Drugs are taken at musical events as a social lubricant, and in that respect alcohol and weed are by far the most common.
A bar without alcohol wont work no mater how good the music is.
Fact is, peoples need to let loose and drugs help in that matter.
The fact that we keep judging and convicting peoples for illegal drug use is totally unjust, hypocritical and arbitrary and is motivated by greed.
You think the politicians and law makers don't get wasted sometimes?
I'm feeling filterbanks right now..

well I agree it's hypocritical.. especially since the CIA was actually flying in planeloads of cocaine from their drug kingpin buddies in South America and selling it to crack dealers and gangbangers in Los Angeles.. all to fund their covert wars on socialism. this was done with the tacit approval of the Reagan administration. they agreed to turn a blind eye.. let the CIA do what they had to do to raise the cash that they knew congress would never approve. this is a matter of fact. so that makes the "War on Drugs" very hypocritical and convoluted

and the fact that opium production was outlawed by the Taliban, but has now shot back to even more than ever before, under US occupation... that is hypocrisy

people high up in the US government have overseen or been aware of their people running drugs around the world for several decades - it's huuuuuuuuge business. capitalists go where the money is

however... cocaine, heroin, meth, crack.. arent exactly child's play - shit will fuck you up. peole outlawed it for a reason. I'm nt saying the way they went about it was the right way... but outlawing Meth is a bit different than misguided puritans outlawing whiskey.

I agree that crack, meth, injected cocaine, heroin and ketamine are very dangerous substances, but making them illegal has done little to stop production and demand. Most peoples that take these drugs for reasons far beyond social lubrication, quite the opposite, and could be better taken care of in a less coercive setting than a prison. Hell if Ibogain [ en.wikipedia.org ] where legal, most of these addicts could kick there drug habits, but there's more money in treatment than in a cure.

... And btw, Yesterday, I heard from a pretty credible source that outdoor party's in the province of Quebec would be illegal next summer.

Now that would suck ass...

It's probably because of the lack of emergency exits. Heh.

Lots of things are illegal, does not stop people from doing them... Only makes people want to do them more. All it takes is a generator, some speakers, a couple of lights and a location outside, preferably on crown land... All you need is five people to chip in 50$/month and you can rent all the stuff easily and have an outdoor party once a month. In BC there are like 50 outdoor parties every weekend in different parts of the province. They are lucky it never snows there really way out west.

Fact is that if there are no noise complaints, no authorities will ever show up... People said we would not be able to continue at the mountain because of the new NOISE rules in the plateau. We continue just at a lower volume and everything is perfectly fine without any more complaints.

Also making something illegal also informs people to what other people are doing. With the information people can make up their own minds and maybe even more people will start throwing outdoor events. For most things in the world, the popularity of them goes up when people put on restrictions, just look at prohibition!

Police raid Elk Lake, Ontario... Illegal distribution of alcohol! People don't stop drinking! They drink more! Shut one down, three take over!

I'm feeling nuclear right now..

I remember that prick, that was a dark time in the rave scene, and there was that other dude too, Crazy Eddie, that guy was a real asshole. He threatened to break my legs when he cornered me with a couple of his thugs because I was flyering in the SONA parking lot.

But again it was mainly promoters fighting over the drug money, I wouldn't be surprised if Ray Junior or Crazy Eddie worked for the bikers or some other criminal group.
I'm feeling sunshine right now..

Ibogaine is legal in Canada - you can buy it legitimately online... it's just really fucking expensive.
