 Coolness: 28445 | I've come to the idea that I'm an "equalist" or a "gender equalist" instead of a feminist. I think the word "feminist" sort of denotes that you're pro women above men.
Sometimes men receive gender discrimination too (even if it's generally less severe) like how men are pressured into not showing their feelings or wearing certain things or else someone will call him "gay" with a negative connotation ---or that it's less acceptable for a man to BE gay than it is for a woman ----or when a guy is trying to get custody of his kid from an unfit mother, or when a mother tries to take the kid away from the father even when the dad is good, and the courts tend to side with the female regardless. Transgendered people are very badly treated by many societies - and I definitely think that they should have more rights in the world and be recognized as equal people. So If I'm for equal rights of all genders, I seems inaccurate to me to pick only one gender as my slogan, "feminism". Maybe if equality is promoted as "gender equalism" or "gender equality" instead of "feminism", more will actually happen in they was of achieving equality --people will be less scared off by the idea of women forcing political dominance over men, and will see the "gender equalists" as reasonable and just. If they are given the impression that women want equal opportunity and respect instead of world domination, I think they would be more willing to accept it as a good idea. |

Why go into specifics, I think that like me, you feel that discrimination of any kind has no place in a modern society. There are only two kinds of people, good and evil. At least that's how I see it, we all have a bit of both, there is always one side that is stronger than the other. To be honest I have a lot of faith in humanity and firmly believe that there are more good people out there than there are bad... IMO, the vast majority of people are committing amazing amounts of evil in every day life, without the ambition to do it. I think that there are a lot of "good" people doing potentially bad things. The last thing this world needs is those people being fed more hate to fuel the hatred that's already inside them... At the same time, the world should not have to deal with their shit. Yeah yeah I know that things are not perfect/fair and that they never will be, but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't try to make them as fair and good as we can! I can feel sympathy/non-hate towards someone and try to stop their tyranny at the same time. Maybe this is just the part of me that wants to accept everyone, even people that I resent... that I want to somehow come to peace with everything, even the feminists who think I'm somehow not a strong woman because I'm sub... lol... I guess this is what happens when you haven't really slept in a few days and you just abused yourself with poi chains all night and morning, dancing and dancing.. and now so messed on sleep dep that this fluffy introspective ranting comes out.... ^^ Well, nobody had to read it! lol I don't think it's *that* off topic ^^ I think it ties in alright... we should come to peace with the feminists, accept them for being unreasonably judgmental... hate the ways, not the person? bleep. sleep... |
