Protesting police brutality by breaking stuff and hurting peoples just proves how much some of the protesters and the cops have in common.

Nice vid, by the way.

Not if they are doing their job and she was doing something she should not have been doing (like being with criminal) If there was no excessive force used and if they only control her so that she would not moved I don't see nothing wrong.

I was arrested by 3 cops when 16 (and I'm 5'3), and trust me, 3 where not too much... If they don't want to hurt you, they have to be more than one to immobilize you.

so no, nothing wrong there.

Look, i know for a fact they used more then the force she needed. she is not the type that would fight off the cops.

2. thats good for you. Were you punched in the head, and a dislocated shoulder like she was? I think not.

3. I dont hate all cops i just hate the ones who abuse there power.

there basically saying "Look at me a got a gun and badge so i can do what the fuck i want " i don't fucking think so. give me a gun and badge does that mean i can do the same thing??? No so fuck them and there pathetic job!

Plus my cousin when she was mogded they said she faked it so why should i care about the so-called enforcers of the law.

i don't get those police brutality rallys at all...
and i've even falling victim to p.b. myself.
don't get me wrong... i'm all for exposing the system for what it worth...
but fighting fire with fire just results in ash.
i don't see how organizing a mob of idiots and poser anarchists to break the law until police beat the shit out of them is in anyway, shape or form going to put an end to police brutality.
i honestly think that if someone get beaten by cops for throwing a pipe bomb, THEY FUCKING DESERVE IT.
how this is supposed to help a hobo who gets beaten for pan handling or a prostitute who gets raped for trying to get by is way beyond me???
we live in a fair country where it is within' our right to protest as long as we don't break the law.
why not actually use the system for what its worth and bring real cases to the public eye and maybe even point some fingers at the individuals responsible?
but yeah...
i'm just ranting now.
slick vid mike!!!

No, the main convo was the video (which is pretty cool btw...)

It changed on to police brutality and the riots the protesters made.

Than evolved in your personal experience of a friend of a friend...

and now it's back to blablabla cops are bad...

Everyone knows police brutality exists, it's stupid to defend your cause with stupid cases where the cops aren't even doing anything illegal. If it isn't illegal and you want it to be it's not the cops you have to protest against. If the cops have done something illegal and brutal then you have to use that specific case when breaking stuff or it looks like you're reacting to nothing in particular(which is exactly the case).

Let's say you were protesting because someone was killed by a cop 4 years ago, that would be more of a tribute and a riot would be completely inappropriate because of the time span. If you are protesting about something recent that you disagree with in a case where the cops did what they were supposed to do and what was legal.. again using violence would be stupid because that's not police brutality and you haven't even bothered to try going through the proper avenues to express your concerns before destroying things for reasons nobody knows. Breaking stuff and using violence has to be for something specific and recent or it's just not a legitimate concern to anyone.

Most certainly the point of the protest was simply to riot considering nobody has made any kind of motion for change and nobody has carried a message saying "here is the problem, here is the root of it, here is what we can do about it". Without that your concerns are non-existant as far as everyone else is concerned and your riots are 100% based on breaking stuff. If I was a cop I'd be really mad about the obvious lack of intent to do anything positive on your parts but most of them probably enjoyed the excitement anyways. It's better than giving out traffic tickets me thinks.

Fact is the only ones you made look bad are young people. I'm surprised they let you have the protest at all if people do this everytime. That's beyond complying with the law almost. If this was my city and I had complete power over everything I would not allow this stupidity knowing shop windows would be broken. The only people who've suffered here are businesses, you people really don't think those cops had fun? common. If using violence attack specific cases at specific times or youll get nowhere. If not don't use dumb obnoxious examples.

I'll echo what most people have been saying in this and other threads: using violence against violence is, IMHO, ALWAYS counter-productive in the system we live in. I'm not saying there haven't been cases of police using excessive force, but we have the means to voice our concerns through other channels, one of these being PEACEFUL demonstration. Not allowing the latter would amount to a totalitarian system.

So yeah, I tend to disagree with the last part of your post.

Unfortunately, I'll agree that demonstrating against police brutality tends to attract the most misguided people... Collective intelligence falling to the lowest denominator. That's pretty much why I never attend these protests, as some assholes ALWAYS ruin an otherwise valid attempt at making a problem visible to the rest of society.

Thanks for the positive comments! I agree with a lot of the sentiments expressed here, and from my POV in the demonstrations, the cops did not act inappropriately in the least and were provoked into their response. I knew it was going to get more intense when I saw an older dude having a smoke in front of a Bureau en Gros get hit with a beer bottle. And that was 3 minutes into the march.

I believe it would have been much more productive for the cause if it would have been incident-free, instead of confirming the anticipated behaviour. The media coverage was not supportive in the least. Interestingly none of the major media sources cited the COPB organization in their coverage of the protest, which I thinkn is good for their legitimate cause.

Seriously awesome vid, I don't know who put it up montage and all but it's fraking great!!!

goes very well with the music!

but something I have to ask... did they change the riot squad in the police?
when I was young they had two type...

white helmet (softest)
Black helmet (there to fuck you up)

It was only white helmet... my great grand uncle was in the black helmet and when they were out they were here only to bash everything in sight... He told me that!
I'm feeling roommate search right now..
