wow

I was afraid I was paying for 3 raves and going to only one
but, It wasn't the case. Quality in the 3 rooms! big up for this event

The only thing I didn't like was the volume in the HHC room was too high
the sound was like clipping all night and i didn't understand why the djs kept
the levels near the red on the mixer...

Anyways, great night overall
I'm feeling liquid funk right now..

this was NOT a rave.

.... but i loved helping for deco setup at this place. it's such a beautiful room.

and hearing the sound in this place makes me cringe. indoor parties. again. music always sounds so much better outdoors.

rave is about being creative and creating TAZ. it has something about being auto-sufficient and away from the mainstream. this is why a night at the circus is NOT a rave, no matter what the music is. when we enter in that place, we are being puppets, we are not free, we are part of their game.

rave is not just about taking drugs in a club. it's a way of life, it's underground, it's different. parallel economy. away from the system. and if you call yourself a rave promoter, please be aware that you are representing that movement. you are taking responsibility to take the scene to a destination. it's more than just a party and speakers.

you guys did an awesome job with the concept of the party. you are awesomely creative people, and i admire that, and i enjoy working with that. now next time try to be more creative at finding a venue where we can actually get in trance... because when you have to watch your back all the time, and avoid eye contact in case someone may take this for an agreement to grab your hips, that is not a rave. that is not out of the ordinary. that is not magical, innocent, utopic. it is merely another nightclub downtown, with it's consumerism mentality.

let's get away from that - let's be free and FLY! :) :)
to the promoters, and anyone interested in this, this website is a good inspiration -- please take some time to get familiar with the ideas expressed in it.
and ask yourself -- who and what are you really working for.

edit because -- i may sound harsh in my comments, and i want to precise that i am not putting your efforts or the party down. i just see the potential in this kind of events. and i know you have the creativity to put it one step higher. think outside the box. surprise me. surprise us. :) :)

ha ha exT ton commentaire m'étonne.......neo-rave?

Are you crazy? Acoustically speaking outdoors is the WORST in terms of sound quality

hmm to my ears it always sounds better outdoors.
the big speakers in an indoor party feels like cramming an elephant in a 4 1/2.
the sound is, yes, very physical. but it lacks.... something. maybe it lacks space? i can't say what, i'm not a sound person. but that's just what i feel as someone who is on the dancefloor.

The party was great! A big thanks to everybody involved, I had a really good time. S3rl gave us a great show, and from what I heard Principles Of Flight really surprised me. I was really unimpressed by what I had heard on their myspace, but their sound was groovy and funky enough. It's really too bad that the dnb/dubstep room was left unoccupied for most of the night... I think the Hardcore crowd could have benefited from a bigger, more ventilated room with better sound, but oh well! ;)

I find it amusing to hear people say that the Happy/UK Hardcore scene has gone commercial over here in Montreal. I think it's actually the complete opposite right now, and would love for it to go commercial so we could move on from loft parties. This weekend's party was a HUGE step in the good direction IMO.

the whole ''sound'' topic really got my attention too:

Rooms that aren't designed for the acoustics are the worst for sound quality, not outdoors.

About 9 rave venues out of 10 have TERRIBLE acoustics, so outdoor parties are definitely a plus for the sound, unless you are in a perfectly designed room. And not only does the design of the place needs to be flawless, but the speakers must be set-up in a precise and scientific pattern to achieve the perfect acoustic result. Bottom line is, I've never been to a rave with good acoustics, unless it was thrown in a club or theater environment.
I'm feeling motivated right now..

yeahh me too i find it weird that people say happy hardcore is commercial...... it is SO not commercial. would you see that music play at CKOI genre, or at the beach club? sooo not. i don't think it could ever become commercial because most people can't get into that state of mind.

and i was really happy to dance in the hardcore room at this party, it's been forever i have not danced to that music... but with all the people moving that much, the room was way too hot... how do you guys do it? :P

and also i really don't get why the dnb/dubstep room was so empty...
I'm feeling love right now..
