#2: the director has never seen the original bbc tv series and plans not to, he wants to be able to make a fresh take on the books, which could prove promising, or which could be a total disaster. ... ..

i dunno....i used to live in the west too, and i i didnt really like it all that much while i was there...but now that i'm downtown i'm really starting to hate it...sure theres good things, like the fact that stuff is really close by, but theres so many negative factors: violent degenerate street people harrasing you at every corner, crazy fucking cabbies and other random stupid drivers, scores of wall-eyed halfwit morons ambling aimlessly on the street (NOT bums), horns and beeps and honks and all kinds of noise ALL THE GODDAM TIME, people getting stabbed every 2 damn days, and its dirty as shit, especially at this time of year. it's depressing. the west is relatively quiet by comparison. and its easy to find a friend nearby with a pool in the summer. and abie's smoked meat is like 15 minutes away max. at any given time (BIG bonus imho)... and a ma baie is soooo not as bad as you guys are saying. the hochelaga-maisonneuve east end-ish areas are as bad or worse.....

i just heard a little newsbite on the radio about lokitorrent being shut down. apparently the movie execs (are they the MPAA? anyways..) sued the guy responsible, fined him and also, part of the deal was that he had to turn over all the logs he has of everyone who has downloaded pirated movies from him, so that those people can also be prosecuted. apparently this is only a big deal in the states right now....but thats just it.....right now.....things COULD change here, unfortunately...

PS: i'm pretty sure that the 1st time you install reason and try to run it, it will ask you to put in disc 2, then 3, then a reg key. so thats not abnormal. when you think about it, it makes sense. you do a new install with some software and you usually have to enter a reg key to validate the shit so.........

yeah ok i've just had very similar problems to what youre talking about......and i fixed it.
this is how it went, for me.
1st off, i've never heard of a fourth disc, and so i didnt have that one, whatever it may be. i had reason installed on my system by a friend a while back. everything was fine until one day i started playing around with my ram chips, trying to put more powerful ones in. after i had fucked with the system's hardware configurations, reason would not load up, and asked me to insert the orkester disc, which i did not have. then i found out that apparently, if you modify your hardware configurations, reason will detect that upon startup and if the configuration is different than when reason was installed, it wont load up unless you feed it the proper discs.
so i borrowed the set of 3 discs from carlos (NOT the person who originally set me up with reason). first it asks you to insert the orkester disc (disc 2). it will accept disc 2 and immediately ask you to put in disc 3 (i forget the name....reason soundbank perhaps) then it will prompt you for a reg key. luckily the reg key, in this case, came with the cd's (copies not originals) i borrowed so i didnt have to use a key generator.
anyways at first i was having some problems and it wouldnt load disc 2. but then i realized i had not put in the proper disc. i had put in disc 3 instead. the cd's i was using were not marked 1, 2, & 3. they were just marked with their names, as i recall, so there was some confusion. once i figured out which disc was #2 and which was #3 everything worked perfectly. it doesnt matter if you already have the factory soundbank installed on your system, it wont overwrite it or anything..

so yeah. theres 3 discs:
the main install disc, the orkester disc, and the other disc whcih COULD be called reason soundbank (sorry i forget now)....its these last 2 that you have to fuck around with. if it doesnt accept and recognize one of them as disc 2, try the other. if neither works then borrow some one elses cd's. just dont shell out the cash, its so not worth it. copies are so readily available thru friends and whatnot that its a total waste of money.
hope this helps.

in each one of the following quoted sentences or phrases you simultaneously downplay media coverage and at the same time you "up-play" it:

"It's goal would not need to be to inform outsiders. It would be just give a certain edge to the scene. I mean dancing and playing music for a "good cause". It's focus would be more on the dancing. "

"I was looking up dance/dancing and rave, trance, techno on the web and there was hardly any media on rave/techno/house/trance dancing. I think the dance scene vis a vis rave music is incredible and I think there ought to be more focus on it. "

"Well, I'm not even the one who brought the coverage thing first of all. Second of all, coverage could be a good thing"

"But the minute you have a party wether the media is invited or it's just the local hoodlums, one can get coverage.

Coverage can be a good thing. Mass media coverage I think i am alsways sceptical about. Since they tend to add their biases. "

this is called vacillation and it is typically not the hallmark of a sound argument.

you also seem to have this passive-aggressive attitude going on at times, which can be seen here:

"Yeah, I dig you. That's why I figure that anyone who resists my ideas to focus on the dancing are DJ's.

Kill all dj's... let the dancers have the room.

Just kidding , of course or did you think I was that stupid or naive.

Peace."

and here:

There's nothing like praise to brighten my day. I much prefer the sun, however.

Keep shining.. maybe one day you'll burn out.
Peace, love and happiness....
I'm just playing with you like a clitoris. "

i suggest that if you can't carry on your end of an argument without throwing insults around at people who do not agree with you, then maybe you shouldnt make threads wherein you ask people what they think of your idea(s).

and if i can ask you to humour me for a minute here, i'd like to know how you would have all this trance music played at your dance-a-thon if all dj's were to be killed? would you cue up some tracks on fucking winamp?

i dont know what youre saying. youre saying coverage is good, coverage is bad, coverage is inevitable......? you seem to be constantly downplaying the role of media coverage and then saying it could be a good thing.

and what does this mean: Too often, the money is going into the hands of crooked characters.

does it mean that too often the funds gained from throwing a party end up in the hands of crooked characters, like, for example the hells angels? does it mean that too often when a party gets thrown and the guy thats throwing the party doesnt donate the money to charity then he is " a crooked character"? theres too many issues on the table here, this thread is spiralling into incoherence.

Well said. Although all things that want to remain "underground" eventually become huge, the only thing WE can do is change the outcome of the circumstances.

yes but nevertheless, we, as partisans in the scene, dont necessarily have to catalyse this phenomenon thru inviting media coverage by non-believing idiots.....
