Declined a desk job that was $12.50/hr with guaranteed 40HRS and 2 weeks vacation. Simply because I don't want no stinkin'desk job. I like my manual labor!
I'm feeling le tired right now..

You probably did the right thing, I recently read a study that people who do a job they DONT enjoy are unhappier than those who have a job they enjoy even if it means less pay

Unfortunately most jobs SUCK. I couldn't imagine sitting in an office doing the same boring shit all day, dealing with "normal" people who constantly listen to the Mix 96. I'd go nuts.
I'm feeling sunshine right now..

what was the job??
I still have an injured wrist, and would love a break from physical labor.

just found this job "food sampler" hehe. Sounds pretty cool, but I don't have a car, and if I'd need to drive to some farm to pick up some of the samples, I'd be shit outta luck.

I do NDG/CDN & Rosemont nowadays... but Ill always remember an old folks place CHSLD in cartierville... we started the run there, like a garage that could hold prolly 6 cars with black "goudron" roof, in 30+ celcius in june/july/august filled to the top and side to side of used diapers and food; just imagine the smell when we opened the door ;)

one of my buddies is a garbage man, think he's been there for a good 5-6 years now.

his routes are in Laval tho, so I'm guessing that kind of changes the dynamics of the job in certain ways, compared to working in a busy section of mtl.

he seems to enjoy it tho.

Pretty sure you have to take showers after work, no matter the job... I mean, unless your job is being a professional hippie or studying human mildew growth...

If you don't work physically, it's not exactly something I would deem mandatory. Not like I'm sweating my ass off sitting at this desk with the AC blasting.

Now when I worked with conjugated estrogen, organic solvents and unproven compounds... that was a shower before I would even leave my workplace.
I'm feeling so many robots! right now..

my post was not an allegory to the non-hygiene way of life, but i was just saying that if you do a dirty job, you cannot go out after your job without a good shower
