right now it makes sense because of the lack of investor trust in the US right now. So investors are turning to Canada and investing money into Canada.

Political stability plays an important role in economy and right now, the US is very politically unstable considering they are no longer in peacetime.

The reason why canada is doing so well is because the US is doing so poorly.

the value of the dollar is no indication of how the economy is doing... no indication at all..
it is merely an indication of the Demand for the Canadian devise... less people want the Canadian dollar and therefore sell it back to the Bank of Canada so there are less Canadian dollars running around... and the sparser something becomes, the more valuable it is...
thats all it means when the $CAD goes up
nothing more...

Currency's value is not just determined by how much currency there is. Currency is weighted against other currency. For instace, the US dollar is weighted against the euro, and the canadian dollar is weighted against the US. The value of the US dollar has dropped due to a billion and one reasons from corporate fraud to terrorism and war. As a result, the canadian dollar goes up in value. But as Moi pointed out, the US economy is failing and ours isn't and one of those reasons is that we have come accustomed to sudden changes. Another reason is that Canada hasn't been shaken up by the largest bankruptcies in the world nor by terrorism fears or war. The world has a lot more trust in Canada right now than they do in the US, which means Canada is getting a lot of investors' money, which means Canada can survive an out of the blue massive increase in the canadian dollar without much preperation. Also, there is a snowball effect happening here. The most the canadian dollar rises, the more Canada's true economy strength shines through by surviving the increase, the more investors will spend on Canada, the more the dollar will rise up in value.

Something strange has happened with the rules of economy.

America has had a shit economy since 9/11 and the business scandals that followed. So why is that canadian economy is booming despite a currency that has risen in strength so fast, that it is considered the second strongest currency in the world, second only to the australian dollar. You'd think that our biggest trading parter would bring down our economy when their economy goes to the shitter. Infact, you'd think the world would be affected when a super massive consumer can't consume anymore.

But that is not the case. EU, Britain, Australia, Canada, all thriving while the US is trying to catch up.

To sum up, america is fucked unless its administration (not just Bush) is changed in november...

When making yourself a drink, check the bottle first to know how much to poor in. Store bought jamaican rum is far less stronger than Bacardi 151, even though the bottles and the liquid look the same.

When partying, besure not to mix your drinks. Beer and liquor and champagne and wine may yield some unsatisfactory results a few hours later. This advice also applies to combining alchohol and marijuana.

Be sure to eat a good meal an hour or so before your party. Not doing so will allow your body to absorb more alchohol than you intend.

When having cigars, make sure you have plenty of water. The dehydrating effects of alchohol and cigars will ensure a strong hangover the next day.

Now if you excuse me, I have some tylenol to munch on...

uhm
a) I meant every provincial liberal party. The BC liberas, the Ontario liberals, and the Quebec liberals have all done the same thing.

b) the PQ improved Quebec's economy like no tomorrow. All you have to do is compare downtown Montreal today to what it was in 1995. Why? Because Lucien Bouchard was a superb politician.

Think about what he has done. He lead the Bloc Quebecois to official opposition status in Canada by getting almost the entire population of Quebec to vote Bloc. He lead the seperatist movement from Parizeau and all of a sudden, the seperatist movement was something to be afraid of. He was so pationate about Quebec as a seperate country and his passion spread like wild fire. Then, after losing the 1995 referendum, Parizeau goes "Fuck this, you stupid niggers and jews and spics and ricers and pollacks and every other non-white person fucked me over, LATES!", leaving Bouchard with a province thats falling apart. So what does Bouchard do? He swallows his pride and starts picking up the shit, eventually turning Quebec into the fastest growing province in Canada and (ironically) through this process boosted Canada's economy. After a while, seperatistism started weaving its ugly head again. PQ hardliners start calling for a referendum again, fights break out amongst the PQ again and at which point Bouchard went "bah, fuck this, I built this province back up again and yeah, I'm tired. LATES!".

Now the liberals are in power. Quebec government employees have a general strike. Busses went on strike. Daycare goes up in costs, schools get their funding sliced, hospitals are in dissary...

Bouchard was probally one of the better premiers that Quebec has had since the Quiet Revolution.
