when i posted the track , they werent made to be played , and left there turning till they're done. that could be an instant of about 10s , to then be gattling'ed with a dozen of other surprised variety , like you said , too much the same going on , i dont even want to party anymore cause i think some djs just lock on the same comfortable zone for hours. music needs silences , pauses , variety in time , structure and scales. and distabilisating intelligent structure surprises . shit the crazyier the better , i will agree with you and wally that certain music genre wont work at certain moments. but thats bad chemistry up front. if you stick to the nevrozed to the bone auditory voyage then you can mingle anything with anything , as long as your goal is the element of surprise on every steps.

we where flooded for years with certain uk tracks, that just by looking at the gooves on the records alone you know there was practically no shit going on. and your 8y old nephew could have made a better job with his electronic toys . the truth not all tracks are good , some artist you would sell your soul for their tracks , but they arent different from no other , in the sense that at some point they released something thats gonna appeal too lazy to you , or go with the all too popular phrase "what the fuck they where on i have no idea , but i have an other record from them that makes this look like an elephant piece of shit" .

and even worser truth is that some really good tracks can be train wrecked out of recognition , slightly or massively , out of interest for everybody no matter how good the track is .

to me once you bring your best , the material counts for 200%, when you play for an other 200% , each of witch can cancel each other or boost each other like the tension phenomenon. (principles of peak canceling)

boundaries are made to be broken but at a price : has to be bleeded for . esp in defining the new.

i'm not angry... or aiming anyone in perticular with that sentence... I just get irritated at people who are extremely narrow minded in terms of music... shunning away anything that isnt the exact thing they wanna hear and not even giving a chance to a sound...

anyways, I can show you a bunch of tunes that are retardedly high energy glitch hop... glitch itself is really more of a type of sound than an accual genre anyways so it represent a very wide spectrum of different vibes

@ cutterhead exactly ( i had to re read that a couple times my brain doesn't work well in the morning lol ) the problem is the risk factor as well as who can perform it, thats where the dj comes into play indefinitely to improvise and have a good feel for the vibe on the dance floor, having a rave with one genre is good and bad depending on how die hard the fans are for that particular genre, for me i don't mind going to an all psy rave because i love it i even find myself dancing to psytrance on my way home on the metro lol (the metro makes beats its pretty jokes) anyway but it can also be bad because it's nice to switch it up so if i say im gonna hit -blank- rave i'll see maybe 3 or 4 genres that are different thats also a problem, they also are usually close to the same category, not all of them though some of the raves i hit had a huge variety n those are the best nights because it's always changing it's a great experience and the vibe is crazy

thats why we need variety - but a variety of choice that the people have chosen like instead of there being hard style melodic trance jungle etc on the line up it'd be dnb psytrance hardcore etc because it was what's voted.... where the hell was i going with this ? i'm really tired i had a point lol but anyway i agree doing things out of the ordinary can be fkin dope, having pauses playing risky shit sometimes is a good thing, think outside the box kinda deal. im gonna update this when im more awake im not sure if this all made sense haha

@rawaii for sure, alot of people hate on shit that they don't give a chance, i used to be the same way lol i'd be down to hear some of that, sounds like a cool concept it has no guidelines or limits ^^

time for some fkin coffeeeee lol

As for real, pure glitch.... This is what it sounds like:

Correct! Autechre were pioneers of the genre,

And you can come up with as many labels and sublabels as you want, but all those styles from glitch, to dnb, breakcore, dubstep, to nu skool breaks are all essentially "breakbeat" based forms of music.

For those of you who don't know what a breakbeat is, its literally "un beat cassé". It is the complete opposite of the 4 X 4 *boom boom boom* that characterizes the three predominant sounds in raves -) techno, trance and house

It has its roots in hip hop and early electro. In fact the first Autechre album is heavily influenced by both early New York hip hop and stuff like Kraftwerk.

Thats why you can find styles like jungle, dubstep, breaks, and glitch mixed together at the same night or even in the same set ;) Its all interelated music.

Subcategories are useful for marketing and making subtle distinctions, but I think they end up being divisive on the long run. If you take a step back and look at the BIG picture, you'll realize that its all the same family.

Remember the biggest "purist" in history was guy called Hitler.

y'know... I hate to interject here, cause most of what you've thrown out there has been spot on... but I have to clarify something, because originally the term break came from the 'break' in the song... the brief solo where the drummer gets a little chance to shine... hence you have named breaks that originate on records that are seen as priceless in the hands of crate diggers... it could have just as easily been called a fill... it was only later on, when people really got into chopping up the break, that people started to associate the break with it being broken - but it's a bit of a misnomer to assert that the term comes from the fact that the beat has been broken up in some way.

a brief history lesson on just one break...

for the record, there are a ton of other breaks out there; Skull Snaps, Funky Drummer... hell, there's even famous breaks on tracks by Kenny Rogers (Tulsa Turnaround - check it out) and Fleetwood Mac's Christine McVie.

Fishead I am well aware of the origins of breaks & you are absolutely right

I was talking more in the context of electronic music. You can't make a jungle track without using breakbeats, you can't make a dubstep track with using a breakbeat, you can't make hip hop without using a breakbeat, and so and so forth

I was actually going to post that video because it illustrates my point perfectly. In that video you can hear the same BREAKBEAT used in : Jungle, Drum N Bass, Breaks, Hip Hop, and I've heard it used in dubstep

Thats what I meant when I said the breakbeat is the unifying factor between all those styles regardless of the genre.
