For all djs who spin music in front of an audience, i know it's better to pay for the music. but should every average music listener do the same thing? i dont :/ i'm the only one to listen to the music i download.. on my ipod or whatever...and i download wayyy less than any DJ would.. the way i encourage artists is by going to see them live. is all that controversy of paying for music just for the djs?
I'm feeling ready to rumble right now..

I think it applies more for the DJs because we're actually making money ourselves, so it's totally taking advantage of other people's work to prosper.

What I personally think would work best is to have DJ versions of the songs that are longer and have the intro/outro to mix, a 2nd breakdown, etc.., and to have a free public version of the track with not as much of an intro, maybe no 2nd half change-up of the song, etc.. for the general public to get for free.. or for new releases, follow the same idea, but release the two tracks as a small 2-track mix with no mix-in intro on the first one and a cut/abbreviated 2nd tune.. that way the fans can have something to listen to, and the people who want the whole thing can buy it.
I'm feeling like a drama magnet right now..

No. Let's not be crazy about it too! But like Screwhead said, we make money off that. so it's normal to share a part to the producers! It's like ( exemple ) a bartender who does bar service for waiter like my job. The Waiters bring the booze, would it be fair if I had no money off the tip at the bar since i was the one making all the drinks? no. So they give me a % of the sales, 1.33 % around. It's not that much by waiters, but all the waiters together it makes a big difference. Same for the producers, if all dj's doN't share their allowed part, who would be as crazy to produce again? So yeah ,for me it's super important to encourage artist since without them i couldn't be djing. As for downloading tracks for yourself , you should at least buy a cd once in a while to encourage your favorite artist I guess.
I'm feeling limouzine magazine right now..

noah.

wow.

what a surprise.*sarcasm*

i wish one day someone steal from you or if one day you have an idea someone steal it or i hope someone write a book or do a movie about all the bad stuff you did in your life and make a shit loads of money out of it and that you get NOTHING. :)

stealing "robin hood style" the big corporations is one thing but in the actual status quo it is disgusting to abuse/steal repetitively from independent labels.

a lots of artists would like to make their money out of THEIR INTELLECTUAL PROPRIETY. ( and we are not talking about transformative art here inc. sample etc..etc)..

touring and making money out of merchandise is not the ultimate aspirations for a vision as a label or for an artists...

you probably never toured in your life.. these artists have worked hard and when you know them you realized that flights after flights; touring is not what it seems when your perspective is from the crowd..

artist wants to make money out of their music and if not well they do free label online or give away their own stuff when THEY want.. NOT WHEN A FUCKING WEBSITE SOMEWHERE IN MOTHERFUCKING RUSSIA WANTS OK.

whatever... here we goes again// arrgg

ps: interesting thoughts/ideas Screwhead...
I'm feeling hitched right now..

Well for most people (such as myself) who listen to a song once and then delete it or archive it because there is so much other stuff out there it's just not reasonable to buy that music... For the regular person who is not making money from the music I don't see why I would have to go out and buy everything. After all if I like the music I'm listening to it will give me reason to go out and pay to listen to that person live and if I didn't download that music for free then I'd probably never know that person existed...

Not to mention I don't believe for a second that you have not downloaded for free or made a copy of a movie or computer program or music before. If we did a vote I'm sure 100% of us on this site are guilty.

Ow and we all look at porn for free also!
