I enjoyed megaupload like most people but you do realize the guy who ran it is more than a pirate, he was also into insider trading and embezzlement. He deserves to be locked up.

majority of people prefer making this type of douchebag very rich for their own gain than encouraging honest artists and their ventures.. and they do so of course with 10 000 excuses...
and i'm not talking of course of artists who have 2millions$ contract w/ let say covergirl..and that the album is not really their "main" thing.. i talk about artist who work hard and have to tour constantly to make their money and have not way to have 401k or health insurance bc in our society the work of an artist is really worth nothing it seems.. and i'm not talking of course about the guy who go on megavideo watching a sitcom with no toiletpaper ads... dj castpros why do you need all those site? what are you doing with it? please explain in details here. thank you

seriously i work in this business and talk to people from other labels.. and this "stats pie" make no sens.. where did you copy that off?
a very small percent of artists actually makes "big" money.. very lil get sign to these "horrible" major labels.. and again i think that is not a good excuse to steal the labor of others. majority of labels that you guys enjoy so much and steal the music of barely surviving or making a lil... *cough* just in case that wasn't already clear *roll eyes*

Actually that pie chart is quite accurate. I remember reading somewhere that when you pay $16 for a cd at HMV, $1 is all that actually goes to the artist. That why this whole arguement about piracy has been flawed from the beginning.
They try to count everything you've downloaded as something you would have bought. They do this by translating download volumes into a number of physical cds and records that never existed and try to present them as physical items that have been stolen. Now everyone knows for starters that the value of an mp3 is not the same as a 12" record for example, and secondly no one actually buys everything they listen too, you only end up buying stuff you actually like. So if you actually only looked at the number of physical albums that were NOT bought because of downloading, not the amount of ALL the downloads, you would see the numbers are actually only a fraction of what the label executives claim they are.

gimme a break fuck!
if an artist is not happy about the industry or the arrangements/contracts with his management or label.. the artist is not a slave, he/she can freely go ahead and decide to not do it that way and by HIS OWN WILL putt for free the fruit of his labor. seriously all these excuses are pathetic noise. are you talking about that woman bewonce or like rihanna or U2 's labels? do you really buy that crap anyway? i bet you all have better taste and love many independent labels less mainstream/commercial artists .. well.. GUEST WHAT!? THEY ALL GONNA FUCKING DISAPPEAR IF IT CONTINUES AND ONLY MAJOR LABELS WILL BE ABLE TO SURVIVE.. FML i can't believe i'm part again in a retarded convo// haha Update » Holly_Golightly wrote on Thu Jan 26, 2012 @ 1:06am oh! and many artists put up a good front bc they don't want to alienate their thief fans.. but believe me.. behind the curtains.. i ear it all ;) Update » Holly_Golightly wrote on Thu Jan 26, 2012 @ 1:33am ... and of course a cd and a mp3 as different physical and monetary value... PUT THAT'S NOT THE FREAKING POINT...
the point is... how much you think it's worth the time the artist compose, not only that but how much is worth his musical work... then how much is worth the time of people who work in studios.. the time of people who takes care of promoting that music etc etc etc/// now you tell me all that is worth shit nothing!!! and not only that!!! you have the audacity to say that IF all the prod workers/artist/C level management would get the same % of the profits you would buy the copyrighted material?! that's what i call bullshit right there.. and again a poor excuse/argument.
