Question On Tor Network

I've been reading lately about TOR, and wanted to know if it's something really hard to set up, or if it goes "comme du beurre dans poêle". I'd like to set it up so i can browse and go on irc in anonymity. And to view the content i'm not suppose to see because "the video/content is not available for your country".

I'm sure there's at least one of you guyz competent enough in that matter to give me and answer, as well as some good advices, if possible. Merci à l'avance =D

It can be slow, for viewing stuff in other countries use web proxies. These are much quicker and usually hide you enough.

Tor thru irc? Why are you part of anonymous or some cladestine ninja squad of hackers? (ps: if you were you'd have your own network to use lol).

That was my issues with tor.
I'm feeling freaky right now..

Thx for the infos =) No, but man there's still a lot of hackers on irc, and i saw you could make it pass through the TOR. So if i do it, i'll set it up for irc as well. Don't know much yet about proxies, i'll take some infos on that matter. Thanks still, i was wondering maybe it might be slower since it passes through a couple of relays

If you don't know much about proxies, I don't think TOR is for you.
Learn to walk before you run.

TOR is overrated anyways, to me, it dosen't do much unless I need a hookup to trace some mofo down or something.

unless you need to proxy somewhere , and look like youre there , but still its not what it claims to be, esp. as an anonymiser

plus dont go on facebook as a if your in amsterdam and two minutes later france , and two minutes later in uk etc... you will get goons knocking at your door the next day NO SHIT

really easy , you download, you punch a hole in your firewall and router , then make the proxy setup and voila .

best you have more than one browser as you leave one configured as your normal connection and the other configured for when you want to proxy , cause as soon as you proxy , and the link fails , you might get really annonyed switching thoses god damn proxy just to log in your own console etc... nomatter what proxy client or manual proxy client you choose to do.

might help annoy ppl at bell , crtc , the "as####" layer and everything in the bgp , but in the end it can get traced , even if i seen the dpi not being able to follow everything ...

the only advantage i seen is to somehow beat the throttleing a little, routing wise esp when dealing with TCP reack , when used in to many combinations , but in the end if the person responsible of your subscriber line thinks something too fishy going on , they will enforce more rules onto your line profile.

I just don't like the idea of being triggered while browsing man. i honestly think this is bad. I'm with videotron, and i change my mac/ip often. I know how to do some things from experience, but yet a n00b, compared to some guys i know. this is almost chinese to me right now, but it's a lead to things i need to learn about. Thanks =)

Well then lemme state that unless you're with a corporate account on vtl's networks, You cannot do end user changes to your IP. You take what they give you and you're stuck with it. So that comment about "I change My IP/MAC adress often" Is bullshit. Unless you were referring to your PC IP on your home network, wich you can change, but it does nothing for gateway IP traceability. Case and point.

Sorry to call you out like that, but hey, we can't be fed garbage and taken for idiots.
Oh yeah, and a MAC address is hard coded into hardware, you can't change that.

search the name callings i made in my initial post , youll get a lot of pointer about the network your dealing with , since trying to mess with something you dont know is quite meaningless until you actually know what is what or at the very least make a mental note of it and try to find what is what when your actually taking your steps unto your journey of whatever your trying to do here.

shure you can obfuscate a mac, shure you cant block all the entire crtc domain or whatever but in the end they still see you computer spewing data out there witch their very function as a compagny is to trace that as do the electric or water compagny. evenmore so since every govt entity atm are quite anti freedom and tracing back every terrorist that played in every 80s-90s movies you can expect that maneuveur to be quite condoned and prone you to be the next prime time super star l33t h4r0r3d thats gonna end up on tv saying how now hes gonna try to work as a security consultant.

imo , and you should really take this as an advise mano to mano, dont try to much of that hype unless you really know how not to draw attention to yourself , and if you really want to lot leave a trace at all would be to consider other means of obfuscation such as a live-cd operating system not saving any data of logins on your consumer side, anything else is very frown down by authorities , even more than cheating torents

imo , not because 20000000 ppl "do this" that you will get away with it , in time the compagny knows and has faction of it and even has competitor that will go and monitor competitor or subsidiary because its considered their network extent and thus can go and press charges about this or that that could be done unto your client side. even more crazy is that thinking your not doing anything wrong and just because you misinterpreted or tought your computer isnt doing anything bad can at some consider by them as you helping other bad ppl obfuscating or helping terrorist as your moving parts of traffic you othorised for them. this is a very paranoid senario , but as history tought me well paranoia will save your ass and blindly running towards a problem wont.

i seen a canadian being pursued for shipping a digital pressure sensor gauge/probe to iran from ebay , something that you can find on a lot of water boilers being commercial or civilian , some 50 $ gauge, that guy from toronto got jailed for doing so as its supposed to be illegal to help these country with certain technology as they -could- use that to make a bomb or whatnot.

so immagine a stupid idea being turned and riddled by the same lawers , be information technology wise.

im simply giving you the lucid thought that you should consider legal implication before acting.

word of advise is dont push to far , internet has borders nowadays , anti-terrorism agencies , and mostly lots and lots of analitics , and transparent trunking that will at many points poke the traffict in order to shape it or "for QUALITY purposes" . think of that

have fun watching "streaming videos" with proxies :XD
...

you'll turn it off soon enough to watch the whole god damn
video without having it cut every 2secs :P

sérieux ca sert a rien de virer parano que t'utilise un proxy
ou non, que tu change ton ip cent fois par jour, je vois
pas kessé ca change.

Moi je veux juste avoir le max de
bandwith available all the time...mon ip se fais
bloquer often, I just reset my router & clear my cookies
& voila! :)

les proxy c'est tout le temps SUPER LENT OU CA MARCHE
CARREMENT PAS. tu vas surement te tanner pis désactiver

I'm feeling nice shoes!; wanna fuck? right now..

They don't. I had to try like 5 different ways to do it before succeeding. And so far, no trouble with videotron, tho i didnt abuse it (like once or twice a month, 5 times once). But you were quite right, usually you need a business connection.

J'ai pas d'antivirus non plus, juste un firewall. Mon disque dur est partitionné, fak si windows venait ka fucker, Je réinstalle tout, that's it. Au temps que ça prend anyway...

Pour les proxies, j'verrai.
