Wait though... there's been a lot of discussion but I'm still confused here Liam. Don't you need a 6-input recording device for the MPC, or are you only recording mixes? I guess you solved that but I can't help but think Traktor's not what you use to record mixes at all... so what did they give you with the package? And does your mixer have multiple inputs? I would have personally gone with purchasing a mixer running into one of those presonus boxes.

I've only used tcpdump in SmartTerm which means it had a simplified perl script to it. I can't figure out the syntax for the command really, and I also get the picture that you need to run it inside the switch to monitor traffic on a switch. So it starts to go a bit over my head there.

Not to mention sexual assault! Don't forget, the main issue is that even a FEMALE officer sexually assaulted this woman. Something very wrong there. Maybe they all get off on that shit and have donut orgies afterwards. Fuckers.

Actually I'm not sure if tcpdump even comes with Darwin... I tried the command line a few times and don't remember it even found the application. Might need to enter sudo mode.

A lot of the cops at G20 were from Ottawa and other parts of Ontario if that tells you anything about the prevalent psycho tendencies of the OPP and municipal police. Toronto used to have to suffer through Julian Fantino before as police chief but now he runs the entire province, and lo and behold, it's like the 51 division spread all over the province

I was going to say tcpdump but Nico beat me to it. But the command line is a bit screwy for mac for it and I find I can't remember how to get it to make sense or even work properly. I wanted to do that a while back at my house, I have four computers I want to keep tabs on.

I drink a fair amount, but of course you never gave a time frame. 12 in an hour would leave me rather pissed drunk, like most people. Over a night, where other drugs are involved, and a few chances to drink water or piss it out, sure, no problem. I've done 12 beers, a half bottle of scotch, and several shots of vodka, then drank a good deal of rum or something. It started kicking in pretty hard during the scotch and I might have wanted to stop but it was an after-funeral party. We put the fun in funeral.

Moloch, this is just a tech support thread, why all the hate? Someone shit in your poorly spelled cron fleaks?

I don't get why you keep talking about how people are idiots if they think the specs have something to do with it, considering that even top of the line machines run into browser problems. Stop being an asshole and start offering up some solutions, you seem to think you know it all. When you troubleshoot you have to brainstorm, and it's much more useful to explain why not than to throw around your generally misanthropic insults.

Yeah Liam I think there are a few things to consider:

- driver problems, particularly with the video card, which could explain why scrolling causes problems, could of course also be video issues
- browser cache or Java problems, ie some sort of script that can't get purged

I say these two are possible culprits because you said that scrolling causes issues. I had a failing video card that didn't like Flash-based pages much or scrolling, because it had to move the whole page around. I would get artifacts for a while (lines across the screen that wouldn't go away, etc) and I would often see the whole computer freeze if not just the browser crashing when I tried to load videos. I think there's a diagnostic tool out there somewhere that can confirm that, and really, if I'm wrong big deal, I'm just relating the last time I saw that happen.

It's not going to do a hell of a lot but try clearing the browser's cache too. I know it sounds useless and everyone will probably say so but sometimes these mystery problems have to do with some stupid error that is in the cache. Not saying I think that's what it is though. One way to check that I guess is to totally uninstall Firefox and then reinstall it. But Java is rather powerful and can sometimes act almost like a virus if badly scripted.

I'm not doing this for a living but I used to, so please god let anyone who disagrees please not be a dick about it.

There are always things slowing down the internet experience. For my area of Toronto there's really bad bottlenecking around 9pm and I can't download shit or stream videos at all, speedtest gives me 0.6 down, 0.5 up, really crappy for Rogers, but they don't give a shit about Vaughan and Oakwood. I think it's because the Rogers trucks are red.

So back when the whole veganism topic was brought up, three pages ago, I couldn't help but want to put in my two cents.

Veganism is only a viable option if you are a) running your own sustainable community or farm or b) if you live in a city, and are in a position of extreme privelege, ie being able to choose what you eat in that picky a manner because you actually have enough money and time (of course these are interchangeable) to do tedious research on every commercial product and find alternatives which are always overpriced.

I don't want to start a fight. I tried to be vegan for a while (almost 4 years in fact) but it was really expensive and the people I had to hang out with to be able to eat right were picking at every fucking product existing, which after a while became infuriating because the extreme path of veganism entails giving up on millions of things while having a bunch of expensive and often ineffective supplements, vitamins, and alternatives often ridden with bizarre chemicals instead of actually being natural.

So in short, I feel that if you're vegan the only way to do it properly and efficiently is if you handle all your own means of manufacturing. You would have to have a farm with a vitamin/supplement lab and your own sources of fabrics. Otherwise you feed the machine.

It's much simpler of course to accept that you want to reduce harm instead of going out of your way to save every animal that you think is cute from being eaten (I mostly mean cows, not the dolphin above, why would you eat that guy, he's smarter than most of us), and in that case the good old cow diagram at least reassures me that there isn't really that much waste going on. Problem is, in the modern food industry, those things never all come from the same breed of cow.

I did but only because I'm totally over-sensitive. That's also why I disappeared. It was spiralling out of control and I had to catch myself. It's up to you if you still want to take me literally, I was pretty incensed for a while but I think I can let it go if you can. I'm just really hurting. I think it's horrible how people with so much to offer to the world are always the ones we have to leave behind.

I have no intention of hurting you anymore Alex, you actually wrote me a very kind apology in that PM and I respect that. But don't feel the need to do the back and forth to any further criticisms. I feel stupid fighting when I should be remembering my friend, and you probably feel stupid for having set me off, and don't like getting dissed in the public forum on here (like anybody else). But look, I think we were both wrong, I over-reacted but I'm really touchy right now, you aren't going to get killed and even if I was insulting it's the way this site seems to go, and if you can let it go so can I.

But BDK I will hold on to forever. I can't let you go.

A eulogy responded to with "lol repost fail"... you show your immaturity over and over again, you talk shit to people who actually know what they're talking about, who they're talking about, and have had actually hard lives instead of suburban dreams of tough life.

They actually know me for the "volley of blows" in my circle. Never lost a fight. Now I wonder if you're worth going to jail again over but I wouldn't hesitate to put you in your place like a misbehaving child. A good spanking with your own severed arm might be appropriate. I think that you often feel really gangster because you occasionally get a headshot in video game land but you're really a fat loser who talks shit. Shit that you can't back up. Everybody has seen you get beat up, and you cried like a little pussy about it afterwards. You were like Eric Cartman vs. Kyle. You were the Gorf to the other guy's Kirk.

So really, you feel like you can make up for your insecurities with your internet persona. Good for you. It's good to see you trying. But I don't need to worry about where this will end, in all honesty in person if you said that it'd be a scrap, people would calm down afterwards, and you'd look like an asshole no matter what. It doesn't change just because this is the internet. Pay your respects if you want but otherwise don't pull your clever internet meme responses when someone reposts with a eulogy.

So really, who started shit? Who decided to be a smartass in response to someone in grief? You did. And you pissed me off. So either apologize or suffer. I don't need to explain why I'm angry any better than that.

As I'm sure very few of you are aware, we lost a legend in the Canadian breakcore/IDM/raver pop scene this week in a tragic and awful way that I'm not at liberty to discuss. He was declared dead on Tuesday night and we thought he was going to make it. It's fucked.

Many of you may have no idea who this is, but I'd appreciate if you refrain from saying anything stupid in this thread. This guy had more talent in his middle finger than most people have their entire lives. If you don't like the videos posted then stay out of the thread, because to me and a lot of other people this is heartbreaking. I wish I could do the kind of shit he was doing musically but don't envy the lifestyle he was living to do it.

The following are some of his best tracks. If you like give him a nod, pay your respects, but no hate please.

A couple of actual videos with Carl and Jesse from the three-piece form of BDK, a bit hard to look at Peter and not get choked up in this, especially given the irony of this number:

And my favourite, the track that has seriously been making me lose my mind and break into tears:

The hit single - because our baby has gone away... bye bye...

This guy was super-cool and then hit hard times. He was just picking shit up in his life when he passed away, and honestly it was a shock for it to happen now and not during his days of darkness. I don't know if any of you can feel this but nobody else sounded like Peter, and I think the legacy he left behind is a sign more of us need to drop some fucking amazing lyrics over our shit instead of being all cookie-cutter and trying to rinse good wobbles all the time. Be original fuck. If you pass away tomorrow do you kids want to be remembered as one of many or the one and only?

So any of you out there who loved his music and can't believe he's gone, all those of you just discovering this with this post, even you haters out there who are going to slag the man over his vices, turn these tracks on, turn it the fuck up and dance like there's no tomorrow.
