the remaining persons alive would be all hippies since they were against any kind of violence as a result the canadian flag would change the maple leaf and smoking up would then be legal?

I think Ian's right. Short of the US deciding that if we make it legal that they'll go to war with us, I think it's fast on it's way to legality here.

the good samaritan thing is in the quebec's charte des droits et libertés. It is a crime to not help someone. except if you would put yourself in danger or someone else. check it out

The police should just do their fucking JOB and go after REAL criminals instead of busting parties, arresting drunk teenagers and beating homeless people. Then maybe we wouldn't HAVE to do their JOBS for THEM.

well, to put it into plain language, our system is made (in an Utopian form) which is to manage the people and not prevent (crimes) like the American system which can remove civil rights in order to "prevent" and such... Here, our system has in mind that we are worthy (responsible) which results in a lost of power by the authorities (Gov.). Also U.S. being a republic things e.g. bills (future laws)good and bad ideas move faster through the legal system. In conclusion, if you want something to change here in Canada, you'd better start lobbying brotha!.....overall, we have an awesome system and you should be proud instead of bitching btw you can buy the code of civil rights of Quebec for like $20 so go and buy it, enjoy! :)

can someone explain to me why law isn't taught at all in school? we learn history.. which is all nice and all, but if the government is to assume that all it's citizens should know it, as they say "ignorance of the law isn't a reason to break it"... how can they assume we're just gonna know it..?

i think it should be taught, even if only basic law.. our rights should be number one on the curriculum.

you are fucking right...and philosophy too!......or you could simply go to $$$Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf$$$ and get a decent education which mostof us don't have access to.

philosophy doesn't need to be taught in highschool, but i agree about basic law

but about the "Utopian" form, we live in no Utopia
, i'm not so down trodden to say we live in a Dystopia, but we certainly aren't Utopian...

the police system is EXTREMELY fair...until you are wrongly abused by it or mistreated by it, i don't complain about the police force until they give me a reason, and, they've given me plenty

What I mean is the law was written for "good" people and was not meant to handle "evil minds" for example organized crime or bad cops. Which isn't the case in some countries like Sweden where the law system is extremely efficient and friendly. As for philosophy, I think our society is in need for some as the "grey area" gets larger (making decisions) and come on philosophy is food for the mind....I have a friend which has a Master in philosophy...he could teach you mind blowing stuff.
