FACTBOX-Iranian president's controversial statements
Wed Dec 14, 2005 4:12 AM ET

(Reuters) - Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Wednesday that the Holocaust was a myth, reiterating a view that has caused international uproar and drawn a rebuke from the United Nations Security Council.
Following are some of his controversial statements on key policy issues:

ISRAEL AND THE HOLOCAUST

"They have fabricated a legend under the name 'Massacre of the Jews', and they hold it higher than God himself, religion itself and the prophets themselves" (Addressing a rally in the southeastern city of Zahedan on December 14.)

"Israel must be wiped off the map ... The Islamic world will not let its historic enemy live in its heartland." (Addressing a conference on "The World without Zionism", in Tehran on October 26.)

"Some European countries insist on saying that Hitler killed millions of innocent Jews in furnaces ... Although we don't accept this claim...If the Europeans are honest they should give some of their provinces in Europe -- like in Germany, Austria or other countries -- to the Zionists and the Zionists can establish their state in Europe." (Addressing a news conference in Mecca on December 8.)

TIES WITH UNITED STATES

"Relations with the United States are not a cure for our ills." (During the presidential election campaign in June).

"Our nation ... has no significant need for (relations with) the United States." (At a news conference in Tehran on June 26, after winning the presidential election.)

EUROPE

"I'm surprised that the Europeans cannot tolerate others' opinions. They are used to talking and want others to listen to them." (At the Mecca news conference, December 8.)

IRAN'S NUCLEAR PROGRAMME

"(They) are not only refusing to remedy their past deeds but in clear breach of the Non-Proliferation Treaty, are trying to prevent other countries from acquiring the technology to produce peaceful nuclear energy." (In his speech to the U.N. General Assembly on September 17.)

"You are telling us we can't produce nuclear fuel, that we will give it to you. You who imposed medical embargoes on nations that caused the death of countless numbers of people, what guarantees are there that you will give us nuclear fuel?" (At the Mecca news conference, December 8)

SOCIAL AND POLITICAL FREEDOMS

"We did not have a revolution in order to have a democracy ... People think a return to revolutionary values is only a matter of wearing the headscarf ... The country's true problem is employment and housing, not what to wear." (During the presidential campaign in June)

THE ECONOMY

"I will cut the hands off the mafias of powers and factions who have a grasp on our oil, I stake my life on this ... People must see their share of oil money in their daily lives." (Quoted telling parliamentarians in Iran's Kayhan newspaper.)

dane cook IS hilarious but his appearance on SNL sucked shit. i dont really blame him for that though, i blame the writers of the SNL skits. they were just so goddam stupid even dane cook couldnt salvage them i guess.
his monologue, which was just him doing standup for a few minutes was pretty ok, although some of the bits he did were recycled from his cd's...

hey vinny, here's a possible explanation for that side effect:

Do different brands of Ketamine have different effects?
Pharmaceutical liquid Ketamine is sold under various tradenames, notably Ketalar, Ketaset, and Ketamine 500. Different brands can have different effects. For instance, Ketalar contains the preservative benzthonium chloride, which is an anticholinergic agent which counteracts the effects of the brain neurotransmitter, acetylcholine. It has its own psychoactive effects seperate from Ketamine, mainly "delerium" at higher doses. Ketamine 500 contains the potentially neurotoxic substance, chlorobutanol, which has displayed harmful effects in some animal experments. It is not known whether these preservative survive the 'cooking' process when converting liquid K to powder. (1)

the key word there is anticholinergic. meaning it inhibits the production or working of acetylcholine, which is a chemical transmitter in the central nervous system (CNS) as well as in the parasympathetic nervous system in many organisms including humans.
when acetylcholine is inhibited by substances known as anticholinergics, you can
have effects like:

Ataxia; loss of coordination
Decreased mucus production in the nose and throat; consequent dry, sore throat
Prevention of salivation
Stops perspiration; consequent increased thermal dissipation through the skin leading to hot, red skin
Increased body temperature
Pupil dilation (mydriasis); consequent sensitivity to bright light (photophobia)
Loss of accommodation (loss of focusing ability, blurred vision — cycloplegia)
Double vision (diplopia)
Increased heart rate (tachycardia)
URINARY RETENTION
Diminished bowel movement, sometimes ileus
Increased intraocular pressure, dangerous for people with narrow-angle glaucoma

as you can see, urinary retention is on that list. scopolamine, one of the main active ingredients at work when you take datura , is a powerful anticholinergic, and i've personally noticed the same urinary difficulties while on datura; not very pleasant.

so according to that first blurb i quoted (from [ www.thegooddrugsguide.com ] some preparations of ketamine contain different substances as well eg: Ketalar contains the preservative benzthonium chloride, which is an anticholinergic. so maybe the K you got those times you had difficulty pissing was from Ketalar, or maybe whatever brand it DID come from had benzthonium chloride as a preservative...

why does everyone hate capitalism? i dont get it.....
it allows us to get our shit cheaper....free markets and all that shit...plus it allows for privately owned businesses...as in: if you own arable land and you grow crops on that land, then you own your crops and you can sell them as you see fit, instead of having the govt come in and manage it for you.
Capitalism is an economic theory which stresses that control of the means of producing economic goods in a society should reside in the hands of those who invest the capital for production. Private ownership and free enterprise is supposed to lead to more efficiency, lower prices, better products.

whats so bad about all that?

lost letters of Viceroy Fizzlebottom circa 1910:

“Please excuse the lateness of my reply, good Carmel. My answer would have found you before now had I not been suffering from the grip all this time.

Indeed I did mean my words when I said, ‘These slovenly beasts besmirch our noble brotherhood with every gesture of their bodies,” but an explanation is in order. I am convinced the ignoble gharial cannot move their bodies without producing an offense. Only the other day the delicate Mrs. Ronald Bateman suffered a visceral reaction to a lunching gharial’s nigh-constant bowel odors.

This is to say nothing of their decidedly inferior conversational skills. One comes to believe that they know nothing apart from the latest prize fighting matches and which of the fairer sex are, “hawt.”

I hope this letter finds you in good health, Brother Carmel. Again, I hope you will be kind enough to excuse my tardiness, and indeed also hope that you will find time to leave your native lands behind and visit your brothers and sisters in the city.

With my kindest regards,

-Viceroy Fizzlebottom”

although i dont agree with or support corrupt club owners or their supposed exploitation of patrons, what do you really expect in the end? ransacking of bags at gravity is not a new thing...we've seen it before, so why would you be surprised that it would happen again, nevermind the question of why in gods name you would leave your dope and cash in your bag, in a public place's coatcheck in the 1st place? i mean, if youre gonna willfully be that naive, then youre gonna pay for it.
gravity is no more guilty of these supposed crimes than 514 was back in the day, or redlite, for 2 examples. and 514's days are pretty much over so if you wan to take that as an example of just desserts, then gravity will eventually get theirs i guess.....
as well, it seems to me that threatening a club owner who you strongly suspect of having ties to organized crime, via a public message board where your ID can be back tracked isnt the smartest course of action.

anbesol is for your teeth.

how to get a cheap, quick high 101 (use at your own risk, obviously): go and buy a bottle of 222's or the generic equivalent. 6 or 7 bucks for 100 pills. these are only available behind the counter at most drug stores but you dont need a prescription. just ask for them and say you have a bad headache. theyll ask you for your name and sometimes your address. youre free to give it, or invent one, or play indignant that they should invade your privacy like that. whatever. make sure the pills have only codeine and acetaminophen and caffeine.
now. take the bottle of pills (must be tablets) and crush a sufficient amount (see below for suggested dosages) into a fine powder. each pill should have about 8mg of codeine so do the math for your dosage. next put the powder in some lukewarm water (use approx. 40ml / 20 tablets or more if needed) and stir the shit out of it. if it doesnt all dissolve, thats ok. mostly all the codeine will dissolve regardless. the unidssolved stuff is acetaminophen and/or caffeine. now pop this mixture in the freezer and leave it until its almost freezing...like 1° or 2 °C. decant the liquid and drink it. enjoy. or filter it and get every last drop out of the undissolved goup.

the principle behind this extraction is based on the varying solubility of the ingredients in the pill at varying temperatures. in short, codeine dissolves much more readily (and stays dissolved at cold temperatures) than aspirin/ acetaminophen. so what happens is all the codeine dissolves in the water along with the caffeine and some of the aspirin. much aspirin remains undissolved though, at warm temps, as youll see. then when you cool the solution down, most of the aspirin that DID dissolve will precipitate back out and settle to the bottom. leaving a solution relatively free of acetaminophen.

PS: prune juice works well for the resulting constipation. bung

selectively copied and pasted from erowid:
Codeine is a _excellent_ opiate to start experimenting with. Although the euphoria is not as intense as that experienced with the stronger opiates, the euphoria can still be quite intense. It also must be noted that like most other drugs, some experience is required before the full effects can be noticed and enjoyed. The best dose to start at is the 30mg - 60mg dosage. That way you won't experience many adverse effects and you can continue to take this small amount until you feel the desired effects, after that you can increase the dosage as you please. Most people settle around the 250mg mark for the best euphoria, with the least side effects.

The LD50 (lethal dose for %50) is 800mg in the average person. Death from codeine, unlike most opiates, includes restlessness, seizures and eventually death from respiratory arrest. Some sources indicate that the lower-end LD50 may be around 500mg, so doses above 450mg are in the red zone.

This extraction can *only* be used on OTC products containing either acetaminophen or aspirin in addition to the codeine. There is one exception to this rule. Products containing caffeine can be used with the knowledge that the most of the caffeine contained in the OTC product, *will* be found in the finished product. This should not matter to most people, but to those with problems in taking caffeine, *you have been warned*! NOTE: Because of codeine's sedative effects the "jitters" and other adverse effects of large amount of caffeine are not experienced.

[I have found that it is better to use products containing asprin, as opposed to tylenol, because the filtering process goes more smoothly and, if one is not allergic to salicilates, aspirin is safer (easier on the liver, etc). Given its solubility, you will also end up with far less aspirin than acetominophen per volume of the product.]

of course, all this is for academic discussion. i wouldnt assume that upstanding citizens such as yourselves would undertake such an unwholesome activity. ***cough***

from what i understand , Mr. Sparkle is a "magnet for foodstuffs", and he banishes dirt to the land of wind and ghosts. i am interested in distributing mr. sparkle in my home prefecture.

ad synopsis:

A housewife in her kitchen blows a whistle, bringing Mr. Sparkle to life off of his box. He calls to her.

MR. SPARKLE:
I'm disrespectful to dirt! Can you see I
am serious?

Mr. Sparkle hovers over her dirty dishes, releasing sparkles over them. The dishes' grime disappears. Mr. Sparkle floats to the living room, where he bounces over a baby's xylophone. He then appears underwater, where three women are dancing.

MR. SPARKLE:
Get out of my way, all of you! This is no
place for loafers. Join me or die. Can you do any less?

The women stop dancing.

THE WOMEN:
What a brave corporate logo! I
accept the challenge of "Mr. Sparkle."

WOMAN I:
Awsoma power!

Mr. Sparkle blows magic dust over the girls as a graphic of a drumming monkey toy hovers in the upper left of the screen. The dust turns the girls into blue Sumos. The scene changes to a reporter interviewing a two-headed cow.

REPORTER:
Any plans for the summer?

Mr. Sparkle appears and shatters the cow. It's disembodied eyes blink at him. The scene changes to Mr. Sparkle coming at us from an orange background.

MR. SPARKLE:
For lucky best wash, use Mr. Sparkle!

By Mark Egan

NEW ORLEANS, Sept 3 (Reuters) - People left homeless by Hurricane Katrina told horrific stories of rape, murder and trigger-happy guards in two New Orleans centers that were set up as shelters but became places of violence and terror.

Police and National Guard troops on Saturday closed down the two centers -- the Superdome arena and the city's convention center -- but then penned in the storm victims outside in sweltering heat to keep them from trying to walk out of the city.

Military helicopters and buses staged a massive evacuation to take away thousands of people who waited in orderly lines in stifling heat outside the flooded convention center.

The refugees, who were waiting to be taken to sports stadiums and other huge shelters across Texas and northern Louisiana, described how the convention center and the Superdome became lawless hellholes beset by rape and murder.

Several residents of the impromptu shantytown recounted two horrific incidents where those charged with keeping people safe had killed them instead.

In one, a young man was run down and then shot by a New Orleans police officer, in another a man seeking help was gunned down by a National Guard soldier, witnesses said.

Police here refused to discuss or confirm either incident. National Guard spokesman Lt. Col Pete Schneider said "I have not heard any information of a weapon being discharged."

"They killed a man here last night," Steve Banka, 28, told Reuters. "A young lady was being raped and stabbed. And the sounds of her screaming got to this man and so he ran out into the street to get help from troops, to try to flag down a passing truck of them, and he jumped up on the truck's windscreen and they shot him dead."

Wade Batiste, 48, recounted another tale of horror.

"Last night at 8 p.m. they shot a kid of just 16. He was just crossing the street. They ran him over, the New Orleans police did, and then they got out of the car and shot him in the head," Batiste said.

The young man's body lay in the street by the Convention Center's entrance on Saturday morning, covered in a black blanket, a stream of congealed blood staining the street around him. Nearby his family sat in shock.

A member of that family, Africa Brumfield, 32, confirmed the incident but declined to be quoted about it, saying her family did not wish to discuss it. But she spoke of general conditions here.

"There is rapes going on here. Women cannot go to the bathroom without men. They are raping them and slitting their throats. They keep telling us the buses are coming but they never leave," she said through tears.

People here said there were now 22 bodies of adults and children stored inside the building, but troops guarding the building refused to confirm that and threatened to beat reporters seeking access to the makeshift morgue.

People trying to walk out are forced back at gunpoint - something troops said was for their own safety. "It's sad, but how far do you think they would get," one soldier said.

"They have us living here like animals," said Wvonnette Grace-Jordan, here with five children, the youngest only six weeks old. "We have only had two meals, we have no medicine and now there are thousands of people defecating in the streets. This is wrong. This is the United States of America."

One National Guard soldier who asked not to be named for fear of punishment from his commanding officer said of the lack of medical attention at the center, "They (the Bush administration) care more about Iraq and Afghanistan than here."

The Louisiana National Guard soldier said, "We are doing the best we can with the resources we have, but almost all of our guys are in Iraq."

Across town at the Superdome, where as many as 38,000 refugees camped out until Wednesday night when evacuation buses first came, the 4,000 still there were corralled outside, hoping to get on four waiting buses with seats for only 200.

The scene at the sports stadium was one of abject filth. Crammed into a small area after the building was shut to them last night, those remaining sat amid heaps of garbage, piled in places waist high. The stench of human waste pervaded the interior of the now vacant stadium.

One police officer told Reuters there were 100 people in a makeshift morgue at the Superdome, mostly people who died of heat exhaustion, and that six babies had been born there since last Saturday, when people arrived to take shelter.

At the arena, too, there was much talk of bedlam after dark.

"We found a young girl raped and killed in the bathroom," one National Guard soldier told Reuters. "Then the crowd got the man and they beat him to death."

of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectfication of the Voldrani,
the Traveler came as a large and moving Tor. Then, during the third
reconciliation of the last of the Machetrik Supplicants, they chose
a new form for him -- that of a Giant Slor! Many Shevs and Zuls knew
what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day I can tell you!
