I have these projects I can focus on but I need to find my motivation to get back into them. I feel like a heroin addict: while the goal is to stop taking it, I think I need methadone. I dont mean a rebound by this, just going out and finding I can still meet people. |

| Coolness: 63060 | besides not very serious high-school dates and short relationships, my first real one lasted almost 10 years! from my last year of high-school right up to my mid-twenties. We had ups and downs but in the end I ended up just hating her with murder on my mind. She was a cold heartless ball crusher.
Then I got with this really intense emotional rollercoaster which despite the path of destruction I was ready to stick with. Love doesnt have to last just a few years. Idealy my next girlfriend should be a bit more balanced, or at least sane. I think people give up too easily these days. It might be a modern society thing? Or does everyone have to either have short stints or screw around while they're with someone? My hope is that if I have an ideal of what it should be, there are probably others who think along the same lines. |

It's harder to fall in love when you have had your heart broken. I had mine broken at 19 and it took years to mend. What you've expressed seems very common for women especially in their early twenties to mid-thirties apparently. Maybe guys go through this as well but isnt that called mid-life crisis? Anyway, what you described seems pretty much what happened in my situation. Its frustating that its nothing I could have prevented or even prepared for. Knowing that it doesnt have to be that way helps. |
