du Rocky Horror!

Sam, you really have to be there too if Alex and I go!! And Tiff is very big on Rocky Horror as well, I'm sure we can have a decent posse!
