I totally agree with Ponchalice's analysis. Barack Obama in 2008 by far received the lionshare of contributions from Wall Street and as Ron Suskind outlined in his new book "Confidence Men", Obama rewarded them with tame/useless new regulations that does nothing to help the average consumer.

Ironically, today most Democrats represent the richest states and districts (New York, Illinois, Massachusetts, California) where the financial industry is the top industry in their area...so they will not dare rein in their friends. And Republicans represent areas (Mississippi, Oklahoma, Texas) where people believe the rich deserve their wealth because they worked harder than everyone else and should be left alone. The upper class has used this schism to their advantage since at least 1981 and it has worked perfectly. And remember, it was Bill Clinton who deregulated most of Wall Street in the 1990s (Glass-Steagall being the biggest rule change).

Basdini you gotta learn how to communicate effectively. Bullet points man, not TLDR. Basdini's first wall of text basically said that in order for the protests to be effective they need to begin developing some real demands...i think that the ones proposed are a good starting point, they being:

1. Student Loan Amnesty.

2. Stop Foreclosures.

3. Defend and fully fund the social safety net. (Food Stamps, S-Chip, Head Start, WIC, Social Security, Medicare)

4. Pay for healthcare and social services with a 1% Wall Street Sales Tax.

If you watch the videos, the protesters are not all "hipsters". There's a lot of working class moms and people in business suits...don't make this a fucking fashion issue you idiots.
I'm feeling focused right now..

No computer makes hard to follow [ rave.ca ] speed read the thread but didn't check the links. ...Pressed for time, short basic post. You as in everyone+me.

.

.

*** okay fine, you can blame the Regulators for not doing their jobs and letting the insurance banks and investment banks go crazy in Bank gone WILD.

*** okay fine, you can blame the government(S) (of various nations) for putting or retracting sloppy laws that restrict the financial institutions.

*** okay fine, you can blame the bankers who let lower their loan policy standard, so any joe can apply for a credit.

***BUT you need to blame the hundred of thousands JOES and JANES who TOOK out a LOAN who KNEW that they couldn't afford to pay back. DUDE you CAN'T pay the mortgage on that house... why are you purchasing it. Basic "middle-class and lower middle-class" were lying to themselves. Because the banks give you credit, it doesn't excuse you for the dumb shit thinking that you are richer than you really are.

Protest at Wall Street, but protest at your fellow citizen crib, who he declared himself bankrupt. Who he defaulted on the payments. The payments(+interests) which the investments bank sold to insurance banks. The insurance covering people's pensions plans, small to big business, and what not.

It's easy to go for the big guys 'cause they're a big target. How easy is it to go after your equal?
Be fair in love and war.

I think people have a right to be upset about how the "system" works and how the government's either unwilling to re-examine the process or simply chooses to ignore the peoples outcries. Whether this will change anything or start a revolution of sorts has yet to be seen, either way, we were never promised a fair world in the first place, were we...

Yeah a bunch of hippys in tents is the solution to the worlds problems. Do you guys really believe aseembling in a PUBLIC space to complain is really going to change anything?

Americans are capitalistic, its the system THEY CHOOSE, and in a capilistic system whoever makes the most money is the most successful captalist. So dont blame the rich, they're just smarter at gaming the system.

Blame the idiots who went out and took loans they couldnt afford to buy houses and cars and other things. Its like blaming your drug dealer for your crack addiction. Did he tell you to buy the drugs?
No YOU choose to buy them.

The concept of democracy implies that people should be allowed to voice their opinions.
Like you just did.
So, err, thank you for that, Blisss? Now why don't you go back to beatmatching two tunes together?

To Blisss: Thats exactly what the tea party has been saying all along.

The type of capitalism that is being imposed to the peoples in the u.s. is hijacking the political process and undermining democracy in what is supposed to be the most democratic of countries.

You think public demonstrations don't change things? Tell that to the peoples in Tunisia, in Egypt and all over the world, who have toppled fascist dictatorships by assembling in public.

Public assembly is as democratic as it gets. You reckon a riot would be more productive?
