it was not free. the government gave a grant, paid by taxes of the citizens. therefore it's normal that he should conform to the laws of copyright and such.

yes and the government has the last word on those projects all the time. kind of like when someone tries to screw the social security, then they owe money to the gov after.

They don't owe.. they are simply asked to pay it back...

It's not like they 'fine' them.

And a lot of these grants are given out as write offs. Governments way of helping the Cultural/Arts things be produced in Canada.

But this thread is full of win..

Either way, the old classic arguing on the internet is like running in the special olympics...

Even if you win... you're still retarded..

I don't know any of the back story other than the tidbits in here, But all my dealings with Antonio at parties has always been on the up and up. Personally anytime he took a photo I was in he asked me/showed me it to make sure it's ok. *shrug*

Anyway I guess time will tell what happens...
I'm feeling blank.. blah right now..

That and well, It just danwed on on me that this movie is sort of a publicity for the website somehow, maybe that would up the price Noah gets for advertising.

seriously lol

If ANYONE but him sees the movie after he got the notice, he's looking at hardcore fines and possibly jail time for violating a direct order from the superior court..

And well, I dunno, but a bunch of peeps asked me I was going to someone's place on the 4th to watch it anyways. Not saying who's place, or who invited me, but still, this is RW, the info is bound to leak it this happenned.

I think it's more of a CIVIL matter, not CRIMINAL... No one would goto jail for that. It's not like before showing a film in a theater that no one has seen it. Come on people, if you really believe that no one has seen the film. It's been completed since new years almost. You don't think Antonino has asked for opinions and ideas from certain people.

It's also possible that other people have backups of the film. I for one have backups of all my stuff on 2 other people's computers which are outside my residence. That is the professional thing to do is always have 3 backups of all your important stuff.

Read the injunction; he's not allowed to show it to ANYONE (public or private showings) until whatever date.

[ en.wikipedia.org ]

An injunction is an equitable remedy in the form of a court order, whereby a party is required to do, or to refrain from doing, certain acts. The party that fails to adhere to the injunction faces civil or criminal penalties and may have to pay damages or accept sanctions for failing to follow the court's order. In some cases, breaches of injunctions are considered serious criminal offenses that merit arrest and possible prison sentences.

If he had a screening of his movie ANYWAYS and invited people over to his place, the court is really not going to take to kindly to him ignoring a direct order.

And what is someone with a copy were to show it to people without Antonino's consent...
What if people saw the movie before it was to be shown in the theater...
What if people saw parts of the movie so that Antonino could get ideas while putting the movie together.
What is the movie was leaked online by someone and now 100 people have copies of it.

There are a lot of what if's which are possible.
There is a lot which can be left to the imagination on what happened and who caused it to happen.

they'll ask him if he showed it to anyone after the injunction was issued, and if he lies in a court of law, that's even worse.

Yup, if HE showed it to anyone...

Not if Emily showed it to anyone.
Not if Johanna showed it to anyone.
Not if James showed it to anyone.

Anyways... If it was my movie, the movie would have been spread all over the internet by now.

There's a lot of what-ifs, sure, but it's pretty clearly written in black on white: As of the moment he got the injunction he CANNOT SHOW IT PUBLICLY OR PRIVATELY under any circumstance until the ruling has been made.

People having seen it before doesn't matter, only since he's received it.
If anyone else has a copy of the movie, it's his responsibility to inform them that there is an injunction against the movie, and even if he doesn't know about it and someone screens it and it gets back to the court, then the injunction has been violated, despite the fact that it wasn't his doing.

now if it ends up on p2p, that's just taking the piss and they're really going to not take too kindly to that.
I'm feeling like a drama magnet right now..

I don't think he has to inform people of what they can and can't do. Why would he have to inform people of that. I don't think he has to inform everyone with a backup of the movie not to screen it or show it to people. He can't do it. That is what the judgement says.

Anyways I hope someone does leak it online. It is a free movie after all.

HINT HINT to people...

Hehe...
