don't you find something weird in the fact that Mac do sell his products twice the price to supposedly broken artists?
Mac is all about branding. "Want to belong? buy mac. You can still buy PC, but you won't be taken seriously" It's like having an appartment in the middle of the Plateau; sounds great when you talk about it, convienient some time, but damn it's expensive for what it is.

When someone tells me : look, I got that brand new computer (Mac) and I works better than the older one.
I just answer: that'd be the worst scam ever if you'd buy a new computer that's not more performant than the older one.

Live on your cloud, but computer do get old and slow, pc or mac. And when the mac bubble bursts, it will be just that other brand.

nice 1! I might take you up on that. cuz even though it did get rid of System Defender, I think the trojan horse unloaded a whole battalion of viruses. they are mostly gone, but now my google search does this: the one in the upper right window works, but redirects to google netherlands :\

and the main google search just redirects to some completely useless search engine

so ya. big problem, obviously

AND - get this... since I got the viruses, once every few hours my computer blurts out a little random snip from some movie playing. it sounds exactly like someone randomly turned on the TV or the radio for a few seconds. then it goes away by itself. and there are no movie or audio pages open at all!

I can't figure out where it is coming from. so creepy!

it hasn't done that since early this morning though. I'm gonna run some more of that anti-malware scan and see what turns up.

some old computers are still in use today to drive specific job on dedicated hardware.

that phone computer, the 32bit box that ended up marketed in the 80s for public is still used in a lot of office and manufacture today. that stuff never broke down. people broke stuff down .

if your computer is truly a good one , and i mean a good functionning one according to its definition : then it should always run as fast as the day you bought it.

or as fast as the shit you drop in the box . but as for software, it never degenerate unless its programmed to or has a virtual-physical translation inconsistencies . beside that , people plant stuff in their code to render it obsolete.

i still play with my atary , my old amiga , games as ore miner and tron and its not slow at all.

perspective is all about

you could have said "itune / ipod 1st gens" and i would knew its what you meant :)

i still cant believe ppl buy more closed source software than open one, imo its blind faith influenced by stupid religions.

we could all write the code.. i hate the public trading keyboard for mouse and ridiculous simplicity by compromising fuctionnability.

You know, that's the main reason WHY people would'nt get linux most of the time,
anybody can write codes...

Than too much releases for the same "system"...

It's like everything, offer them 2 choices they got trouble to decide wich one they will take.

Ask them now to choose from many choices... just at future shop they sold about 20 different choice
of release of linux...

Linux comunity can get more users if they put all the best ideas in the same OS than doing everyone one a nice idea in his own OS.
I'm feeling none right now..

wow , no man. it all originates from a unix developped by d richie in the 70s [ en.wikipedia.org ] , in the end , system entry / program race to kick the kernel in is almost the same as it did back then, shure new extensions where developped but C & C++ language had very small changes to it since it was developped again by d richie way before the unix word was worded, shure i look at a livecd of slax now and i want to puke my guts out compared to the cleaness of openbsd.

see there is linux and bsd, bsd is revised all the time and has he cleanest code ever. hense mac stealing their sources and appending their name to it.

yet bsd , lacks serious ntfs support for a long time , and who saved the issue, the public : a guy using a cheap version of whatver flavour , made a portable code that also works on bsd and now some implemented it versus openbsd that still dont think the code is clean. (or worked on as i suspect)

with the power of many , eventually the best solution will prevail according to darwin.

we all have the power to extinct a few big players here by force of mass will against a few rich fucks that think they can call the calls for us.

imo opensource is the only way. if you dont like the cleaness of it, you clean it up, and share your new ideas to your friends , who in turn can do the same , till only the best comes out of it , compare to microsoft and mac that hides things from you and on top can sue you for it. definitly not good.

ever coded in masm ? if you do your code belongs to microsoft even if you typed it. in nasm , its yours .

this explain why im so beef up about closed source.

ok last night I went to this site [ [ tvduck.com ] ] to find something to watch as I was going to bed. used it many times before without any problems

so I was trying to load up an episode of Sopranos... the usual host had been deleted so I went thru the other hosts trying to load with no success. got lots of pop up for Party Poker etc

finally I got tired of searching, closed down the windows and went and got some food. when I come back I see this big warning screen from something called System Defender - telling me I have harmful viruses trying to attack me

it also now had put itself as a desktop icon. basically it shut down internet explorer and when i use firefox it redirects google to google in dutch, or to some shitty search engine.

i found the virus under Documents and Settings - i took a screenshot and tried to upload it here but it wouldnt let me. so I am at a net cafe using a computer

usually now it gives me an error message when i try to use firefox. something about the connection being reset. nasty stuff

basically the files I saw were;

1. reader_s.exe
2. photo_id.exe (that one bugs me out)
3. user_dat something or other
4. some super long file name like uagdishoadhishhjkdwkjekwjejwkjwkjwek dot something or other

I need to get this removed immediately, as I`m sure what I see is just the tip of the iceberg. but i cam clueless about computers and dont know what to do

is there any computer experts reading this that I could pay to have a look and remove it, or can you recommend any good places on the plateau that could remove it - and how much do people charge for that sort of thing. last place I took a computer to to be fixed - place on St Laurent at Pins - they didnt do what I asked and tried to overcharge me. so I am wary of getting ripped off

help!

thx in advance

\awwww man feel sorry for you.. i got that shit a while ago.. luckily i have someone expert it that type of shit.. alone i would have end up smashing my baby with my hammer. computer are bitch sometimes but often the best friend of man. my sug. is that you go to forums like type your problems with specific words in the Google browser.. when i have a bug in my editing or animation software it helped me. but the best is to know a crack of computers!hehe good luck!
I'm feeling hitched right now..

haha thanks. It's a lot better now. but there are still some bugs. It definitely came from this youkku video host site for the Sopranos. I saw the little video screen there - it said to click to play the video, and when I did nothing happened. I'm sure that's where it came from

like I said before, one of the weirdest things about the virus, is it makes my computer blurt out little clips of commercials once every few hours.. even when there is no windows open with audio. *really* strange, and annoying too.

I'll fix it though. I'm running Kapersky on it now

after reading your first paragraph , this is what bubbled in my head :

.wmv & flash video are prone to exploit. always expect these two format to be not 100% safe.

recoil , have you reinstalled or are you still using your same install , if you are on the same , defrag after you cleaned the max you can. else your loosing performance there.

pro defrag software like 0&0 or the like will greatly improove your machine compare to the one that comes with windows (all windows) . i dont want to sound redundant with that , but you will be surprise how a mere 1% fragmentation can drop system performance by 25%.

but like i said before , if you got a 3 files type that cannot get removed or are dealing with reg injection then i advise to reinstall in order to gain back what you lost, a day install will make you gain back smoothness and you wont rage everytime you use it.

so its still " infected " ? , run "msconfig.exe" in the startup tab, look for instance of files you enumerated. also looking for thoses in the registry (regedit.exe) and using find from there, and in the keys of the bootup dir in the registry,

i would unselect in msconfig first , then delete the nasty keys completely from the boot dirs in registry , you can also find the stuff enumerated by msconfig in there, so deleting the keys from there will remove them even more than in msconfig.

ifthat doesnt cut it , then i suggest again what i said just before i quoted

enjoy, hope this helps you more

best you unlock system files and unhide hidden files , im shure it lies hidden too.

panneau de configuration > options des repertoires >

also not hiding known extension from there will make you able to change the extension by renaming, this might become usefull when poking aroud what your doing.

good luck

lol. I will try all this eventually but for now I dont even know locked, unlocked files... I just know I have a virus. hehe.

any idea on how it is triggering these phantom audio blurbs? that's how I knew it's from those Japanese video host sites. the audio blurbs are the same sort of commercials that were playing on some of them. except there is no window open... just audio coming from nowhere
