3 times Pat?

:p

But seriously, I don't care if you like it or not...

If I sound defensive it may be because of all the people bashing on it who haven't even read it because "it's cool to dislike Anne Rice because it's popular"... same thing for Harry Potter...(and you can be sure those douchebags will still watch the movie whitout telling anyone and like it)

Get your freaking own opinion people GOD!!!

But I should have known it's not your case... I'm just pissed off these day :P sorry!
I'm feeling palmadaire right now..

I understand the Anne Rice bash. Some do it because it's closely linked to the goth movement, which is itself is often a farce.

But when books/movies are concerned, I'll make my own opinion on the matter.

As for Lestat being Stan Rice, it was true only in the first book, "sugar" :P As she stated herself, "Stan was Lestat; he was the inspiration. Perhaps it is best to say Lestat was Stan and me. He was Stan and what Stan taught me. Lestat was inspired by Stan, and then I became Lestat."

And for sex, it has happened. It was written. So even if you say they don't "want sex", touching a 16 years-old penis is not love. It's pedo and sex.

I don't like Anne Rice but that's on a personal level.

je commence The tao of Pooh

well,

ive got several on the go right now... but i must say that "Modern Quantum Mechanics" (Revised, Hard Cover Edition) is such an enlightening book, its about the revolutionary change in our understanding of microscopic phenomena that took place during the first 27 years of the twentieth century...

Day of the Triffids. That and "The Puppet Masters" are the two books that gave birth to the whole "post-apocalyptic, us versus them" genre. Think Night of the Living Dead, Body Snatchers, etc.

In Day of the Triffids, a new plant emerges that can walk and which carries animal instincts, complete with a poisonous sting. (though it should be venomous; the fifties don't seem to understand the difference). After a bright meteor shower that leaves most of the population blind, those who can still see (those who didn't witness the planet-wide meteor shower) have to group against both the rebellion of said plants and the league of blind people who want to enslave them as guides.

Many parts of the book have been used in 28 Days Later (i.e beginning hospital scene) and the pace is amazing. Haven't finished it yet but damn, it's good.

The Day of the Triffids movie is great!

the hospital opening from 28 Days Later is deffinitley a lot like it, but 28 Days Later is more of a rip off of Night of the Comet.. So much of how the movie plays out, down to the base of people that wants to use the girls..
I'm feeling useless right now..

Well, the book also has military people wanting to use girls. Which came first? Or is it a recurring thought about post-apocalyptic scenarios?

well Day of the Triffids deffinitley came first.. The movie was made in 1962.. But I'd only seen the movie, not read the book. In the movie, there's no millitary sub-plot...

Well the sub-plot came and went. It wasn't even seen as a negative thing. They got into a place where some military, professors and whatnot were gathered with for idea that men would work to secure a new, out-of-town area and women would help repopulate. Most were agreeing (since, well, there's not many other options).

No sooner have the two main characters agreed that shit happens and the main guy ends up somewhere else. I'm not going to spoil what it is but yeah... it was there for only a chapter.

Yeah I'm getting to that part in the book. I guess the movie skipped on the part with the colonel.

Bunch of books that i never finished.
But currently, I'm reading impulse. by ellen hopkins.
I previously read crank and glass. as much as i feel stupid reading adolescent books, they are better written than those stupid horror authors who don't know how to write, or create a horror story.
