I like the Mill St. Tankhouse quite a bit, and you can get this Innis & Gunn ale at the LCBO that tastes fucking amazing. I just bought myself a bottle of Jura Superstition however, and I personally think it's the whiskey season.
I'm feeling caps lock right now..

I can't not chime in on this thread, cause, well, everyone knows I love beer... here are a few I drink on the regular and really <3

-Bodingtons
-Hein
-Stella
-Belle Geule Pilsner
-Killkeny
-McCauslin Cream Ale (so fucking good from the tap)
-Alexander Keiths IPA
-Grolsh
....

Also, I've been rather addicted to the Bitburger Tall boy cans of late, it could be because it's half decent german brew, it could be because there's something toxic and addictive in the cans, or it could be because they are 7bucks for 4 cans...

Ufot-beer over any other liquid, any day, HANDS DOWN!
I'm feeling happy as a panda with car troubl right now..

Try the Selection SAQ. The one at Les Ailes has a few now and then. The ones on Beaubien and on Maisonneuve carry a few as well. Though it'll most likely be deluxe versions of Jim Beam and Jack (crap, basically), you might find a few Blanton's, Woodford Reserve or Evan Williams'. It's not the best stuff but it sure goes down well!

not a big fan of beer but love the Chimay(the blue one).. i'm more of a Lambic or Pineau de Charentes or Porto or Champagne type of gal! But i like to try new things..

i hate Pabst Blue Ribbon, labatt, Colt, Bud or this type of beer.. Recall me my first few beers as teenager...BullMax type of shit hahahah

on a budget i would go with Torpedo Sierra Nevada.
I'm feeling hitched right now..

Jojo just took the words right out of my mouth.

Why do most stores not have X? My guess would be supply and demand... convert more people... get people to ask for these things... it'll happen! ;)

Or, sometimes, they just lose the stuff. I was looking for something at the big SAQ on de Maisonneuve the other day, and they had lost 18 bottles of it somewhere in the back store! They looked up their inventory, searched for it and ta-da...
I'm feeling ribs plx right now..

They all were at SAQ at one point or another. I know, I bought them all :P For some really weird reason, SAQ seems to give priority to Irish whiskeys, with fewer Scotches and even fewer Ryes (which makes no sense, being that hey, they're Canadian).

I think that the main problem with Bourbon is that people buy the Jack Daniels hype and think all bourbons are cheap whiskeys. So there's not much demand.

You really have to go outside Quebec to get good bourbon. LCBOs are your best bet.

Ironically, I found more/better bourbons at Yodobashi-Akiba (department store in Tokyo) than I have here, even though USA's our physical neighbor.

merci.

that's why playing gigs in Kentucky is nice... access to some really great bourbon for dirt cheap. 18yo Elijah Craig for the win.

I'm pretty sure that I've seen Baker's or Basil Hayden at the SAQ in the last year... but with bottles of said Elijah Craig - and a stash of Booker.... I haven't really been shopping for bourbon.
I'm feeling new records right now..

easy access from SAQ: checkvar, duvel, chimey grand reserve

In toronto: tankhouse ale.. tankhouse is amazing for the price

impossible to find: a good british style bitter with a low alcohol content.. once in a while a brupub has one.

overall: hard to say, for me it's really the value.. I recently found a 6-pack of fin du monde for 8.99 (someone made a mistake!). That was good. I bought a few local beers that I can't remember the name of that were awesome.. will have to take note of it I only remember from the label.

best cheap beer I can find at most deps: st-ambroise pale ale

stuff I avoid: mass-produced swill... heineken gets included here.
I'm feeling meow right now..
