Viruses for mac do exist, but they're quite hard to catch!

Like all other systems... Virus for Linux/UNIX exist too...

But like all OS, more they will be used more people will try to hacked them

Much as Apple makes their own software (well, at least, re-engineer an existing OS to make it their own...), they're primarily a hardware company, not a software company. Software is easy to pirate, hardware isn't so much.. So you want to use their software, you have to get their hardware..

There are MP3 players twice the size of iPods for half the price and that work just as well, but iPods are a status symbol.. Same with the PCs.. Hardware-wise, the average iMac is a 500$ computer built-in to a 200$ screen that's sold for $1400...

Is the OS really worth 700$????

I know what you meen, but since a while now, they stop making that much hardware on PCs.

Most of their engineers work's now for the other divisions, like Ipod/Iphone/Mice/etc.
Their EFI (sort of BIOS in PC) they used is compatible for AMD and other CPU like VIA.
Their board are engineered by Intel most of the time.
Etc...

We always hope to get more for our money, maybe that's why some like me still hope Apple will stop pushing only 100% Apple products.

Let me hope... lol

yeah, they're not MAKING the hardware, they're just re-selling it at over 200% markup! They make software, yes, but the real money they make is in convincing people to pay 2x more for something just as functional.

Let's also not forget that all those fancy iGadgets like the ipods and iphones are made in sweatshops by kids! I remember when Nike did that everyone was in an uproar and boycotting them... But people seem completely ignorant (or unwilling to admit) that buying iProducts is essentially supporting slavery in asian countries.

You'd be surprised, actually. My dad sells fabric to clothing companies, most of the clothes I have are made locally with locally-produced fabric. The only t-shirts I've got that I can't vouch for the history of are things that friends or other family members have bought for me, and that's maybe 6 shirts total... And the socks I've got to go with my Nike Air Rifts

Not counting socks, I've got no more than 20 "non-local" things that I can think of..

Of course, the thing is, I also don't particularly care much about that crap; I just want to point out that all these "green" eco-friendly Mac-lovers that are all about proving to everyone how much better they are than the rest of the planet are actually hypocrites being ripped off by an incredibly efficient marketing campaign.

I don't care where my clothes are made (circumstance just happens to make 95% of my wardrobe 100% local) or where my gadgets are assembled, or how the animals that make up my burger are abused and mis-treated.. but the people who tend to have the "holier-than-thou" attitude about their macs ARE those kinds of people, and I just love watching a hypocrite try and justify their hypocrisy.

All my clothes are made in sweatshops since I don't own any of that American Apparel crap.

But explain me this : what makes it so that for two blue t-shirts exactly the same, made from the same fabric and both made in China in sweatshops, one will be 15$ and the other 60 $ ? What's the justification for the 60$ one aside from "well that one's sold by a well known designer" ?

Bottom line is, it's still 2 fucking blue cotton t-shirts, regardless of what store you bought it. :)

And Melo, what trashy porn sites did you go to on your PC to get viruses every 2 - 3 months ? I got one recently and the one before that was at least 2 years prior. And my big expensive security system is... AVG Free. So I don't get it. Heh.

Like MAC VS PC... lol
Maybe like Diesel VS Urban Planet

And.... at the same time some would pay 2-3-4 times the price for a brand, those same person will complain because a computer/dvd player/coffee maker/ETC (no matter the brand) will be 5-10$ higher at your store compare to WALMART... lol

One is worth more cause they put in more advertising money and they need to make that money back. Also in a world of choice, you have to give people options to pay more or less for the exact same thing. It's how the world works!

Seriously lol, I've had my own computer since I was 15, I'm turning 29 on monday, and I have had all of TWO viruses in almost 14 years of computer use; the first was the first one that used the Windows Update bug in XP (pre-SP1) that let the virus install itself just from you being online, no clicking, no open browsers, nothing (I think it was Code Red or some other IIs exploit?).. And the other one was something that I got about 6-7 months ago that I don't remember the name of that none of my anti-virus or spyware/malware scanners picked up at all..

And like, I've got 532 gigs of downloaded porn in the past 4 months alone!

As for the computer, i bought a mac cuz i want something safe for my gigs.It never crashed out,i have just as much space as I want. It's purfect for my gigs, and 1150 $ for a brand new laptop with the specs i was looking for was all right. How many time i heard windows crashed when Pad Class was doing a show ? that's just an example...

SO for my use, this laptop is the best for me.If you guyz are all fine with your PC ,FINE for you! but still i was only pointing out that there LESS virus on a MAC due to the topic .lol.You guyz are getting kinda agressive protecting your own PC.

@Apr1Zm
don't you find something weird in the fact that Mac do sell his products twice the price to supposedly broken artists?
Mac is all about branding. "Want to belong? buy mac. You can still buy PC, but you won't be taken seriously" It's like having an appartment in the middle of the Plateau; sounds great when you talk about it, convienient some time, but damn it's expensive for what it is.

When someone tells me : look, I got that brand new computer (Mac) and I works better than the older one.
I just answer: that'd be the worst scam ever if you'd buy a new computer that's not more performant than the older one.

Live on your cloud, but computer do get old and slow, pc or mac. And when the mac bubble bursts, it will be just that other brand.
