sorry to say but to buy a condo you need more than 500 $ a month
actually, to buy a condo of 155 000$, you need a 500$ downpayment (at least), then pay at least 1000$ per month, and then maybe you'd be finished your morgage after 25 years a condo at 100 000,00$, is not worth the ground its built on. ive been looking at condos, and one at 145 000$, was ground floor and smaller than most peoples living room (and this was supposed to be a 3 1/2). if you are able to afford 1500$/month, and have some down payment i would suddgest you go buy a condo, otherwise dont bother also, yes i know right now is a buyers market, prices are going to start going down, but it still will be awhile before it gets to a bargain price, that can guarentee a big return when it finally gets back into a sellers market
I'm feeling like drinking right now.. |

Also, it's impossible to make even 500$ a week at an 8$/h job in an office where you get no tips. You would have to work at least 80 hours a week. The point remains that.. real estate, the value goes up with time. |

Monkland area is pretty expensive these days, but I highly recommend it. It will still be cheaper than living downtown, and there are less drunks and retards in the area. But rent for a 4 1/2 there would probably be more like 700.
The only place you could maybe find your budget/size of an apartment would be verdun or maybe st henri. I've considered verdun, for about a second, and I realized it would make as much sense moving back to the south shore as moving there. Really I think NDG is the ideal place in the city, you can also find some pretty reasonable places in the part of westmount near NDG (near vendome). ^^^ thats in parc x....
its a super sketchy hood and i don't think its a real 4 and a 1/2... from the description sounds like a 1 bedroom with a double living room. i've visited many apartments that aren't what they claim in the ad. i went to visit one 4 and a half on tupper one time... and the landlord suggested the kitchen storage closet was "the dining room"
I'm feeling hungover right now.. |

it says 2 bedrooms.. and verdun and st-henri are a lot sketchier, it's really not that bad. |

maybe "sketchy" but it has a lower crime rate and the prettiness depends a lot where you live. |

Most apartments I have seen in parc X are quite large for the price. The low cost of the area is probably the reason there are a lot of recent immigrants, and that's probably the reason why some people consider it "sketchy". |

You need to be a damn good liar, and it helps if the building custodian covers your back. Forgery skill helps too or if you can get an actual person to represent, all the better. I wouldn't post the "how" on a public board, on the other hand it's as good as legit. Be opportunistic. --------------------- anyway... it's is better for your check book if your total monthly bills (including groceries) doesn't surpass your 2 weeks of work income. Even better if you can cover all of it in one week. Be energy efficient too. |
