for sure u can make music, but u can also be the only one who listen it..

I don't want to MAKE anyone do anything... I want to make music because I love the style and want to add to it, and to express myself.
I sincerely hope you don't think people create JUST so that they can get approval from other people, that defeats the purpose of true creativity imo.

that's not what i mean... you take what i says and twist it at the extreme..

what i mean is that if the genre stay marginalised it's cannot be wealthy and healty.. that's it.

but i really do think that if i create it's for touching people..make them laugh, make them cry... make them hate it or love it...

bon...now u gonna say i just think about money and i'm an evil capitaliste bitch...

i created for 10000 reasons but even if i love it and personaly make me happy i don't do my art(cinema, music video) just for me and stay in my room .sorry.

but i'm not an ambitious person either.

I wasn't twisting any words, you said "it's easy to make art, make people look at it it's an other deal".
and you say I twisted them to an extreme?!!? Well I don't care to "make people look at it" and since when is it easy to make art anyway?! I've been at it for over 8 years and I am still not satisfied.
I am not attacking you here though, just trying to understand what you were saying better. Besides, we are talking about different kinds of art, music and video are very different in many ways, I can honestly say that I'd be very surprised if anyone laughed or cried at my music :\. Cinema is another story.

About marginalization, I don't think we'll live to see the day psytrance is mainstream; in fact I believe it will never happen. It's a niche and I am 100% OK with that, I prefer it that way. If everyone loved it, then our vibe would be no better than the vibe at Circus.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone here NOT taken drugs at some point? Is there any electronic music lover here that can honestly claim they've never tried a drug? I'll even consider alcohol as not a drug for this question. Don't jump on me for claiming that the only way you could possibly like electronic music is if you've also tried drugs, but don't dismiss it so quickly either. I personally think there is a concrete link, if not only the fact that you were open minded, at least once.

Whatever, there's nothing wrong with Fractal. Is it so wrong to want to rave in a church again? Don't the police need a warrant?!?
I'm feeling work right now..

Raving in a church would be fun.

I'm all for new venues! I enjoy seeing new places. However, I also enjoy Centre Fractal and still think, it can be very different, depending on the deco. Just take a look at Raves'r'Us and Les Bucherons. Two very different deco styles: it made the place different, each time.
I'm feeling besorgt right now..

That church on Beaubien was dopeness. then there was the one on Pie IX.
But Beaubien awas way bigger.
I remember Manu le Malin and Torgal there.
Madame Zu also kicked ass.
The ceiling was always dripping wet when you laid on the walls.

i started to listen to *general* techno music, happy hardcore, trance, psytrance, dnb, gabber ... and i never took any "rave" drugs,
it took me almost one year to go raving and to a speed/extacy...

before i smoked po and do lsd/mushrooms, but i use to listen to black/power metal before that.... so listening to music is not drug related.

but its still linked, as you can see not only in the techno world but even in the pop world drugs is present in big music studio
so its it false that you say that drugs is related to the techno scene,

i bet celine dion's producer takes coke....

and the fact that i have not taken rave drugs while listening to techno proves your point wrong...

i use to talk to some huy in scotland who loves hardcore but never took speed and e and stuff, only pot and beer....

and i know there a lots of people more that does too

the thing is that in quebec/canada, the scene is so small, that most of people tht goes to rave is to do drugs, and then some of them start to listen to techno.

in uk and nl, where there a big 50,000 people party with 5 room of gabber, its not the same thing

if youd live in nl or uk, your grandma would know that this kind of music exist, here no ...

its the fact that the scene is marginalised that is related to drugs, not the music itself...

do you know people who listen to black metal who doesnt take drugs?
same thing...

actually there is definitely a much smaller percentage of people taking hard drugs in the metal scene or punk scene or any other scene around here than the rave scene. definitely don't think it's cause of the music but it isn't because it's not mainstream either.

I agree w/ Amp_up, Théâtre Sans-Fil is an excellent venue. Gorgeous, air conditioned, plenty of floors/rooms. But if every party was held there, I'd get bored of it pretty quickly, too. I agree with Breathe and Zed about the 'hunt' for the venue. Me, I have NO sense of directions, so sometimes getting there would be half the night for me, but it was always new, and always something exciting. A bunch of us would gather together and then search for the magical far-away rave.

But, I also understand promoters who sink all thier time and energy into events don't always want to take the risk on a new venue. Be it problems with renters, police, tranportation, ect. I mean, Noah tried a new place for his birthday party, and everyone ragged on it. People get punish for trying to be innovative, and then we complain when things don't change.

All this ranting to say there are alot of factors at work here. You don't want to rave a fractal? Throw your own party. Maybe you'll learn something.
I'm feeling sad :( right now..
