If i was part-owner of a club, I'll rather bring less money than having a stigma that Aria has. tyhe hip hop room is a cash cow and the reasons they are able to book top notch dj's in the main room and charge less than stereo or circus like i said, i rather make less money than having a tainted reputation. Having a bad image of your product brings in less fortune in the long run. |

Seriously a death outside the club might be more believable but to think this guy was in there being beat to death by 20 guys.. thats just a bit ridiculous. |

Ban Hip-Hop from Aria?
Does everyone that listens to Hip-Hop have something to to do with this? Does Hip-Hop have something to do with this? This was the same deal when someone was stabbed at Bacci (if i'm not mistaken) last year during a Hip-Hop party. All the media was saying that this had to with the people that listened to that kind of music, rather than aknowleding everything had to do with the people. Periode. |

When's the last time there was a shooting at a psytrance party? What about electro, anyone ever get shot/stabbed at an electro night? What about metal shows? (Ok, there was the dimebag thing, but for the most part metal-related deaths = moshpit induced)
They keep singing about shooting people and settling scores, eventually the people that listen to it are gonna start thinking and acting the same way. |

well, I dont think the music helps, but I wouldnt blame it.
Gangs are gangs, they're gonna have their little fights wherever, cause.. thats how they get street cred. or wtv. Establishments like afterhours and clubs, dont help. |
Good [+1]Toggle ReplyLink» Screwhead replied on Mon Oct 24, 2005 @ 8:13pm |
But where did that whole notion of street-cred come from? 50s rockabilly? 20s swing? Jazz music? Electro? Breaks? |

A note on gangs... in a world where being illegitimate is a sign of legitimacy, your street cred is all you have. If you're not in a gang, you're not perceived as a threat, and you're not really in danger. More then likely the fucker was set up if he had no posse of his own (or her own) to watch her back. I know a couple of scary dudes in gangs... and they just refer to me as "that fucked up white guy who could hide guns in his baggy pants"... I don't pose a threat, so I'm not in danger. Do I hang out with the people regularly? No. I avoid them. It's not the music (what plays in hiphop is usually regga-tone and not nearly as violent as lots of other hiphop), it's the people who listen to the music... you're in a gang because you get your money stealing, selling drugs, beating people up, or other violence related activities, and most of the time you listen to hip hop. If ravers did all those things, the reports would be about psy-trance and hardcore etc. The problem is gangs, not hiphop. |

Pretty much true. Of course I'm talking about gangs that are actually involved in crime etc... its like that time period when Moterhead was all accused of spurring on violent crimes or something, when really it was just because bikers liked listening to Moterhead. |

CQFD |
