Tribal Vision returns to the source with their newest release, “Street Art”, compiled by Dj Slater and Dj Schwa.
Absolut & Greed team up once again to bring us another great progressive track with “The other side”. This track wastes no time before kickin things off. This great duo offers a deep song with a solid kickdrum and a very deep bassline. It is rather trancy, yet not too trancy.. There is no real melody, yet everything is harmonically tuned and blended very well together. A great start to this compilation.
Next up is Rai with a more funky, electro housy track.. There is a strong tribal feel in this one and some very “computerized” electro sounds, with a discreate vocal that preache’s “Dance”. “Let’s Dance” offers a little more trance than the last track, as it totally blows your mind away into another dimension.. I never really heard of Rai before this track stood out. IMO one of the best on this compilation and a great blend of different styles of music all in 1.
Beckers is back again with his buddy D-Nox. Jet Lag Slave is a tune previously released on 12” by Spiral Trax and it’s a good thing they made this one on CD. This track is very very progressive and takes a while before it kicks off (great for making long beatmatch’s). It is very hypnotic with a phat bassline and a cool electroish pad. As that electroish pad kicks in, the track transforms and picks up the groove. I have a feeling im going to hear this one a lot at parties in the next few months (I know I’ll be playing it till people are sick of hearing it..lol) . Also one of the best tracks on this compilation..
Minilogue is back again as one of the worlds biggest Swedish producers bring forth another classic. SPAM offers a very bassy, son kite/kooler hybrid. I think this tune has a Kooler progression with a son kite bass, yet a Kooler bassline. A very nice combination if you ask me.. This one has a lot of power, so beware.. Somewhat of a cheesy sample is used, but since we only hear it once, its not that annoying. Also a stand out song of this compilation.
Sonify’s Sonifunk lives up to its name as Andy combines a little bit of reggae with a lot of progressive, along with a few psychedelic sounds. I’ve heard much better from Andy, but this one is still something interesting depending one what angle you listen to it on. The vocal kind of gets to me after a while, being it’s a long track. Not much trance in this one, but it has some groovy sounds to lead the beat.
SAN & Seb Moore offers something a little more active and intense with “Inceptor”. Lead by its very interesting hat sounds and deep melodies, this one is very impressive.. There seems to be a small lack in the kickdrum though, and for that it might be a little hard to mix in the middle of a set, so I would recommend this one in the opening tracks of a mix. Very tribal and melodic.
Andre is back once again for the second time on this release, this time showcasing what he can do by himself (of almost). I haven’t heard the original to this track, so it will be hard for me to compaire, but all I know is that these are the types of songs that I can play over and over and over and over again. It’s happy, with a strong kick and a very present housy feel. Once the bassline kicks in, some would think it was a minilogue remix. Very interesting progression and sound structure.. a true master behind the machines. Andre is one of my favorite discoveries in 2005 and I can’t wait for an album release from him after hearing what he can do. Pure “Street Art”.
Flowjob show’s a more electro bassline in “Life Extensions” yet the song doesn’t seem like electro music. Very percussive and tribadelik. This one is more one the psytrance side of the CD that’s for sure, with a more highpitched lead. Nothing to fall off your seat over, but still good to listen to at home.
Last but not least, Jaia remixes Vibrasphere’s “Manzanilla” and offers the fastest track on this release. On a side note, I really like the path both Jaia and Vibrasphere have taken these days and I hope we will seem many more releases and collaborations between the three guys. Most probably the tranciest track found on street art with a bassline that leads this track to victory. A very relaxing piece of music indeed and a great way to end one of the best releases this year.
I really hope Tribal Vision sticks to this kind of releases with similar track listings, as appose to the faster bpm’d music. These are true gem’s that come in a very unique packaging. I really like the “Case” this CD came in and the artwork is perfect. You get 8 pages in the booklet, showcasing all the artists involved in this compilation as usual for Tribal Vision, plus a bonus CD case insert with the track listing.
My favorites are 1, 2!!, 3!!, 4!!, 7!!, 9
