I have had the same Cat for 8 years since he was a kitten, i have just recently moved. He is settling in well, he has been around dogs he didn't like it very much but he got used to it. The question i have is that if i get another cat at this time in his life (he is at sometimes aggressive)will he fight with the other kitten or will he get used to the kitten if i get another one? He has seen kitten a while back and didn't really do anything.

He used to be an out door cat now i live on the 2nd floor and he doesn't go out anymore, all he does is sleep now and he is getting really lazy, u guys think that gettin another kitten would freak him out? Should it be a male or a female? If i do get another kitten i will sterilize it of course!!!

you never know... but chances are that, in this case, the full-of-life and playful kitten will probably annoy him and disturb his much enjoyed laziness...
they could also get along very well, but you cannot know for sure beforehand!
I'm feeling phd powa !!! right now..

it's different for all cats

some of them will feel revive with a kitten in the house, others will get depress, grumpiest and pee everywhere

I had a 3 years old cat before i bought my dog, and even if they fight all the time, i know my cat feel less alone now, but a little more depress because he's the selfish type, who wants me all for himself
I'm feeling kiss me, im shitface right now..

ya true. it depends on the personalities of the cats and how old or healthy your cat is. generally, I find... if they are elderly, they're not gonna take well to some little ball of energy jumping around ambushing them.

if a cat is still strong enough to be dominant, it will usually get used to the kitten after a few months, and the kitten will know who's boss.

if it's not very dominant though - it might get bullied by the young one. it might look like the young cat is just playing, but it's actually punking the old one off and establishing dominance. the old one is going to find that very stressful and will be miserable and insecure. not a very nice thing to put your pet through.

I had 2 cats that I grew up with - both lived to be 18. when the one died, my parents got a new kitten. and that kitten gave my old cat no peace. she hated that kitten with a passion and never got used to it.

that said, an 8 year old cat still has a lot of life, so it could be fine and might even like the new one. all depends on personality.

That is what i am worried about...His personality (which is alot like me) he doesn't care and just wants to chill.... At his age now he sleeps alot and is very lazy, he can't go outside anymore so that doesn't help either!

But when i had the Rottweiler he would strut his stuff and try to fight with the large dog! Which i found funny he wanted to tell the dog who was boss and the dog knew after about 2 days.... he would also bring me very large crows and mice from outside. So now he can't go out so i am hoping that he won't cower, and still be dominant.....

ya it's really hard to say. if he is confident enough to step to a rottweiler he can probably handle a kitten. was he living with this dog recently though?

No this is about 2 years ago! I hope he still has the same confidence! Cause since then he has just chilled out side where i used to live, now he is stuck inside but it doesn't seem to bother him....

hard to say, but as I said - 8 isn't really all that old for a cat. they can still run things. lots of cats live well past 15.

even at the age of 14 or so, my old cat Bandit would still attack dogs if they came to visit.

your cat should be fine

A cat that got along with an dominates a dog is quite normal
depends as recoil said.
When my cat was 4 I brought another male kitten in that after awhile was no longer afraid of the big guy and the big guy was absolutely miserable and just grumbled all the time and the wee one terrorized him
now tho that same cat is 11. 2 yrs ago I brought in a baby female kitty he hated her at first but eventually came around. They aren't best friends but they definitely get along. If your cat is male, I'd suggest getting a girl kitten as she will be less agressive towards the big guy and he can kinda train her and exert his power and aythoriity better over her. But it will still take a good 6 months
I'm feeling gone fishin right now..
