 Coolness: 201225 | The only advantages of using a PC (and those advantages are questionable in the near future with Vista on the horizon) is more apps & games due to wider adoption. That’s it.
That and the fact they are insanely cheaper. I want to get a mac but the prices for a high quality system (and I have to go for a high-end one, because the low-end systems are too cripled) make me cringe. Headless desktop systems: you have the mac mini for 800-1000 after tax (useless system for me, not powerful enough), or the mac pro for 2500+ (more than what I need). Otherwise you have to get an all-in-one imac which forces you to use the monitor that comes with the system. Basically for the price of the 17-inch imac with a real graphics card I could build a pretty sick PC that would be much faster and expandable, and I could use whatever monitor I want. It's only the suckiness of windows that is discouraging me from doing that. |

Update » nothingnopenope wrote on Tue Feb 6, 2007 @ 8:09pm Seriously being able to span a computer to another display is no big deal, and hasn't been for a long time, except with apple, who crippled their older imacs and ibook systems to not be able to span to another display (unless you used hacks). Now the macbooks and imacs have a feature that has been around forever on PCs (and apple's more expensive offerings). Whoop-de-do. A Dragging files onto the desktop and ejecting thus losing all your files, locking the network if you kept your mouse button pressed down, 100 percent in agreement! System 8/9 sucked! I'll say it again, things change. The more you wait, the more they change. Personally, I like the iMac.
