werd.

like being able to afford a pair of turntables entitles you to start your own business.

but then again ,at least she's actually using turntables.

so props.

but stay in the kitchen a bit ,and make us something nice to chew on before you spread your dj wings.
I'm feeling one ton soldiers right now..

Fact is you accept the gigs you want, the ones that fit with you and your style, and offer what you are worth It is okay to turn down a gig.
Alls you gotta do is ask question, instead of immediately accepting a booking, ask what kinda party it is, how long you be playing, they chargin at the door, etc et al.

If someone asks you to play at a party, then lay out your demands straight away. By asking you to play, they are acknowleding that you can provide a service that they need, you have the upper hand from the get go.
Even if you a'int leavin with cash money, it should never cost you to play, always ensure transport at the bare miinmum is paid.

Make a knowledgeble decision, and let them know "You'd be willing to do it for $x.xx""
Negotiation begins!
You have already said that records, and needls etc cost cash, that is your first rebuttal, make the person asking you understand that.

There is no secret to getting paid
Just GET paid
I'm feeling ez'ly baked right now..

QUIT DJ-ING.
QUIT BEING AN ASS!!!!

lol! easy, girls :P

all joking aside, i think, when it comes to bookings and money, DJs shouldnt take their own background/experience/ammount of ppl they bring as point of reference.
They should look wat type of promoter they're dealing with, wats the ammount of ppl they are expecting/the venue estate & capacity/etc... THEN tlak about money.

thats just the way i see it
but i could be wrong...
I'm feeling lol busted! :p right now..

some people don't know the true meaning of the music and why dj's are there to play because some people are too YOUNG TO UNDERSTAND the concept......maybe if they open their minds and take a deep look at what is going they would understand why i do what i do....PASSION
I'm feeling on a diffrent level right now..

i think everybody in this thread has it totally wrong...

you can't get paid unless you bring people, by that i mean how is it worth it for a promoter to pay an artist who does not draw people to come to the event, i think that this has been a major contributing factor to killing the scene (as much as i hate using that word) in m-city, kids who have been playing for two years are asking for 500 bucks to play, total disconect from reality, i think to many people think that promoters can just lose money forever, it does not work like that.

if you're an artist who has never produced an album or gone on tour how can you expect to charge people in your own city?
I'm feeling surly right now..

too young to understand the concept? excuse me Ms Lynzyn but 80% of ravers are underage and are only there BECAUSE they don't know better. if you want to appeal to an older crowd, find a new genre.
I'm feeling mating season right now..

FIND A NEW GENRE SORRY BUT MY GENRE IS TRIBAL AND NOT ALL THAT FAST 160-170 BPM MUSIC IS WHAT THE YOUNGER CROWD LIKES I AM TRYING TO BRING SOMETHING DIFFRENT TO THE CROWD BUT YOUNG MINDS ARE TOO HARD TO BREAK AND OPEN UP THEY DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT.... I AM NOT GOING TO CHANGE WHAT MAKES ME ME SORRY SWEETHEAR EITHER U LIKE IT OR U CAN APPRECIATE IT..

That fast 160-170 bpm is not me it doesn't mnake me move but i appreciate it....The younger crowd which is 80% of this site u r right there don't even want to listen to it, so i bring my own people to hear me and i do get some younger people who tell i have a style of my own, hey u ever hear me mix i didn't think so so until u do then judge me...And i do get younger people to come back and see me iosn't that the point too????

And by the way the older genre is HOUSE MUSIC maybe about 15% like all that other stuff but anyone my age likes the same thing..Hearing it feeling it dancing and sometimes reach up and grab the music if they can feel it that much....It is hard to chage what u like u can appreciate it but change no one wants to change what they olike right, can u appreciate other things???

Laule.

Love how you ask people to understand you and all you do is bitch bitch bitch, pointing fingers at everybody else. These kids are too young. These people are too old. This little piggy went to the market, this little piggy stayed home.

You want to know why people don't pay you, I'd say, it might very well have to do with that negative attitude of yours.
I'm feeling recharged right now..

No, she's right. I was about to say the same thing my fellow Doctor, but I had time to think while doing a few chores after smoking a big fattie and quite frankly... she's just right. In the name of the Spears, show me house music, open up my mind and tell me all about the little devil that is passion.

And all this time I thought tribal house was just house with a bongo loop. Since when is house 160-170bpm? Do you even know what you play? Or are you playing 33s at 45 without realising it?
I'm feeling warcracktastic right now..
