and how exactly are you supposed to calculate and keep track of that Einstein... a multiple question survey at the door?..

Each ticket given to each dj should have a special code or letters that represents them...during the night the people at the door calculate what each dj makes!!!!
I'm feeling back to normal ya right now..

jojo, you are right, i cant remember you since you've only been doing it 10 years, therefor you started when it became popular and lots of ppl were doing it. I'm talking when it was the same faces over and over again, so.. very long ago. (I started at 13, 17 years ago)

meh, then what about people who come on their own and LOVE a DJ they've never heard. I found out recently that I actually attract quite a few people to parties. Why? because good solid psytrance does the body good, and I bring my A-Game every time!
I'm feeling mating season right now..

Noah : you are half right.. i'll give you that much..

A Dj WILL bring people (if you book him) because, like you said, if a dj didn't bring people, why would someone book him. so, by that logic, all dj's that get booked bring people. And that's cool.. now, forcing your dj's to sell tickets to bring more people is out of the question. Because, like you said, people are already comming because he's playing or else the promotor wouldn't have booked him..

so yeah, you can have two kinds of parties..

1 with Dj's nobody cares about but sold 50 tickets to there friends, so you now have 3500$'s to make your party worth 1340$, which leave's alot of profit for the promotor.

OR

you book dj's you actually like and would like to hear and hope that people come !! ------> Rewire !!!!

I've never pushed tickets down anyone's through in my LIFE and the Jester parties have always had enough people. If the promotor makes the party interesting enough, he doesn't have to force his dj's to sell tickets because the party will sell its self.. ask thierry or anyone who's ever played at my events in the past 3 years if i forced them to sell tickets in order to get there money..

and our budget was more like 12000$ as apose to your small 1300$'s that's getting you all worked up.. ;p

either way, we need both types of parties to make the scene go around !!

i still love you man !! but stop thinking about only the money !!!
I'm feeling rewire 3.5, sept 28 right now..

this is so funny

one one side you got someone who's asking a private business question, she should already know, to pure unknown people, and when she gets answer she doesn't like, tells everyone to fuck off

and on the other side, you have some dj and promoters in the scene arguing that if a dj should promote the party hes spinning in.

its sad, but if you have a business, let say, you make and sell shoes, do you expect your worker thats sewing your shoes, to sell them at the same time? 'hey, you should be paid depending on how much you sell shoes, even if you make them and its my job to find people to sell them...'

if a promoter cannot do all the promotion needed for his event by himself, he can 'hire' people to fly, sell tick, talk about the party for him, if a dj wants to do it, fine, but its not the dj's job to automatically do it.

a dj bring people by having his name seen on the flyer, not by sucking raver's cocks...
and its the promoters job to make sure everyone interested in this kind of event to see the flyer.

that is it, that is all, it like that in every buisnees, you hire people to do a specific job, not to do your job, if its not specified, then dont expect it to be done
I'm feeling promiscuous right now..

I STILL CALL [ BULLSHIT..NAME ] NAMES MY FRIEND

i would never be so vulgar, it would insult whoever i named by implying they are not worth what they think they should be paid.

but i will post an email i got from some one recently and he is been playing for maybe three years, you'll just have to believe that i didn't make this up myself...

this guy is an unknown if you google his name you get nothing (i know i just did it) which i think is a good measure of how much a person is known...

mind you this for an out of town gig...but my point remains the same:

I forgot to give you my cost.....Greece is paying 3000euro a night + business class flights and hotels......Im going to do it for you at 2000$can a night ( ill play 5 hours...if its a sick party ill go as much as 8 lol)....ill settle for coach filghts...and well ill need a place to stay.

if posible id like to play 4 gigs...But ill settle for one kick ass night if thats all we can manage, just so i can come see south korea and party it with you.

i wasn't lying...
I'm feeling surly right now..

Its a promoter's job to get ppl to the party, not a DJ's. No point arguing that. Its up to the promoter to get DJs he thinks will bring ppl (using their dj name as advertisement capital). Its up to the promoter to know if the DJ's price is fair. All the DJ's got to do is show up on time, do his set as good as he can and collect his pay.

Im a bigginer so i don`t demand pay..but i did get offerd, so i took it.. I know lyn`s talent, and i know what she can do, so lyn my best advise for you is..to get a maniger, of some sort, get him or her to sort out your gigs, that way people wont bother you nor will you have to worry about it, you just have to approve of the payment. people who think new djs shouldn`t get paid i think your right but also wrong in a way to..what about there transpertaion?

Check ca ma ptite nounoune, Tu dis "How much are you offering for me to play at your party?" pis si c pas assez, tu hesite et fais un contre-offre. Mais il n'y a aucun prix qui est pas suffisant quand tu aimes ce que tu fais, quand tu sera assez bonne pour etre payer, tu seras payer. T'as rien qu'en parler. Si t'es pas capable to faire ca, degage d'la scene, c TOUT.

I am not saying u have to empty your pockets to me but does nayone have any advice on how to asked to get paid!!!!Just to cover transport i guess and maybe a couple extra bucks. I don't want to be greedy but i think that it is reasonable what do u guys think????

You need to decide what you are worth, no one can do that for you. Straight up, ask to be paid, any good DJ deserves money for his/her trouble. Do the first few gigs for free to be more accessible, do your friends the favor for free. If you are too 'nervouse' to ask to be paid, you don't belong in this game. Grow some balls, you already have the facial hair.
